Had to call Disney air today, since no flight info on website as of yet. Satisfied with flights (not crazy about leaving Newark at 6am!...NOT a morning person), but just happy to have details in order now.

My question: Does anyone know how the buses run from MCO to the port? Do they leave at planned intervals (like every half hour) or wait until the bus is full? Just wondering how long we might have to sit and spin (like the snow storm we're getting today!). Also, where do we meet the bus? I know Disney reps will be around to keep us in line :woohoo: but just wondering how far we'll have to walk. The only time I've ever used Disney transp. was many years ago, and the bus was parked quite far away.

I guess I'm just one of the DISSERS who doesn't know anything.:littleangel:

I leave at 6am out of Sacramento myself and am not thrilled with it but at least I'll be on my way to a Disney cruise so I'm sure I'll get over it.

There is a post on here somewhere about how often the bus leaves from MCO to the port and I think someone said it starts running at 830 or 930....:rolleyes1 Ok I'm no help sorry. It's not hard to get to the buses though the hotel will tell us and there are signs and stuff.

We were supposed to be leaving from Boston at 6am which would put us up at 2-3am.....last time I did that and stayed up all night packing for a Disney trip and drinking Starbucks and taking sudafed all night for a sinus infection I had a seizure.
Soooo I was thinking about being a worse Mom than I already am for taking them out of school for a week and having them released early Friday and spending the nite @ the port. :sad2:

I'm sure your kids wouldn't mind the early day out of school :teacher:

I am curious....

How many of you are planning on trying to upgrade your stateroom at port?

~Ingrid

I wouldn't give them ANOTHER DIME at this point!!!! Of course, that does not apply to shopping, excursions or that very scary bar tab.... :rotfl2:

Kristi, will you show your itouch to me? I want to get one for my DD for her bday in May and have never seen one in real life.

Certainly I will show it too you, but you have to promise to hand it back :goodvibes. I showed a friend of mine the skeeball game and word worm game I have on it and she took it out of my hands and told me I could have it back when my appointment was over. Didn't get it back until after lunch :rotfl2:

It is seriously addicting, in fact as soon as I catch up on the thread, I'm going to sit on the couch listening to music and play skeeball, word worm, LIFE and other games until I want to go to bed.

You're gonna love this!

I guess some people think we're morons. I mean, If you book a GTY room, they will often be required to upgrade the CAT. Aside from thet, I was cautioned that DISboards is not an official WDW website, and many people on DISboards have never sailed (ever) before, and are not familiar with an upgrade. In addition, not everyone on DISboards tells the truth.
:hippie:

Here's my question to the board ...

"Which of the following statement best describes you?"

a) You are on DISboards, and have no idea what you are doing
b) You are on DISboards, and don't know what an upgrade is
c) You are on DISboards, and don't tell the truth about being upgraded

.

Initially booked MED for half my family. When I called DCL to add my other half, I asked for CAT12 with kids sale free (exactly what we already had booked for one room).

Supervisor actually asked me "are you stupid, nobody got kids sale free with CAT12".

That gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

It was all taken care of, eventually.

Upgrade stuff:

Platinum, 18 sailings, think we have been given free upgrades 7 times? Best upgrade Dec Magic, booked a day before sailing, cat11 florida resident rate, given cat6 balcony. Have also been on cruises where we paid full rack rate and no upgrade and others got upgraded beyond us while paying less. Best paid port upgrade, we booked inside room and paid at port to upgrade to Walt suite.

No upgrade this time, already booked for balcony rooms. Have GTY12s for the MED.

Was still thinking about it a little bit but it is really hard for me to think about giving all that extra money for what so many got for free! is that really awful to admit? I am really thrilled for you guys who got such pixie dust but just hard.

If you had not noticed I was staying off line until the upgrade stuff died down as it is a little hard to swallow and hear when you are not a part of it but I have been reading along.

Still happy to be going, still happy for DCL service onbaord, still on vacation with my honey for 2 weeks, thinking positive here when I can!

Still looking forward to meeting you all!

Oh! and just to add insult to injury? I paid $129 for our Country Inn and Suites Room where most people got the room for $49 bid on priceline and Priceline refuses my bids every single day for $59 and I stubbornly won't give them $69 bid until a bit closer in (yup, kicking myself again I know) and it's end of spring break. . .

Gotta laugh folks or you'd cry or scream I think~! :grouphug: everyone

DIS is not a DCL site: accurate
Not everyone on DIS has sailed DCL: accurate
Not everyone on DIS tells the truth all the time: I think you all will agree this is accurate

DCL does not "automatically" upgrade. I would say accurate. They do redistribute inventory to absorb GTY reservations, and as a result a number of people end up in higher category rooms.

Is that done in a way that makes everyone happy all the time, clearly no. I imagine it is done instead a manner that results in the fewest people having to be moved. In other words, a 12 might go up a few categories to an open 5 room, rather than always moving a 6 to the 5, than a 7 into the now open 6, an 8 into the now open 7, a 9 into the now open 8, etc. etc. etc. Otherwise the logistics would be impossible.

DCL supposedly has a policy (which they obviously don't enforce all the time) that FREE upgrades will not be more than 3 categories. This makes a great deal of sense as it allows them to upgrade the maximum number of people to different "types" of cabins. An 11 or 12 can go to an 8 or 9--they're happy with their window. The person who booked the 8 or 9 can go to a balcony and the 5 or 6 can go to a 4.

Beyond that, upgrades make no sense at all.

Platinum, DVC 23 cruises. Free "real" upgrades on 2. Purchased upgrades at port on several more. I don't consider a "real" upgrade to be an 11 gty to a 10 or a 9 gty to an 8.

We got our rooms Priceline for the 49 bid. However, my inlaws booked the cruise and I have been trying to get them a room. I have NOT been successful even at 69 dollars so we also have a room on hold at the hotel at full price.

As a solo cruiser, it would have been nice to get a better upgrade than a cat 12 to a cat 10 (still deck 2) as I have to pay more for my cruise. When this cruise first started booking, a friend booked it for her and her husband at 2400 (cat 11) with insurance, fuel and transport to the airport. My price was 1800 for just ONE person. So when the cat 12's were opened, I changed to save money - getting just the fuel charge back AND the downgrade put me at 1400 (for a cat 12 one person).

Yes, it is a GREAT price for a two week cruise and that is what I'm trying to focus on. I can't go on two 7 day cruises (Western or Eastern) for that price even when you throw in my airfare home and staying 5 nights in London!

I just would have liked to have gotten a cabin on a higher deck even if it was a 10 or 11. I like deck 2 (only place I've been), but higher might have been nicer.

Now, having said that....... I'm happy for those who got upgrades, I can't wait for the cabin tours, and deck 2 may not rock from the waves but from us who are down there!!!!!!! Whoooo DECK 2:banana::banana:

Interesting! Who will take care of your brood while you're away? I guess it's not like hiring a cat sitter ;)

Riddle me this......WHY do I have to sit through hours of skiing and curling and god knows what else just to see a few ladies ice skate? :headache:Come on!

We did the "bad parent" thing and booked our flights on Friday. It's too hard getting the little guys out of bed in the wee hours of the night to get to the airport on time. Trust me, everyone will be glad to see my well rested children on the bus ride to the pier, at the pier, at lunch, etc. Otherwise they'd be a disaster!

I was suppose to be on that flight but my TA moved me to the later flight so as she put it "I don't have to wait at the airport for the transfer to the ship for a few hours". I don't know about where the bus is but I was told they would find us at baggage.
We're getting hit with the snow as well and our lights keep flickering...I should be gathering flashlights instead of being on DIS!

The day we were upgraded I was going to call and pay for a 1 level upgrade. Since I didn't have to do that I figured I will take what I was going to spend and see what I can get at the port but I am more than happy if I keep my room.

ok I am now going out and seeing what it will cost me to bring my MIL along - she doesn't have the money to pay for everything so I have to figure out how to do this - I will have to put her in a cabin by herself as we know no one who can come along and share a cabin with her. This single thing is going to hurt isn't it?

I am off to see what I can do!
