Donald, I need your FULL names and reservation # (which I would not display if I were you :) ).

So says Dee47

I gather that you are a travel agent so you should know.
Exactly why is the reservation number a state secret that we cannot divulge on pain of death?:confused3

Its not a credit card number, or a date of birth, or SSN number.
What can a nefarious evildoer actually do with it if it gets into the enemies hands?

Just curious,
P.A.M.

Any information on the DIS can be viewed by anyone with an internet connection. Your name and reservation number are tied, for example, to the dates when your home would be empty (unless you're lucky like me and have a house sitter -- I KNEW my ex-husband was good for something! :rotfl:). There have been unfortunate instances by now of vacationers returning to a stripped down house because they divulged their vacation plans online. Also, your reservation number is tied to a DOB, full name, and possibly a CC #. A decent hacker can extract this info. I happen to be a technology geek, which also makes me very cautious about what I put online in public. To the extent I still have privacy and secure identity, I'd like to keep that.

Just my opinion. I may be paranoid, but that doesn't mean everyone is not out to get me! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Brooklyn, I'm TOTALLY with you with regards to TC vs. Golden Mickeys...:sad1:

I found the cutest top and shirt at Kohls the other day. Total able to mix and match. The top is white with black flowers and the skirt is black with white flowers. I wore the top today with black pants - looked great. Woohoo - great outfit for Palo and semi-formal - plus able to mix and match for other stuff too. Very happy.

I also found a top for my brown pair of pants. When I looked at it closer today, it almost seems to have hidden mickeys on it - close but enough that you could see it.

Happy with my shopping on Sunday.

Wow, lots of posts to catch up on. This reply is to msg several pages back. The 12GTY price was $699 when I booked. Of course, it's more for a solo--but still reasonable compared with other cruise lines.

We're looking at another predicted 12-16 inches this evening into tomorrow--with blizzard conditions. I WANT TO BE WARM!!

My sister who lives near Dulles in Virginia, got more than I did. And as of Sunday afternoon they hadn't seen a plow on their street. They're bound for Cancun on Friday and they'll get to the airport if they have to walk.

QOTD: Here's our photo:

Make sure it's not just the kids. They are not the ones we are most interested in recognizing & meeting - unless they have been posting under your name.

OK Lynne- I tried, I cant seem to get a pic to go here! I dont know what a script is LOL or how I attach my photo to it!

help?

PS...Evan and I would like the running donald lanyard pic now vs. classic please

Long post ahead... miss a few days and I am overwhelmed! :)

So Disney just announced travel agent rates for this cruise. I think I'll kill myself. :faint:

They came out on Thursday early early morning, believe me, I had been checking every day a few times a day for weeks. I knew they would be coming out, just waiting for when..... I was about to kill myself in the process. Last TA in 2007 they had been released a bit before this time around...drove me nuts.

Yes (for some scenes). We did an ATV ride through the valley where Hurley plays golf and where they push the VW bus down a slope. The valley was also used for 50 First Dates and a bunch of other stuff I can't think of right now.

One of the highlights of my trip.
When I went in 2001, it was older movies that they told us about. LOL
Jurassic Park, Pearl Harbor, dang I can't remember anymore either, but there were a ton.
It was the highlight of my trip too!

Travel agent discounts are usually not offered till after final payments. They are the last type to be offered (after FL resident/military,etc) in order to fill the ship. A travel agent has to be in the stateroom.

I've been told they are quite low and would break your heart to know about them....:lmao:

.
I don't think they were THAT low. They made us book inside GTY only and I was hoping to get more variety and pay more and be in a higher stateroom since there were so many upper categories left. I thought the one in 2007 was a bit better, plus we could choose our own stateroom, can't on this one.

Whoops.. Just realized that you had my 11 year old sister down as a boy. Everything else is right- just the gender of the 11 year old is a girl! :)

Ok, I will be sure to change that immediately, thanks!

The good CM rates didn't kick in until 95 days out either! We were paying the same as the rest of the people who had early booking discounts and just getting our tips rolled in (so our rate was actually a little higher than EB discount). We TOTALLY lucked out because the CM rates kicked in at 95 days instead of 85 days. That way we could cancel our reservations for a full refund and just rebook.

USUALLY, the best CM rates don't come out until 6-8 weeks before the ship sets sail (that's called the space available discount), and then you face the same problems with trying to get last minute vacation time and paying the higher air fare rates.

That is what our rate is too....the lowest space available rates. They have told us in the past that us and CM are pooled out of the same rates, but I could be wrong on that.

I thought about it and decided to list my Disney and Cruise Experiences

87 Disney World
88 Disneyland
92 Eurodisney (Now Disney Paris)
97 Disney World
99 1st and only Disney Cruise Magic (Cruise Land Package)
01 Disney Paris
07 RCL Rhapsody
08 Carnival Spirit B2B Hawaii-Vancouver-Alaska
09 RCL Monarch
09 Disney World
10 RCL Voyager

Scheduled
10 Disney Majic TA
11 RCL Adventurer
11 RCL Rhapsody (16 Day Pacific)

I love reading about things like this. I love seeing others travel experience and comparing places (and ships).

It still baffles me as to why they would get rid of the show. No I am not a fan that it is being replaced with a villians show but I still can't understand why that show?!?!?!?! I would have taken away Twice Charmed b4 Golden Mickeys as my vote. TC is good but we just LOVED LOVED LOVED the Golden Mickeys.

I agree..... me too. It was my ultimate favorite show. Never missed it.

AuntLynne,

We would like the lanyard with running Donald

It will be me- Michelle, DH- Jared, and DS7- Chase. We are in a GTY11 stateroom
Hometown: Boise, Idaho

I was speaking of TA rates in general. I just got to do a 7 Day Western and we had the option of the three levels (three of us did a verandah). The fact that the price included tips was :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Do you think the reason they only offered TAs the lowest level was because they have had folks booking the $699 cat 12 rate and they wanted to be more equitable because they now have a large pool of Cat 12 people to place around the ship? :confused3

Has anyone attempted to book any Cat 8-4's lately to check availability? Might be interesting to know.

.

IT started snowing again:scared1: predicting up to 12 inches.:sad2: IS IT TIME TO LEAVE YET!!!!!

I just did that with the November double dip with that same pricing structure too. We chose to do inside, but I love when the offer the different pricing tiers...
It actually surprised me that they only offered the lower category since there was already such a large amount of inside GTYs. I think all of the 10s, 11s were GTY status already, and then the cat 12's, so it surprised me. Who knows what DCL's reasoning is.... I have given up on guessing. LOL
Now the first Med is where I saw a huge difference! :)

Just checked and they are still offering the traditional 8 cabins to chose from for Cats 4-8.

It will be interesting to see over the remaining days if folks get upgraded.

And the race will be on for PC purchased upgrades.

MONICA...how early do you want to get to the ship? :lmao:

I knew there was still plenty of availability on the upper categories, so DCL really surprised me with keeping just the lower cats at discount. It is still showing a ton of availability for the military rates on those same categories too!

We switched from CAT 12's to CAT 5's when the military rates came out. It cost us $550 more for both rooms. :thumbsup2 I basically went through EVERY outside stateroom on Deck 7 and they were available. There was no one pair of connecting rooms that was NOT open (besides Tricia's but I knew that already).

And the race will be on for PC purchased upgrades.

The PC upgrades on the last TA were VERY high! :scared1: They were full rack rate. They wanted more to upgrade one room then we were paying for 2 rooms total. I wonder if it will be like that again?!?!?!?!? I know on the TA last time that there were ship officers in the CAT 5 rooms next to us. On that cruise we did one inside and one outside on Deck 7. It was kind of funny seeing them come out of the rooms in the mornings. They also were not overly friendly, I think bc it was weird for them to be amoung the passengers. I am sure it was a nice treat for them however to enjoy a CAT 5 room for 2 weeks.

I'm good w/ our normal plan to get there early :) You never know :rotfl:

I could have sworn that Hadley and some of the others paid about $500-600 for going from an 11 (they had a 12 GTY to begin with) to a cat 6. Maybe I am getting the facts wrong or don't remember.

Maybe they won't need to do rack rates this time since they are only giving alot of big groups the inside GTY option? :confused3
DCL confuses me sometimes...who knows what they are going to do about all those higher category rooms they will have. I know I sure can't get them!

Can someone either point me to or list out the recommended tipping guidelines for this DCL cruise?

Also, any adv. or disadv. to tipping in cash vs. charging to credit card?

Thank you.

Jurassic Park, Pearl Harbor, dang I can't remember anymore either, but there were a ton.
It was the highlight of my trip too!

We took a helicopter tour of Kauai and they showed us the area where they filmed for the scene where the Jurassic Park dinosaurs ran through the hills. It was gorgeous. Something I'll never forget.

TC is good but we just LOVED LOVED LOVED the Golden Mickeys.

I loved seeing Minnie in her gold sequined dress. I felt like a 5 year-old seeing her for the first time when she came out wearing her gown. :lovestruc

I know that there are two cat 3's available and one cat 2 available.

Dee, I'm crossing the bridge today to have lunch with friends at Neiman Marcus. What are your plans this afternoon? I have to be back for pick up so it may not work today, but we will meet up before April!

I agree with you on keeping things private online. That's why most people called me "mommyto3princesses" on the WB PC even though my name was on my tag. I cracked up when Lynne wrote my name down as Mommy. I told her to keep it that way for my tag. ;) After all these months of being on a board people get used to a particular name and "Mommy" seems to stick for me. ha!;)

Today is not going to work, unfortunately, my afternoon is booked :( Yes, we have to meet sometime in the next 2 months! Hopefully I can drag Carla too. :thumbsup2

So what do I call you when we do meet?

Dee - do you think we can do a Lanyard team meeting in the chat room? Do you need to be there or can you show me how to do it? I would like to have one this week.
