I've had several. I try to book one on every cruise. I really like the breeze -- never felt it was too cold. The cabanas are really relaxing and I never noticed too much noise. Voices from the beach are just background noise for me and I actually like the feeling of being secluded, yet close to other people. Kinda hard to explain...:confused3

I think it's always one of the highlights of my cruise. I am already booked for one on this cruise :thumbsup2

Is there a service to ship a box or two home from the ship? We will be catching a plane over to Seville with another week or so in Spain before flying home. I'll have no need for formal wear or FE gifts and souviners. I am a rabid light packer so will want to get rid of as much stuff as possible before moving on to the next leg of our journey.

I could, theoretically, find a post office on our day in Barcelona and mail a box then. However, I am wondering if the ship offers a similar service onboard.

Many thanks!

We will be flying to Italy for a week after the cruise and are also looking to mail a box home before we fly. As far as I know, DCL does not have a shipping service available. My Dad did a search in Barcelona and found a Post Office that is not too far from the cruise terminal.

just remember it can take a month or so to get a parcel post package so don't mail anything you might need anytime soon.

Yea, we are mostly just mailing our formal and semi formal clothes. The only time we wear those is when we are on a cruise, and we wont be going on another cruise for a while.

Thank you!

We mailed some stuff home from Seville last year and the post office there was easy to deal with. They had boxes and such available for purchase, just like the post office here.

Does anyone else pack light? Last year for 3 weeks in Spain I took one 20" suitcase for me and the two boys - all our clothes, toiletries, diapers, swimsuits, gifts for relatives, etc. fit in that one bag. Not sure if I will be able to achieve the same for this trip.

I am trying really hard to pack light but I am not sure it will work with having to have shorts and jackets and everything in between. I am taking a approach that I can get things I might need on board and all "extras" like sun tan lotions, a few meds, etc. I am putting into one of those toiletry kits that hand on the door - I want to try to get us all having one checked bag, backpack and purse/laptop bag. I am not sure this will happen though. I am starting to pack now :)

Laundry Questions

I understand the washers are now HE on the Magic, I have a regular old-fashioned washer at home. How do I figure how much detergent to bring? We use regular All Free & Clear at home. It sounds like the HE washers don't require the full amount? Thanks!

I thought I might wait until later to post the QOTD; then realized it was 9:30 on the east coast.

QOTD: Can you swim?

I started swimming very young, When I was a kid we spent everyday of summer in the pond out back.

I have a front loader, and when I use non-HE detergent, I use only half the regular amount.

I am going to list the dis usernames of those who have submitted Secret Mickey info in to me on post #9, so that way we can keep track of whose info I have received.

Reminder to everyone, the Fish Extender gift giving group deadline is coming up on February 1st. :thumbsup2

Glad you found some good colors.....

and btw, I meant to say "You CAN'T be grumpy wearing orange" (but probably not wearing yellow or white either) =)

Actually I was able to order a white one and my daughter got the bright yellow - there are actually 2 places to locate them - weird - I ordered the blue bucket hat to go with it (warmth and style :) ) and my daughter got the bright pink hat - so she will be the one you will not be able to miss - Yellow with a pink hat!

I love the loud colors and would have gotten the yellow if she had not but they did not have pink in her size so I let her pick. My next favorite color (not really a color though) is white - I wanted something springy since it will be April.

Thanks for the advice on the jacket!

Ok I found a jacket I think will work well at Land's End and it is only $19/$29 - which is $40 off! It is the Dory Jacket which also has the polar thin lining and from the looks of the picture it is a thin coat - and I could not pass up the price. Ordered one for me and one for my daughter.

Now off to find a compact duffle bag for under $10 that folds up small into a pouch - I used to get them at Wal-Mart but have not shopped there for 2 years (and do not plan on now either) so I will go hunt through the internet while I watch the snow fall and fall and fall here (we are up to 6 inches and it keeps going - we normally only get 1 or 2 inches once or twice a year)

Krisann

My friend in Chattanooga told her they have 4 inches and it was still snowing - that was at 8:30 or so.

were frequently around water as I grew up in Florida and we would vacation on a mountain stream. I have a picture of my Dad hold me in the water like I was trying to swim - I was less than a year old. It's one of my favorite pictures of us. Later Mom had me take lessons with the YMCA. Don't think I ever made it past Minnow or Flying Fish though :confused3

But like someone said, I have enough of me to keep afloat :goodvibes

I am a light packer. I bring enough socks and "unmentionables" for every day. They are the ones that would be thrown away otherwise. After wearing, I toss them. More room in the suitcase on the way home. :goodvibes

I have a light weight jacket that I wear over sweaters when I need more than a sweater. I'll probably bring 3 or 4 sweaters. I won't have a lot of variety in my clothes, but I do have to make sure I am warm enough for the 5 days I'm spending in London.

Fortunately, I don't buy much for suveniers. I get a plate and magnet for each country I visit. The plates are usually about 6 inches in diameter. I don't buy for friends or family except for my sister as she likes interesting earrings.

WE ARE IN!!!!!!! WE ARE BOOKED!!!!!! I am beyond excited to be cruising again but slightly panicked over all I must now accomplish before we go!

I am so excited to join all of you, this thread is sooo fun and informative.

Now I am off to catch up on all these pages and figure out what all I need to do to sign up for stuff.

I am sooooo excited! This is our 25th anniversary gift to ourselves and it is suddenly 5 months sooner then we expected.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming. . .:)

WE ARE IN!!!!!!! WE ARE BOOKED!!!!!!

Welcome! There is a lot of info on the first page of this thread. I think the deadline for fish extenders is Feb 1, if you're interested in that. I don't think you've missed anything yet. There is still a lot in the planning stages.

The YMCA is where I did tadpole and minnow lessons, too. Then there were lessons in the lake at YMCA camp - you couldn't see the bottom and it was squishy - yuck!

My nieces learned in my parents' backyard. My father left a big open space outback and finally got the pool he dreamed of 23 years after we moved in (and all the kids were gone - but right before the grandchildren came along). I guess kids out of college meant the ability to sink his cash into the ground :) Now I am having to learn pool maintenance, as he has limited mobility and balance problems.

Tadpole, minnow, flying fish, shark - different levels of swim classes for the YMCA pools.
