So do you just call DCL and charge $ on your cc? :confused3

yep just call disney cruise line number and tell them you want to do an OBC for your account - all you need is your reservation number. I think the min. is like $10.

I do this for my tips, excursions, picture package, spa, palo, bottled water, and then an extra $100 or so for souveniors

I quit telling them it was for tips (this way I just do an obc for the amount of tips) so that I can adjust up as I want. Only difference is when you call in and say you want to prepay tips, they charge you the actual recommended amount and you never see that amount on your account but the tip slips show up. So the way I do it I have to fill out the sheet still and take it to guest services - but that is not a biggie for me.

this way helps me plan out things and account for money before time, then if I was to have any left over (ha ha) they would return it to my credit card.

I think there will be a few that will be giving out the lanyards as FE gifts but do not want to participate on the FE list to receive gifts due to luggage space.

Hope everyone is having a great day! :goodvibes

Yes some people are not doing FE but are on the lanyard team, but there are some that are and are not on the FE list yet and I needed to let you know to add their names. Sorry if I confused anyone.

QOTD: Castaway Cay -
Do you get off the boat? Yes
Do any shore excursions (parasail, jetski, Manta Rays? In the past we've done bike rentals, parasailing, snorkeling, and those water trike things
Do you get in the water? Yes
Family Beach or Serenity Bay? Family Beach!
Lunch at Cookies BBQ, adult area, or onboard ship? Cookies
All-day (or nearly) on island or hop-on hop-off boat? Nearly all day

need some opinions:

I have the option of 2 flights I can do - both requiring a night stay - which one sounds better -

First: Dublin to MCO for $502 - getting in at 5:30 (10.5 hours travel) then spend the night at Hyatt (in the airport so no shuttles) on one of those vouchers and let the bellman go get my luggage - then fly out the next day at 12:25 to Nashville (ticket is $105) and then the hopper flight to Jackson at 8:30 pm - home at 9:30 pm

Second: Dublin to Nashville for $571, (travel time 15.5 hours) getting in at 9 pm - spend the night in Nashville (have to claim luggage, take shuttle to hotel both ways) and then take 1:15 hopper flight to Jackson - home at 2:15

It basically is the same amount of money (give or take a few dollars) but the difference is wether or not getting to a hotel at 5:30 and resting for the night before taking the 2nd and 3rd legs. No matter what I have to break it into 2 days because of my hopper flight to the airport in my town.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

I like the second choice myself krisann just because it's less flights (less chance to lose bags) and you get home earlier...If I read it right :) I want to get home as soon as I can to have a little cushion between trip and work/school.

But if you think the "rest" in between will help you... then the 1st is your best bet.
Make the best choice for you!

katypop - do we know your daughter?

No. I just meant I take after her, rather than the other way around:rolleyes: The first time we took her to disney she was 19 (she did go with my parents when she was 5). We saw some characters and asked if she wanted pics and she said no...we were happy we didn't have to wait in lines...but next thing we know she spots Chip and Dale and just has to have her pic taken once. Well, the rest of the trip as soon as she saw the characters she had to run and get in line  I didn't want pics at first either, but then changed my mind and got excited too! I only wait if there isn't too much of a line and I haven't had a pic with that character before or with that character in a particular costume.

I definately get off the boat and go in the water!

I have done the parasailing (loved it) and the kayaking. I won't do an excursion here this trip though.

I go to Serenity Bay and eat there too, although I've been to Cookies once.

I've spent almost the entire day on the island each trip, and am hoping the weather is good so I can do this again :thumbsup2

This is completely off topic but I have to ask.

Please send kind thoughts to my friend Jolie and Adrian. Her husband is very ill with Congestive Heart Failure. It basically could be any time or six months from now, but the doctor said Adrian will not be getting better. I'm hoping for the six months or more.

I've already put my work supervisors on alert that I will be out the door when I get the call. They live 8 hours from me.

My biggest fear is that he will pass while I'm on the cruise and I won't be able to be there for her.

Thanks for listening.

Kristi

Kristi, sending hugs and prayers :grouphug:

...and the best one is jamon serrano--carved right at the tapas bar. It is a smoked ham that is almost dried---hard to describe, but don't miss out!

thanks - think I will skip the fried squid - but very insteresting about how the word orginally was to cover their adult drinks with bread to keep the fruit flies out of it :)

I kinda feel the same as you though I don't have Tea on the 16th. Just so every one knows, I'm going to ask for the 15th or 17th but be happy with whatever we get.

BUT WAIT! I would really like to try the menu for April 15th ... as well as the menu for April 17th as well! REALLY? You'd rather not upgrade to Palo's, because you want to eat in the main restaurant? I do not understand. The concept of upgrading is just that. DCL changes menus on a regular basis. The menu we had in December '09 will NOT be the same menu in April 2010.

When the DCL ships cruise through unique itineraries, they usually include ingredients from the region. So, a Filet Mignon, Rack of Lamb (etc) may have a different spice, different sauce, or the vegetables will be made differently. No matter ... there are still TEN entrees on the menu in the main restaurants. Palo's starts with the same ingredients as the main restaurants, but always kicks it up a few notches. ... so I really don't understand the concept of not wanting to upgrade on night "x", but rather, substituting night "y" in its place.

But the Villians menu is a "new" menu because of the new show. At least that is my understanding.

I also had asked on the 23rd about moving the date and no one said a word. Since I was faxing the request today after work, I asked again, but gave a deadline of 6pm as I would be going straight from work to Office Depot to fax. Only one person answered and stated similar thoughts to mine about changing the date due to the "hopefully" new and different Villians menu.

I'm doing the best I can organizing something I've never done before. The most I've ever done before is head up the FE list as there were only 12 cabins on it.

Sorry, don't know about a good tapas restaurant. We were so jet lagged last time we were there that we at pizza b/c that's the first thing we saw. It was pretty icky!

But I'll bet you could get advice on http://www.cruisecritic.com on the destinations board for barcelona.

No excursions, just a beach day. Yes in the water. Serenity Bay for us. Not sure about lunch b/c this is our first time. All day on the beach definitely.

Hi Kristi, I am so sad to hear about your friends. It must be very difficult to just keep waiting. You & your friends are in my prayers.

Thnks, Dee, for the info on my ticker. I'll try to remember that for next time. Your stuff came out pretty good! Does Bear get to come on the cruise, since you got him a t-shirt?

Krisann - If you choose MCO, leaving at 12:25pm and arriving in Jackson after 8:30, that seems like a long time to sit around Nashville, wishing you could just get home.

Kristi - ahh, the joys of trying to satisfy so many people's wishes, and to do it online (and they are virtually strangers!).

I don't care which night's meal I'll miss in the dining room. I don't find anything particularly spectacular. We are also fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to eat out often. And I have eaten some really good food here in Hawaii - we are trying to cover as many of the 12 chefs who started Hawaiian Regional cuisine as are still cooking here.

Karen has a history of ordering from the "lighter menu:" each night a 12 oz steak, rice and broccoli. She says she may venture out to the chicken and fish. On this B2B, we'll probably opt out of the dining room a few times.

Bottom line, the best thing about cruising for us is the opportunity to interact with other people. We have a small family; I have no aunts, uncles or cousins - it is down to my father (with whom I live), my sister and her 4 daughters who live 2 blocks away (they rarely see her in-laws since my BIL died 5y ago); my DB & SIL who live in Boston.
