WE GOT OUR UPGRADE!!!!!! WHOO HOOO!!!
We went from a cat 11 to cat 6. And the best part is that my parents got upgraded also and we now have connecting staterooms.

What a great feeling. We have sailed DCL 9 times in that past and have never been upgraded.

We had a verandah guarantee, so it wasn't really an upgrade, just a nice cabin for our category.

I have stayed in the connecting rooms 8090 and 8092 on the Magic before and loved them!! Probably our favorite rooms so far. Enjoy our old rooms for us!

We got ours too. Upgrade from a Cat 7 to a Cat 6 on 6th deck. Neat. I figured they would pass over any and all cast members that are on this cruise.

This is our 4th DCL cruise, and has been the most generous to CMs so far.


I think a lot of the upgrades have to do with the fact that this isn't a warm weather/Caribbean cruise, so there's less demand for the verandahs. It makes sense for them to upgrade a bunch of the people in lower cabins/GTYs so that they can try to sell the discounted cat 12s as much as possible in the next few weeks.

DCL is NOT pushing to sell the suite grade cabins. DH inquired about moving from our cabin into a cat 3 and the price difference was astronomical. They do have several cat 3s still available though. So a couple of lucky cruisers may be able to walk into an upsell at the pier. You never know.

We had an inside room to Alaska a couple of years ago and the only thing I didn't like was waking up in complete darkness. Then I discovered the bridge cam channel! I'd leave it on with the sound off. Its just like a porthole, but square!

Well, we got our stateroom assignment a few minutes ago. We were cat 10 Gty and that's exactly what we got. Room 7509 which is a cat 10. This is our 7th cruise and we have never gotten an upgrade. I'm kinda bummed since it seems like so many of you are getting awesome upgrades. Oh well, I guess I'll get lots of quality sleep with a really dark room. My mom's room is near the Deck 7 secret verandah thingy. I guess I'll hang out back there some with her.

We just got our room assignments. We booked 4 category 12's and ended up with 4 category 9's all on deck #2. I have only ever cruised on decks 7 & 8 so I am a bit nervous about being all the way down at the bottom of the ship. I have really never needed to use the elevators before.

We were Cat 11 GTY and I just checked. It says Standard Inside Stateroom Category 11, #6110, but when I look on the ship map, it says "Deluxe stateroom with Verandah". I prefer to believe the latter! Am I wrong?

According to my book, 6110 is deluxe Oceanview stateroom with verandah, cat 6 just a few doors down from me. Yea!!

I booked the first day. There is still hope. Once we had an upgrade waiting for us at the port so never give up.

HA is Handicap Accessible. Basically from what I've seen, the room has more floorspace (to accomodate moving a wheelchair around), wider door, and a larger bathroom.

Ours does the same thing. Category 7 but the room on the map is a cat 6. I will go by the map since I read on previous posts that it will say the old category but go by whatever your room number.

As far as the question about when these were booked. We booked ours in January.
