$4.00 For a Mini Can of Pringles. Really?

Reminds me of the time we went to Canada last year. We got to the hotel and DH & the boys went to the pool while I went upstairs to rest. DH asked if I wouldn't mind going down to the lobby store to get everyone an ice cream.

So I go downstairs, grab 4 chocolate covered ice cream bars, brought it up to the cashier and she rings it up......"that'll be $24" :scared1::scared1::scared1: TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS FOR 4 ICE CREAMS????? Obviously you can do the math, but $6 a piece for an ice cream bar????

Granted, I got them since DH probably would have had a bigger fit if I didn't get them then actually paying $24 for them. LOL

Of course one can always get dressed, fix your hair, put on $2 worth of makeup & hairspray, spend another $2 worth of gas and drive to the store in your rental car hoping you don't get lost, to get that $2 can of Pringles. Hmmm...now that $4 can of Pringles doesn't look so bad.:lmao:

Check the expiration date. If the stuff is expired by a few years, then the price is too high. If the stuff is coming on up the expiration date, the the price is just right. If the stuff seems like it was just replenished, then the price is obviously too low! :rotfl:

We stayed at the most upscale hotel in our city last night. I always get such a kick out of the ridiculous prices in the hotels for their snacks and drinks. A mini can of Pringles: $4.00...a chocolate bar: $3.50....bag of almonds...$7:00!

Does anybody actually buy that stuff at those prices? I would think that the offerings in some of those rooms must be ancient, I would be afraid to even eat it.

My dad's favorite saying: "If people were not buying the stuff, people would not be selling the stuff".

You can bet folks eat those things.

I hate the new electronic sensors on hotel minibars. so even if you pick up the can to look at it, your room is automatically charged. then you have to go through the hassle of getting it removed from your bill.

I have not taken anything from the mini bar in a hotel room, but I have done it on a cruise. I don't mind paying $1.50 for a can of Diet Coke, or $2 for a bottle of water if it's something I really want. I'm on vacation.

You know, I never thought of the comparison to the movie theatre prices, but you are right. However, at least at the theatre, while you are over paying, you are getting a jug o' drink and a bucket of popcorn. You are paying outrageous money for what you are buying, but you are also getting a huge portion.

Try buying a chocolate bar at the show :lmao:

And the person that paid $24 for ice cream ....hope those were at least the Hagen Duze bars because there is now way I would pay that for a fudge bar.

I just got back from 10 days in Egypt and I must confess...I paid 25 Egyptian pounds for a mini can of pringles. It is the equivalent of 5 US dollars. I was hungry and wanted something then! A Kit kat bar was 20 pound (4 dollars). You are paying for the convenience and boy was it nice!

What flavor is the Pringles?
We cant get paprika in the states, I’d probably pay twice that for some of those:lovestruc

Last night it didn't matter what flavor...

Now I want paprika ones! Grrr, you! :rotfl:

I went to Europe back in 2006 and my friend and I fell totally in love with those things!

I think we ate like 6 cans our last night in Amsterdam (we were a bit drunk) and then we had a photoshoot with them. I have so many drunken pictures with a can of paprika Pringles on my head!! :rotfl::rotfl:

We probably paid close to $4 for them, too, if not more...

We've done it. . Once due to a plane delay we arrive at our hotel in FLL around 10 PM, no one had eaten dinner because we were supposed to get in earlier. Kids were hungry and tired and everything else around there was closed. Only option was raiding the minibar for a snack or ordering a SMALL pizza from room service for about 25. Raiding the minibar was about that and everyone went to bed happy.

I was browsing in Saks Fifth Avenue once. (I say browsing because I couldn't afford anything.) I saw a plain, black wool skirt hanging up. It wasn't part of a set, ensemble or matching outfit. It looked exactly like a generic, black, straight-line skirt. No special stitching even. Not even cashmere. The same as you can get at Kohls or Macy's.

Curious, I picked it up. :magnify: It had some designer label stitched inside and the price tag read $500.   :faint: I thought if I ever have enough money to drop $500 on a plain, black skirt, I'll buy an $80 one at Macy's and donate the extra $420 to charity. :sad2:

But, I'm sure it's pretty routine for someone like Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian to drop $500 on a plain, black skirt without even blinking an eye. :snooty:

There are plenty of people who will over-pay for anything if they have the money.
Now let me first say that I'd never pay 500 for a skirt, but there is usually subtle differences in the skirts. Usually the Saks one is made with a better quality fabric or has a better cut to make it different for the 80 Macy, kohl's model. I used to live in Manhattan and people all the time bought 500 skirts to wear to work, don't get me started on the 1000+ suits people would pick up.

Not only we will get the Pringle's, we'll also open a Diet Coke or Iced Tea! The first thing my DD and DH do upon entering a hotel room is to open the mini-bar and select a snack and drink for us all to share. We've usually been traveling for hours and it signals to us that we are officially on vacation! That usually ends up being one of the cheapest things about being on vacation - you're still only talking $5 to $10. Compare that to Disney ticket prices and Princess meals, souvenirs, etc, which many of the same folks here don't think twice about paying for. :confused3

I stay at Hilton hotels for work quite often, and while they always have a soda machine near the ice machines in the hallway that sells, along with Coca Cola, Dasani water for $1.75 or so, there is ALWAYS a bottle of Ice Mountain/Poland Springs/The Like with a tag on it that says, "If you enjoy this water, a charge of $4.00 will be added to your account."

:confused3

I understand if you don't have cash on you, but surely you have the credit card you used for your stay! Go down to the lobby and get $2 cash from the card! I guess sometimes people are just THAT lazy, they would rather pay $2.25 more!

Sorry didn’t mean to taunt the pregnant lady with unobtainable food
and I believe I have similar pics

DH always laughs that the first place i took him in Europe was the grocery store...
