I am looking for a warm Spring Break vacation for the 3rd week of March. We live in Oklahoma, so looking for an improvement!
I like the appeal of having Savannah nearby if going to Hilton Head, but will be be too cold to do anything outdoors because it is so far north? I mean playing golf, sitting by the pool or on the beach, walking around sightseeing. If you have ever been there in March, please chime in.
I am sure it would be warmer at Vero, but there isn't as much to do around there. We are not sitters on vacation.
TIA for any input!

March can still be chilly in HHI. It should not be freezing cold--more like 50-70s. It's perfect golf/biking/beach walking weather. Maybe sitting by the pool on warmer days--but you could get a cooler week. We love to rent bikes @ DVC-HHI for the week and bike all over the island. SAV is a nice day trip. There should be a campfire a few evenings with smores and other activities. We also enjoy kayaking and just playing shuffleboard. You can also drive to Charleston--it's a long, but doable, day trip.

Just mentioning, you can bike the Historic Jungle trail in Vero to Pelican Island.

Spring at Hilton Head begins around the middle of February. And you'll get some warm days before then. My dad and some of his friends used to be Hilton Head snowbirds. They'd go down right after Christmas and stay down there until right before Easter. And they'd golf almost every day.

You may not get swimming weather in March. But you'll get to do nearly everything else. And you may get that occasional swimming weather that time of year. I've swam in early April at HHI.

Lucky Dad! I know there are a couple people who spend a good month at the DVC HHI resort. We've gone to HHI twide in March, although it was a little earlier-the first or second week. Once the weather was fairly warm for comfortable golf, biking, and miniature golf, but I wouldn't swim in the ocean. The other time, however, it was too cold for doing any of those things comfortably. Also, regarding golf, the rates at the courses used to go up significantly in early-March, so one year we tried to move our vacation back from the first week of March to the last week of February, figuring "How much colder can it be?" and think of the savings! BIG mistake!

I am also from Oklahoma and considered HHI or Vero. I have never been to HHI so would love to try it. Love Vero but points per night are high in March. Really want a warmer spring break though so the points might be worth it.

One thing that not too many people post about HH is the amount of pollen in the air during the spring. I almost died with my allergies there (well not really, but it was pretty bad).

Never thought about Allergies at HH. Good thing to consider. What is blooming in HH that would be in Florida? I have not had problems in Florida at this time of year.
