Again, from the report...under Land Use Elements/Policies, Table 2-1, Maximum Development, the report projects 1(one) major park and 2(two) minor parks to be built in the five-year span from 1998 - 2003. Additionally, 1(one) additional minor park was projected to be built between 2003 and 2008.
At the time it was reporting, the plan commented the area did have enough land available for two more "major" parks, (not counting AK which was already in the process of being completed and counted as one of the four already existing in the report) but only one major park was projected to be built in the 10-year span from 1998-2008. While two minor parks were built, one park was decommissioned (River Country/Discovery Island, which they only counted as a single combined minor park anyways), so the land really only has 3 minor parks in the stable at the moment (TL, BB, World os Sports), unless they consider Pleasure Island a "minor" park, but nothing I read in the plan indicates it was ever considered that.
Admittedly, this was only a plan, and one that was developed pre-9/11, but it really is interesting to read what they were thinking back then...at least publically.
I am continually amazed at the constant bashing of DCA. We are great WDW fans, and lived near DL for a number of years with almost monthly visits. We absolutely LOVED DCA, had a great time, and enjoyed the great attention to detail this park has. It will certainly come into its own as MGM studios have, a park does not spring from the ground fully finished. Think rollercoaster tycoon
Having said that, the disneylover in me would love a new park, but still have lots to explore!!!
micheal is a good guy im sure but hes had some terrible ideas like alien encounters. do u think walt disney would have an alien eat sum1 from the audience? its not that hes a bad guy its just that he needs to think more like walt disney. thats y i want to be an imagineer when i groiw up (im only 13) i wish that sumday i could be the ceo of disney.
