3rd Edition Passporter for DCL

I pre-ordered the 3rd Edition of the Passporter from Amazon.com and just got an e-mail that said that they cannot fulfill my order. I think it's because the release date has been moved back. I'm OK with that, but how do I order it directly through Passporter.com? There's nowhere on their website for the 3rd edition. Either that, or I can't find it. Could someone help me out? Should I just buy the 2nd Edition? Or, wait for the 3rd edition?

Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

With your cruise so far out...I'd wait and get the most current edition. However I'm guessing that most of the "New" information that's in it will pertain to the West Coast cruises...but that's just a guess.

I alos looked on their web site for it...anything about it...and couldn't find it anywhere...I also e-mailed them (passporter)...and asked if they were going to do pre-orders or what...but NEVER heard back....I alos asked them about the Disneyland (Califorina) edition of the passporter on a diffrent e-mail...and again never heard back.

Not to long ago...the 2nd edition of the DCL passporter was on sale...not sure if it still is...but if you really really can't wait it's a great resorce to have....I can't imagine to many new things listed in the 3rd edition...but who knows.

The other day Overstock.com had the presale listed for $12.41 with $1.40 shipping (3rd edition)...said they will ship starting March 1st.

Scratch that....I just checked again and it is still listed but now it is listed as out of stock and does not have the blurb about being able to pre-purchase.

So, what you're saying is that the 3rd edition is probably mainly for the California cruises? Should I just get the 2nd edition? I think I find more information on these boards than I do with the books anyway, but it's nice to have the information all in one place right in front of you. I have the Passporter for Disney and it really had great information in it. I didn't use it to the fullest, but really relied on it.

I'm a little confused, but why should today be any different???hahahaha

I also sent an e-mail to the Passporter people about how to preorder the 3rd edition and NEVER heard back either! It's very frustrating, because I'll be going on one of the West Coast cruises in July and am craving any and all information I can get. I LOVE my 2nd edition Passporter, but I want info about the West Coast!

I'm not making excuses for the authors fo not replying to emails, but I think they recently had a baby. That could be why everything is so backed up.

I would get the 2nd addition. It's really handy and I don't think too much information has changed since they last released it. If you look at the updates for the 2nd addition, it's mostly minor stuff (like the free soda). The 3rd one will probably be more helpful for people going on the West Coast cruises, if it comes out in time.

I'd go ahead and get the 2nd addtion also...I just can't see that many changes that have happened...besides the West Coast cruises comming up...and some of the other port changes that have happend...Like Costa Maya. Besides with the Magic going into drydock later this year....the 4th edition (next year)...should have more changes to talk about.

And your right...on getting just as much information here on the boards as you can get from the book anyway...but it is nice to have it in front of you any time....like at work..or on the plane.

Hey folks!

The third edition of the cruise guide isn't finished yet -- those new ports are taking LOTS of time and effort to write and map accurately -- but it will be going to the printers soon. Once its at the printers and we have a relatively accurate release date (at least mid-to-late April at this point--don't quote us on that please), we will make an announcement in our newsletter and at our site and make it available for pre-order. Any other outfits who are giving dates about when it will be out are just going on old information and we're not able to update them (we try, but it doesn't work). We don't want to give a firm date now, nor make it available for pre-order now, because we don't want to disappoint anyone if the date slips. We feel it is more important that the information be accurate than that we rush it to print so we can get a few more sales.

As for e-mails not getting replies, how frustrating that must be for you! For what it's worth, we and our office assistants answer virtually all of our e-mail -- the only ones we don't answer are ones that don't really need answers (i.e., informational or thank you notes). We spend so much time answering e-mails, in fact, that if we didn't do it the books might get done a touch faster. So that leads me to think that some e-mail is being waylaid or our responses aren't getting back to you. If you ever can't reach us by e-mail, you can call us at 877-929-3273.

I personally have found both additions of the book to be helpful planning our first cruise and future ones. I like having all of my inf in one place and this is the only guidebook dedicated to DCL. Yes, I know Disney has their own book however it's pretty much promotional material vs. substative info IMHO.

Hey TiggerInNY,

I got the 2nd edition before I approached DH about going on a DCL cruise. If you can still get it, I'd just get that one. You may not find out much more info than you already know but it's nice to have a book in hand to look something up quickly. I'm not going to get the 3rd edition and just wait until the 4th edition is out next year. We should get it in plenty of time for our cruise. If you have any more questions about the 2nd edition, just ask me over on our cruise meets thread.

CajunGirl - Thanks. I already ordered the 2nd edition. As a matter of fact, I just called them and I spoke with Nicky and she is going to overnight my passporter for me. It should've been here already and she was sooo nice. We're going away this weekend and I could use some reading material.

I can't wait. I know, I probably know most of the stuff in there already, but I feel the same way...I like to have it in front of me and all in one place. My friends laugh at me cause I make a "binder" with all my info that I collect. But, guess who they come to when they have a question about Disney? ME!!!! I should start charging or open my own consulting firm on Disney. hahahaha

I'm not sure about the "starter edition"...but the paperback is just that...a paperback. The deluxe edition...is in a faux leather binder...that's aprox 10" high...by 7" wide. It's a three ring binder type planner...that is filled with the same info as the paperback ...but you get an organizational tool...the binder..and slots on in the cover to hold id, tickets, cards...misc. and a pen holder..I also beleive there was a pen in the one I purchased. Oh it also comes with daily pocket planners...that can be removed and taken along for the day...the pocket planners has things like..."our Journey, departs at....arriving at....reservation number....flight number...time...and so on..It also breaks down into "day one"...Wake up... breakfast....lunch...special plans for the day...and so on. They have a pocket that you can slip inportant papers or information in...or things like tickets.

Oh another thing with the Deluxe...after you purchase one...you can get refill for newer editions....WDW...or other passporter editions.

I used to think the same thing until DW ordered one a while back, now I am a total fan!! The Passporter is like a Daytimer, only Disney dedicated! The thing that Jennifer and Dave did that was a stroke of genius is to develop some pocket pages that are bound into the Passporter Guidebook! It is an excellent way to keep a record of your trip and to store your memorabilia (Park Maps, napkins, etc.). They also format some of the pages like checklists or workbooks making it easy to USE the information and personalize it!

I do have the deluxe verson. And I do like it. I can't imagine what my book would look like if I had the paperback...being in the binder really protects the pages...Another bonus of the deluxe is you can open it up and have the pages your reading lay flat.....I can't see that happening if you had to bound paperback...without really creasing the spine.

When we went on our DCL vacation last year...I was able to remove all the unneeded pages and leave them at home ...leaving more room for other things...and making the whole thing lighter...which is another point of the deluxe that I like.
