Can't decide if its worth getting a day room. We booked it after our last cruise but our flight home was later so it was a no brainer. Do you think its worth booking a room for a 3pm flight? Whats the latest I can get off the ship and arrive at the airport? FWIW, I have 2nd seating so later breakfast and I am taking Disney shuttle to the airport. TIA!

We had a 3:30 flight last Saturday (with a 4 year old) and the wait was bearable. We had second seating and took the Disney shuttle as well. I am not sure what time we left the ship. DH eats fast and he was in a hurry because he somehow thought that all the Disney shuttles would leave, even though there were still people disembarking. So it probably was pretty quick. Customs took forever (what's new). We got to the airport about 10:30. The worst part was 10:30-11:30, because it was too early to check our luggage. So we had to hang out with our bags. But we took turns going to the rest room and DD and I went to the Disney Store and Sea world store to kill some time. Then after we dropped off our bags we went to the food court and got lunch. After lunch we walked around a few minutes and looked at the other shops and then went through security. THen we bought some drinks and a magazine. We sat for a bit by the gate until I realized my phone needed charged so I hung out at the charging station while DD napped. I probably sat down by hubby for 10-15 minutes before it was time to board. I thought it would be terrible, but it was not that bad, even with my daughter who, like many 4 year olds, is not known for her patience. If I had know about the option of a day room, I might have explored it, but I am okay with the fact that I didn't because it would not really have been all that worth it to me.

Now, last year we cruised Celebrity. We probably got to the airport earlier (not positive on that) and our flight was later. We sat and sat forever. It was miserable. To the point that I did not really mind the 1 hour wait for a personal pan pizza at the pizza place because it killed the time. That was in Ft Lauderdale. I probably would have paid a small fortune for a day room there if there was an option.

I think the latest time depends on the cruise/ship but on our last cruise they said 9:30am. So by the time you go through customs and get to the airport, you're looking at probably 11 at the latest. You still need to go through security after you leave the hotel (which can be a nightmare at MCO so I would think you would want to leave hotel no later than 1:30 for a 3pm flight). Doesn't seem worth it for a couple hours.

I wish I had any extra money left over to book "a day room", LOL.....

We survived at MCO with two tired kids age 5 and 3 from 9am to 6pm when we got on the plane...Trust me when I say if my wife and I survived, anyone can, haha...

We had early dining. Took time getting off the ship. By time we got thru customs and bus arrived at MO it was about 1030 or 11. We had done onboard check in so didn't have bags. Sister & mom did last minute shopping at Disney Store. Me & BIL watched kids. Security took a bit a time. We sat down had a nice leisurely in one of the restaurants in the gate area and before we knew it it was 230 and we were boarding for our 310 flight. Doing the same thing this summer. We debated doing day room but by time we got in & got settled decided it wouldn't be worth it. Key is doing on onboard check in if possible and not being stuck with your luggage

We got stuck with our luggage until about 3, but I just rented a cart and pushed it around, was not that bad...

We had done onboard check in so didn't have bags.

And that's the key if you take the DCL bus and have a flight that meets the onboard checkin guideline. Lets you be a lot more free.

With a 3pm flight I would relax and only get off the ship one they made me, mosey along to and through customs, and not stress if there's traffic on the road. That way you're arriving as late as you can, so it will be closer to the 1pm mark when you want to be arriving at the airport. Get through security, have some food, soon enough it'll be boarding time (2:15 or 2:30ish depending on your airline).

If you have purchased Disney transfers and take your own sweet time getting off the ship there will definitely be a bus waiting to take you to the airport? Or is there a set time that the last bus leaves?

You can eat at Cabanas instead of the dining room - they stop serving food at 8:30 but don't "kick you out" (but they turn off the music LOL!). We finally walked off the ship around 9am, and even with customs and the DCL shuttle back, we were at MCO and through security by 10:45. Personally I wouldn't book a day room for what would probably be about 4 hours but YMMV. Of course, you could get off the ship super quickly and get to MCO by, say 9am, and maximize time in the dayroom. But I like to linger for as long as possible. :)

We had a 3pm flight and didn't bother with the day room in Sept 2014. Took the DCL bus back to MCO and had to hang out with our luggage for a few hours before the WestJet check-in was open. There's enough shopping and places to sit that I didn't even bother thinking about a day room...

We were just stranded in DFW- and we really enjoyed having a room to relax in vs wandering the airport. If you think that you would enjoy it, even if only for a few hours, and it would be a peaceful, relaxing way to end your cruise vacation, then it may completely be a great value to you! Whatever you choose, have a wonderful cruise!

Would you recommend a day room if you had an 8 PM flight? We were going to go to DTD, but all the construction scares me. Plus it'll be 7/4.

I'd be more inclined to a day room with an 8pm departure than I would with a 3pm departure.
