3D shows?

Can someone tell me if the seats in Muppets 3D Live actually move? Are there any other "seats" that move in "movie type" attractions?

There might be slight movement, but not that I remember. (I know it wasn't like some of those shows you watch and it is a cross between a movie and a simulated ride-this is not the case here.) Most of those 'virtual ride' shows offer stationary seating as an alternative. I have occasional dizziness issues so on those 'off' days I sit in the stationary seating. However, you won't have to worry about that in Muppets 4D...;-)

You can always ask a CM before lining up or when you get closer, but I'll almost bet you that you can always find the alternative seating in those virtual rides/shows.

I don't believe there are any WDW 3-d shows with seats that move. I could be wrong, however.

The seats in Honey I shrunk the kids kind of shake but none of the 3D or 4D theater type show's seats move like a motion simulator.

Exactly what kind of motion are you worried about?

The Honey I Shrunk the Audience show had movement, but its the theater moving, not the seats. Its not like the shows where you feel like you're on a roller coaster or anything like that (I'm thinking of what's at Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls if that helps as a reference point)

The seats at all of the 3D movie shows do NOT move. As a pp mentioned, they vibrate a bit at HISTA. That could change when it becomes Captain EO though - never saw the original so I don't know.

I woudn't really call these movie type attractions, but they are theatre-ish -

The seats move gently at COP. The seats are in a circle around a circular stage and slowly move after each scene so you can view the next one.

The seats at Universe of Energy move, but again, very gently. The theatre seats break in to really large cars, like the ones on The Great Movie Ride and move through some other parts.

Honey, I Shrunk the Audience has been shut down to make way for the return of Captain EO. :faint: For now, there is no HISTA.

The seats in It's Tough To Be a Bug do poke you in the back at one point and you can "feel" a bug moving down the row on the butt part of the seat at another point.

The Mickey's Philharmagic seats, IIRC, do nothing.

You get spritzed with water and can smell things in ITTBAB and in MP.

Shrek over at Universal is a 3-D show that appears to use pneumatics on their seats for movement.Philharmagic is probably my number one 3-D show but Shrek is probably 2 or 3.

Thanks to everyone. I am worried about DH (previous neck injury). It sounds like we are good to go!

I know you asked about theaters, but you may also do a search on here for a list of rides that really shake you around that I saw on here a few months ago...like Dinosaur, Space Mountain, etc.

I have a broken neck so if you want to ask my any questions about my experiences at Disney World, feel free to PM me.

IIRC I don't think any of these attractions have motion warnings, just stuff like "Be cautious if you are sensitive to smells, flashing lights..." etc

Thanks. This will sound silly, but I must get my posts up to 10 to PM!:rotfl:

Maybe you can answer this question: Will Soarin' and TPOC be okay?

The only seat movement that I can think of, and it's not really the actual seat rocking or moving, is the little sensor uinder the seat in A Bug's Life where it feels like a bug is running under your bottom. Freaks me out every time...but it's hilarious to listen to the first timers react! :goodvibes

Soarin' is fine, very smooth. There is a sensation of moving but other than the initial rising of the seats, and a slight tilt left or right during the ride, it's the movie that gives you the impression of moving, sort of like the sensation you get standing in the China circle theater in Epcot. Close your eyes and you feel nothing.

POTC has a mild splashdown on the water drop, but it's not really jarring. If you totally tense up for that one it's worse than just relaxing and enjoying the ride.

One that does really jerk and bounce around that you wouldn't expect is Dinosaur. My back and neck ache after that one since I have arthritis in my neck, spine, and hips. The front of the car fares a little than the back, but I'd advise you skip it. The safari jeep in AK bounces around a bit, again better sitting in the front, but the road is rutted on purpose to make you feel like you're in the jungle. Expedition Everest has quite a jerk when you go backwards. Toy Story really whips you around fast a few times early in the ride, tough with a neck injury.

Thanks for the info Tinka-belle. I didn't think about Toy Story.:sad1:

Do you think CMs would like DH take the "chicken exit" if he went through the queue with DD and myself? (like child swap)?

Absolutely, they can't make someone ride if they don't want to. The worst you can expect is some jerk may make a stupid comment like "Why'd they wait in line if they weren't going to ride..they made the line longer" I only bring it up because I've heard it. It's really stupid though because if your DH doesn't ride, he's potentially leaving a seat open for someone else. Anyway don't worry about it, he's perfectly welcome to wait in line with you even if he doesn't care to ride.

I went through the line with my DD on ToT and Space Mtn. and CM's were very gracious and understanding of me not wanting to ride but wanting to stay in queu with her for that length of time. They would even try to talk me into riding saying I'd love it, but I just can't do those type rides... but I'm working on it. I managed Splash Mtn. and did love it even though I still have to close my eyes on the drop and hold on tight... and I even was able to manage BTMRR (I know I'm a wimp) but I didn't like it. My DD has convinced me I will be perfectly fine on RnRC and that is one I'm considering for our next visit but I just don't ever see me doing ToT. LOL

I also have a previous neck/back injury (nothing extreme but slight whiplash from a wreck and herniated lower disks) and one of my favorite rides is Dinosaur. It is quite jerky so it may not be for everyone, but it doesn't leave the ground so I liked it. I was always a haunted house fan too so things jumping out and scaring me doesn't bother me, but feelings like I'm falling does.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I was going to be very bummed if he wasn't going to even enjoy the queues with us!
