................

I have been spending most of my DIS time on the OIF board and more recently the W.I.S.H board. Great people on both boards!

I've only been on the boards for about 7 weeks now but have noticed that there have been posts to threads that seem to be "nasty' in some way. I've discovered that in a lot of cases these posts are between people who know each other very well and just appear "nasty" to an outsider, but some are truely "nasty". I can't understand how anyone can just jump al over someone's legitimate post. I know there are ways to disagree with someone without getting nasty.

I have noticed an increase in the not nice to others lately. Maybe some are tired of being cooped up, maybe some have some stress in their lives and maybe some are just being mean. I know that when I get stressed, I tend to get a little nasty in my comments. So, I really try to bite my tongue and not say anything. As my mom use to say if you can't say something nice, then keep your mouth shut.

I looked at this thread several times before I decided to post. I have seen some nasty posts on here. Stuff I used to see on the DB when I used to stop by there. I dont anymore because I didnt like some of the nasty comments I saw. I also have noticed that some posters from the DB--who dont usually post here have stopped by to leave a nasty comment or 2.
I dont really see the point in it.

Yes, C. Ann, I feel the same way too. It seems very needless and senseless and it sometimes prevents me from posting. I just don't get it:confused:

This is why I am reluctant to post on the CB unless I am being informative and not stating and opinion.

The CB goes through phases. Some good, some not so good.
I think the stress of the war and winter has gotten to a lot of people.

Actually I thougth things were going pretty well, but I have a few rules.

I only read posts where I like the subject or know the poster. Had I known what this one was about I would have skipped it. Nothing personal, but my feeling is the best way to deal with some of the things on the internet is to ignore them. You know what you mom use to say when kids were mean to you, just ignore them if you don't it just gets worse.

Ignoring those people who are hurtful here is the best remedy, IMO. Works well for me.

I think I just try to ignore things that bother me... I think it is best for me, keeps me from getting hurt.

Imagine that Jason. LOL

C.Ann, the back button usually takes care of any unpleasantness. I've just about worn my back button out, especially since the New Year.

I think it's a combination of cabin fever and too much Fox and CNN. War makes people very emotional. So do politics.

Use your back button C. Ann, it helps, honest. Come over to WISH and motivate me to lose weight. Come over to WISH and bop <s>egg</s>airhead.

Things will get less emotional around here soon, at least I hope so.

Absolutely Serena, well said!

And I agree with CarolA too, about ignoring a lot of what goes on. Can't read every thread/post anyway, not enough time unfortunately. ;)

LOL Jason :teeth:

I've noticed that on and off myself over the years - though not lately. Normally I attribute it to my spending too much time here. Just like when we visit DW's parents. It's fun for a few days then there becomes too much closeness and we are at each other's throats. I try to keep the dis a fun albeit minor part of my life and I don't notice the unruliness. :)

I find that if I don't take it all too seriously that it's easier to post and not say what I'm REALLY thinking sometimes. It's harder to become close to people if you do that but I've been burned a few times and that may be best anyway. Of course, there are a few exceptions!

There always seems to be the same few posters who come in and make a comment designed to stir things up...then they disappear. I don't usually respond to those posts and I certainly don't post here as much as I used to. I've been coming back lately, but trying to stick to the more pleasant threads that i know won't aggravate me.

I use to post here more often, but all the bickering got to me.... so I mostly just read now and don't get involved. But I still really like a lot of people here. ;) I guess I'm just not the confrontational type.
