Does anyone have any experience renting points from this company? Please share.

The problem isn't that you can't post a link to a website (people do that all the time); the problem is that someone from this particular site must've done something here on DISboards to get the site banned.

Correct. And trying to get around it by posting the name of the site with spaces in it will just get you points.

And this has nothing to do with theme parks attractions and strategies.

read the posting guidelines. particularly the one about getting around the word filter.

It's not that you can't refer to a website, it's that you can't refer to that particular one.

"Get me points?" I'm not sure what you mean?

It's a punishment system used on message boards. When you break the rules, you get points. Too many points will lead to a temporary or permanent ban.

Much like demerits, points are assessed to users who attempt to obfuscate what must not be said (like adding a space so the filter doesn't * something out). Collect enough points and you win a vacation from the DIS.

Geesh! I hope OP doesn't get "points" for that. How could he or she have known that it was forbidden to state the name of a particular company?! It seems pretty obvious that there was no intent to subvert the system.

They can go back in and delete the part of the post where they spell out the company's name...only they and the moderators can delete stuff from the post. It's OK if you just leave the filtered title in.

Now I know how my students feel. (We give demerits at my school)

By reading the posting guidelines.

Alesia, so every time you go to ask a question that involves a specific company, you go read the posting guidelines to see if there is any prohibition against mentioning that company? That's pretty impressive!

No, but if the website or name of the company is starred out, that means that that particular company has been banned. In the posting guidelines, it states that trying to get around the filter by using spaces or special characters will result in an infraction.

No need to do that. If the post has a name starred out then just leave it alone. Don't retype it in a way that gets around the filter. That's where the problem comes in.

Okay, but it's obvious from OP's second post that s/he did not realize that particular company couldn't be mentioned, but s/he thought there was some issue with posting links to a website. I'm just saying it seems like a lot of people were pretty harsh on him/her which, in my own opinion, was not justified. Obviously, others are free to disagree. I just don't like to see people harshly reprimanded when it seems like they just made an innocent mistake.

Nobody reprimanded anyone though. I'm not sure why people here so often interpret the sharing of facts or information that is given in a straight-forward manner as being harsh or rude.
