One-day sale for select cities. Although I couldn't get a flight from my city into MCO, I was able to get a $32 fare into St. Augustine/Jacksonville airport. So, the plan is to rent a car and drive to MCO, then take ME to the resort! Even with the rental car, saved at least $500 over Southwest fares right now!

Did you include Frontier fee's into that savings?
Even with their stupid fees, that's an incredible fare. I used to fly them all the time, but I now avoid it since they started charging seat fees, overhead fees, etc.

But for $32??? Sign me up! Congratulations!!!

Incredible yes, but the OP didn't mention how many persons were in their party.

$25 for carry on
$25 for baggage

adds up real quick if you have a 4+.

That's not even seat selection yet.

I signed up for their program and if you do you pay a reduced amount. It's $15 for a checked bag and $20 for a carry on. Seat assignments are $3 a seat for the rear and $5 for the front except the first few rows which are $20 and extra room. Yesterday the tickets were $32 out of Dulles into Tampa. Service just started out of Dulles this month.

I could easily check a big bag and have a small carry-on to go under the seat. So 32 + 5 + 15 = 52. $104 r/t?? Incredible, close to the cost of one night hotel or one day park ticket. It would be very hard to pass up and not take multiple trips. If not for all the money we spend once we get there, of course!

Yes, this is exactly what I did - signed up for their program to get the $15 checked bags. There are 5 of us, so I plan on doing 5 checked bags and no carry ons - just personal items (backpacks). And did the $5/seat to be close to the front = $25. And booked the rental car for $80 (will keep checking for discounts). So total to get there = $335 for the 5 of us. Cheapest SW flight for that day is $148pp = 740. So, as much as I would rather fly into MCO and just be there, it is worth the 2-hour drive to save that much money. Now just have to find a return flight!

So when Frontier offers these fares they aren't for each leg of a round-trip, you have to potentially pay quite a bit more for the return? If so, I should have known Frontier would have a catch!

You'll have to lie about your flights to Disney to use ME. They won't let you board unless you give them MCO flight information.

You might want to call DME to confirm that they will allow you to use the bus service and go ahead and make a reservation. They wont let you board without a reservation.

DME: (866) 599-0951

You could always drive your rental car to wdw and drop off there, that way you don't have to keep moving your luggage. If you use alamo or national you can drop off at the car care center and they will shuttle you back to your resort. Drop off your luggage and family first then return your car.

I actually did call dme before I booked the flight. I was debating most if the day whether to do it. He told me you do not have to have an incoming flight in order to use dme. It's only dependent on whether you have a resort reservation. I completely explained my situation and he said no problem. That was the deciding factor for me. I was going to drive right to disney but the rental car companies at that airport were not located right in Disney....or at least not that I know of...like Alamo.

I believe Alamo has a drop off at the car care center just outside MK and they will bus you back to your resort.

Alamo is located right on disney property. You can drop off the car at the care center and they will shuttle you back to your resort. It would be easier to move your luggage once and drive right to your resort and check in. I would crunch the numbers and see which has the best price.

Dollar is located at the Wyndham across the street from DTD. And Avis is located at the Hilton that is a 5 minute walk to DTD. We have rented from both companies and we just take the DTD bus back to the resort when we are done with the rental car.

here is the link to the "sticky" with all the info about rental company at or near WDW. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2927109

We had a friend going from CLE to Denver on Frontier who got stranded at the airport for a day and a half a few months ago because his Frontier plane had a mechanical problem. Frontier has such a small fleet of planes they did not spare plane to take the place of the broken one so they were stuck waiting for the next time Frontier was scheduled to fly into Cleveland. Lucky for them there was room on the next flight for them. Did I mention they waited a day and a 1/2 for that flight to arrive! And that is the reason we won't fly on airlines with a small fleet of planes. All is takes is on hiccup in the system to throw off your travel plans.

Shelly - noooooooo  - don't tell me things like that! I was so nervous about booking Frontier. We've only ever flown Airtran/Southwest! Oh well, what's done is done, now I just have to hope for the best. Thank you for all the rental car info - I actually have used Alamo at wdw before. What I was trying to say (not worded very well), was that the rental car companies at the St Augustine/Jacksonville airport were NOT alamo - if it was, I probably would just drive right there. I was not aware there was an Avis that close. It would probably get us to Disney faster if we just drove there and then took the car to the Hilton. I guess I can decide that later, but for now good to know that we can take ME. I was trying to do as much research as I could yesterday, but was a one-day sale and had to make a decision!

Shelly is correct. This was a concern of ours when booking. We are flying down one day early for a cruise and I struggled over trying this new airline out of Dulles. Since we bought insurance for this trip to include airfare, we figured if our flight gets cancelled we could drive to Reagan or Baltimore and hopefully grab a flight there. We are not flying frontier home since I'm not sure they participate in RAC and got a good flight price on united.

Yes, the bad part is - they only have one flight a day going down there. They do have a flight directly to MCO, but that one is earlier in the day. Ugh. I guess I'll start working on a worst case scenario plan just in case. Thanks for the info. Better to be aware and prepared!
