I don't get it spent all last night trying to get it. I think it is from my understanding I quart size bag, one per person with 3 ounce liquids correct me if I am wrong

Or can I just put full size liquids like my shampoo in my checked bag

You are right: if you want to put any liquids in your carry on bag: each person can have 1 quart sized bag--you can fill that bag with 3 ounce bottles of liquids (shampoo, perfume, lotion, whatever). Liquid prescription meds do not have to go in that bag & do not count in your 3-1-1.

You can put whatever sized containers you want inside your checked bags. Those are not limited to the 3-1-1 rule.

EDIT to add: don't forget there are weight limits on your checked bags. If you are going to put full sized toiletries like shampoo in your checked bags, remember they can be kind of heavy. I try to take smaller sized bottles anyway or put them in small bottles anyway, just to save weight.

One little correction:

Not quite true, or more accurately, not broad enough. Liquid OTC meds also count under the "medications" exception. Contact lens solution and spare contacts in blister paks are included in this exception.

Note that sunblock/sunscreen is *not* considered an OTC med by the TSA. Any liquid, cream, or spray sunblock that is over 3 oz. must be put in checked baggage.
