After much thought, and a recent Disney show on televsion, we have gotten the itch to spend another week next january at the Fort. Couple of questions for all you folks. Where can I find a layout showing each campsite by number, and when making a reservation can we put in a request for a certain loop, october 2006 we got loop 100 because our site on loop 200 hadn't been vacated at 1:00pm. by the previous camper, and they didn't know where the person was. Guess they felt sorry for two very persistent older people. Thanks for any help with this.

There is no layout of campsites by number except in the heavily guarded vaults of the Ft. Wilderness desk staff.

When you make a reservation, the only thing you are guaranteed is the "level" of site that you book. (Partial, Full, Preferred). You can make a "request" of which loop you would like. In addition, you need to list the size of your rig/tow vehicle and slideouts/awnings, extra shelters (if any) so that they can assign you a site that will best fit your equipment.

You can put in a request for a certain loop. Not sure where to find a map with a pic of every site. I know when you check in they have a book that will show you each loop site by site. But the map they give you only shows the loop.

What they dont show you is all the little obstructions on roads by the sites. Last year we asked for 300 and got and was sent to our site, after waiting 45 min for a motorhome working his way into his site, it was my turn. After several trys and scraping a small fence across from our site, I gave up.

They sent me to another 300 site but the people across from that site had parked their vehicle across the drive way from our site and again no luck. We finally were sent 800 loop to a great site in the loop middle next to a comfort station. We have been in the 300 loop before and was gave a nice site, backed in first try. So I guess its the luck of the draw sometimes.

Thanks for the tip on the loop being kind of tight. On our previous trip we did ride the loops and made some notes on sites we liked. We will be using a trailer 30 ft so don't that will be a problem rather than a class A.

Thats was what I was using 30', but depending on the site and location of trees, sign post, permanent garbage cans, small fences, etc. it can be hard.

Seriously, those garbage cans are killer!

I think when they were installing them they said, "ok, now what is the least convenient location for these? How many RVs can we block from their sites?"

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Dont forget the post and everything else they can stick in our way.:confused3

The last time we were there we had a 30' trailer with cab and a half long bed ford, I got into my site on 900 first try, it was tight but I cut the corner as I started to back in, and had dw watch the front of truck on neighbors car as I followed it arround. But during the week I saw plenty of people not be able to make it into spaces on loop. I am a little worried about new truck and TT all told, it is probably about 7' longer and new truck has turning radius of a disney bus.:lmao:

My parents have a GMC van with a 30' TT I can get it backed in every time no problem. But with my 5er it can be a real pain some times. My truck is a 4 door long bed plus I always put a front replacement bumper on my trucks which adds about 1' and a half more to get in the way. It has been a little better with my 05 then my 00. The 05 has a sharper turning radius which helps.

Yeah, I hear ya, my 06 could drive a circle inside the circle that I could make with the dually, but it sure does tow the trailer nice. I think it actually is a little dangerous, it makes you forget that something is back there..

After rethinking our quote and price from Disney I'm wondering if the premium full service loops are worth it. Value season, premium site, mid january, full hookup, $88. What the heck happened to value season? Something sure sounds wrong here.

Jim

I assume you are talking Jan 09? Rates havent been set yet. Disney set an estimated price high enough to cover what the actual cost will be. Everyone likes finding out the actual cost will be lower---no one likes paying more than quoted. I believe 09 rates come out late spring/early summer.

thanks for all the repsonses. Too bad the person didn't specify this when giving us the quote. We did know about the price was pending increases.

Just run the posts over. That's what I did in the 1000 loop. I didn't see the post and didn't hit it on purpose but I also didn't feel bad when I saw it laying on the ground. I doubt I'd ever ask for 100-300 loop as I've seen some of the tightest spots up there. 700-900 and 1600-1800 have some pretty roomy sites.

I wouldnt worry about it either. Some times you just cant help it. As nice as it would be to have more room in the 200 loop for backing in. I dont want them changing a thing.

LOL... TheBigGuy was backing the MoHo into our space in the 700 loop, and I was doing my best to "help" him..... lol......

Best I could do was to hold back the inflatable Christmas decorations and move the reindeer feeding trays that were set up so close to the road/sites so that he could get in. It was close, but doable.

Ya know, we liked that loop. I think I'll call tomorrow and request it.
