I was born in 1969. I was watching "Happy Days" in the '70s which was set in the '50s. It seemed like such a world away even though it was only 20 years prior.

If a 7 year old kid today is watching a show set in 1990, the culture of that time is as foreign to him/her as the 50's were to me.

I hate getting old!

1980 doesn't seem like that long ago. I was 34. :upsidedow

In 1980 I wasn't quite a thought in my mother's mind yet. My parents were just about dating around then. I didn't come until 1984. :)

I was 9, DH was 10.

CathrynRose, I remember all of the songs you listed. Even have a few faves in there. As far as Queen's song, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", I only remember hearing that song done by The Chipmunks on their Chipmunk Punk album.

I still HAVE that Chipmunk Punk album! :lmao:

I'm oooooold....

Robin, you've mentioned this fact several times now, please stop. You are not old! Do you hear me???? You are NOT OLD!!!! And I know this because you are not THAT much older than me (you are what, 50?) and I am oh-so-very-young. So, no more of this 'old' stuff ok? Because if you do well then 'blah-blah-blah-blah, I'm plugging my ears...I can't hear you!' :lmao:

I was a Senior in High School, and if I remember right was getting ready for Spring Break in Hawaii! Can't believe it has been 30 years since my one and only trip there! I worked like a dog to save enough $, was $250 short and my folks covered it as an early graduation gift:worship:!
30 years ago was great now that I can look back on it, :thumbsup2

:lmao: I'm just joking. I am NOT anti-Old, I enjoy EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! :cool1:

That's why I joke about it. I see no plusses in being young, been there done that. Everyone, if they're blessed, gets old, and it's something to be proud of.

In my world old=Wisdom. I was young and dumb WAY too long, I enjoy watching the world go thru what I went through and just wait for them to get where I AM! :thumbsup2

Damn, I was already 20 and working full time.

Thanks for helping me feel old....

:rotfl:

You're all just babies! In 1980, I was 33, had been married for 14 years, had two kids and lived in three different countries! Ah, the good old days!

Not to make anyone feel old but...that was the year before MTV hit the airwaves. MTV debuted on 8/1/81. And yes, I'm old enough to remember life before MTV.

I remember I couldn't wait to come home from school when it started in September because I needed my MTV fix.

1980-I was 8/9 (b-day is October 1971...hmm...6 days after WDW opened).

It was around that time I started wearing the Sergio Valentes (sp) and Jordache Jeans. Oh how cool :rolleyes1 . As well as the leg warmers and friendship beads or whatever they were callled-but we made them on safety pins with the little tiny pony beads & would put them on our sneakers-either our Jox or Thom McCanns. And the barrets I would make with skinny ribbon. And the monogramed sweaters. OMG I am living a nightmare of fashion horrors right now...ack!

All in all the 80's were a great time for me. I was a teenager & I never understood it when my mother would tell me she'd rather be in school/teenager then be at work. I hated school like most kids & wanted to be done with it. But if I could go back...oh those memories I made growing up.....

I loved the 80’ies!!! By then we had 4 busy teenagers and were enjoying all the hustle bustle of their activites and house full of friends. Great times and memories !

I got married in 1980, so we're celebrating our 30th anniversary this year. We were worried about ashfall from Mt. St. Helens on our outdoor wedding, but it didn't happen.
