Hello! I have a question for y'all.... when you are in Orlando, there are booths outside of places like drug stores, shopping centers etc. I know a lot of them are for free tickets to Disney that have to do with the time shares. That I am not interested in. But what about the ones that you see where they are unused days for Disney for like $30? Are they ligit companys? Can you actually use someone elses unused days? I wouldn't want to purchase one and find out it is no good. We are leaving in 6 days so hopefully someone can help me out before then! Thanks!!~Missy:earsboy:

Buyer beware!!! You have no way to confirm how many days are on the ticket until you get to WDW. I wouldn't buy them.

A ticket that is totally used up, one that's half used and a new one all look exactly the same. If you buy a ticket from an unofficial place and it turns out to have fewer days or be used up, you have no recourse. I think anyone would be crazy to buy from there or from e-bay, for that matter.

I didn't know you could even buy them on ebay! lol ok, I think we will buy the reg. full price tickets then. I would rather be safe, than sorry!! Thanks for your advice!!!~Missy::MinnieMo

It seems here are often families on the news that buy these things to save a hundred $$$ on Disney tickets, then they wind up being no good, or Disney confiscates them. The people really have no recourse in this situation.

However, there are also legitmate ticket sellers that operate in the Orlando area. Unfortunately, there is no real way to tell the scammer from the legitimate sales person. I have purchased tickets for attractions (not Disney) from a booth inside a Perkin's before, and they were fine and saved only about 7% off the ones available directly when entering the attraction (in my case it was Splendid China). I did feel a little more secure knowing that they were located inside a legitimate restaurant chain, and knowing they paid rent to them for that location. If the tickets seem like a really good deal, and you're saving more than 5% to 7%, I would be very leary.

or Disney confiscates them

Does anyone know how many tickets confiscates that still have days left on them? Do they confiscate any?

They take tickets away all the time. I have seen news reports about those tickets.

I suggest you check out Ticketmania as well as the Official Ticket Center. Please note that these prices include taxes already and the disney website advance purchase prices do not include taxes. So in the end they are a little cheaper and are both legit.

A lot of the time, these "ticket counters" want you to check out their timeshares before you can purchase the tickets.

Gotcha! I will pay full price for them then! that isn't saving money if they take them away from you. Or if they are not any good! lol Thanks for the advice!! Checking out ticket mania right now... Thanks guys!! ~Missy

Also--timeshares are not allowed to offer "free tix" to Disney for hearing a sales pitch #1 implies disney endorsed #2 competes with DVC--so if you see free--it is a scam, no matter how legit it seems.

Discounted tickets require you to hear a sales pitch--they are offered in hotels all over Orlando--if you have the time to spare to listen to a pitch--purchase from there.

Otherwise buy from an authorized ticket agent (AAA, Travel information centers off I-75 near the turnpike in Florida).

Correct me if I am wrong--multi-day tix have guest names--so the reason they are confiscated would have something to do with the scanner not working properly and the tix not matching ID.

Park Hopper and Park Hopper Plus tickets do not have names on the tickets, and guests with those tickets do not use the scanner. Most single day tickets do not have names, either. Can't imagine why Disney would confiscate those - they have no idea who orignally purchased them.

OTOH, annual passes of all types and selected other "specialty tickets" (such as the 10 Day World Pass and FITS tickets) do have names on them and guests with those media do use the biometric scanners. If there is a problem with the scanner and the guest cannot produce ID matching the ticket, Disney does indeed confiscate the ticket.
