**30 Day Shred Challenge**

I have just started the South Beach diet...I usually do WW or low fat only to gain it back again...I need to lose 40 pounds to feel comfortable with myself again. I would say 55 to be at my ideal weight. Tell me about the 30 day Shred...I have not heard of this....Thanks and count me in on posting each week!

The 30 day shred is a DVD workout by Jillian Michaels the trainer from Biggest Loser. There are 3 levels of 20 minute workouts. Level 1 for 10 days Level 2 for 10 days and Level 3 for 10 days. They claim you can lose up to 20 lbs in a month. I haven't seen anyone with those results yet but I've seen people lose between 10-15 and tons of inches.

I just did it today and I can absolutely see how it would work! Hope you'll join us!

I like the idea of a post in day! I'm starting out at 177. UGH. My highest weight ever is 187 and that was about 6 MONTHS ago when I started trying to lose weight.. and most of that came off in the first 2 weeks so yeah.. I've slacked a bit LOL. I'm a horrible yo-yo dieter. I usually let myself get to 165 or so then lose down to 140... then slowly gain it back. Over the last year I just let it keep going and keep going though :( So, I'm determined to get to 150. We are currently TTC though so if I get pregnant this month the goal will be a bit diff. :goodvibes If this month isn't successful we are waiting 3 months to TTC again (I get horribly sick while in the first 3-4 months of pregnancy and dont' want that to happen at disney)

Ah, thanks for posting that! DD & I were talking yesterday about when/how to move up levels. Definitely not ready for that! Is it supposed to be done every day or every other? I did it yesterday but have been cleaning & did not get to it today. I'm hoping for every other day but will start every day if I have to.

Ok. Just completed Day 1 Level 1 and I am SO SORE already!!! I've just realized how out of shape I am...remember when you were little and jumping jacks used to be fun??? Not anymore thank you Jillian....

ITA and had to giggle at your post! :lmao: I keep thinking how great it will be when level 1 seems easy....one day.

On a scale of 1-10 how hard would you say the workout is? And are you using the DVD or the Wii game? Last question- are there different workouts or is it the same workout each day?

TIA!!

They are hard workouts but it does get easier. I would say an 8. I am using the DVD. There are 3 different workouts, level 1, 2 and 3. I am doing 10 days on each level.

I just finished day 17. I have not lost any weigh but then again its the holidays and I have not changed my eating habits at all. Having said that, at the start of level 2-Day 11 I measured myself and I had lost 1 inch on my waist and 1/2 inch on my hips.

I will re-measure myself on day 20.

I'm in!! I have three kids and I gained about 20 lbs from my starting weight of the first one to the starting weight of the third one. I would lose a ton of weight with each one nursing for a year, and then gain it all back plus 10 lbs. Then, 2 years ago, I had a miscarriage and I swear, my body (or my head must have thought I was still pregnant and I gained 20 lbs.

Just typing it is hard...40 lbs. I've tried diet doctors with their prescriptions, South Beach diet, giving myself pep talks in the shower.

So, thanks for the intro to the 30-day shred - I'll get it tomorrow at Target, and I hope that having a good support group here will be what I need. My husband is thin, and he EATS. And, I like to eat, so bad bad combination. I have got to keep the food journal, that is always eye opening for me.

Good luck to everyone! Thanks for the open invitation!

Okay, this seems like a safe place to share so I'm in! 5 years ago I lost a lot of weight, got down to 158. Kept it off for almost 2 years, now I weigh even more than I did before I lost the weight. I'm at 200 :( Not where I want to be. I have all the weight watcher kits and will count points. I also got Wii Fit Plus for Christmas. I'll commit to more activity and counting points. (I can't afford to sign up for WW meetings again) Can I come here to post my weekly activity and success / setbacks?

Started with my eating today, so far so good. The urge to snack is incredibly hard though, so I am trying to keep busy. Starting the DVD tomorrow, wish me luck!

Absolutely come here!! I can't fit WW into my budget now either but I did online before anyway and I think it just helps to have somewhere to go to talk to others for support:)

I'm so glad so many people are joining!! And to those of you started already congrats!! I. AM. SO. SORE. TODAY. Going to put in 8 hours at the hospital and hopefully when I come home I'm shooting for Day 2:scared1: Also hoping the cafeteria has some healthy options...just finished a special k bar (90 calories and LOVE them..the vanilla ones taste like a rice krispie:love:)

I would like to join. I weight more now than I did when 9 months pregnant all those years ago.

I can not really start till Monday, because DH. We are trying to have family time.

I am getting the 30 day from netflix this week and will be using the wii fit some as well. I also am adding sit ups and walking up/down the stairs into this mix till the DVD arrives.

I have already started watching what I eat, but I am an emotional eater. There has been a lot of stress lately so we shall see how this works. Any idea on what to snack on that will not add the weight, but will help with the emotional eater problem? I am going to pick up carrots (love to snack on those.)

Some of my favorite low point (WW) snacks are

100 calorie popcorn
cheese sticks
salsa (0 pts) and chips (usually 3 pts)
special k bars
wheatables
sf/ff pudding

Okay, I'm in! I love the Disboards, but am more of a lurker than anything. I really need to lose some weight, though, so I'm de-lurking to join! I have been thinking about what to do, as far as exercise goes, and I've never heard of the "30 Day Shred". This sounds like a good plan, though, and I know once I start working out I'll eat better so I won't "undo" all my hard work. I need to lose about 50 pounds :scared1:, but will be happy with 35. I don't think I can get away with saying it's the baby weight anymore, since the baby will be 4 years old soon.:sad2: I'm going to start on Monday, which will give me tonight and tomorrow to prepare the kitchen and get some healthy snacks.

Hi Everyone!!
Kudos to everyone who has started getting healthy!! I think I want to try too. The church we go to is doing a Daniel Fast????? Has anyone ever heard of that? I thought it would jump start me in the right direction. I have a lot to lose, and so does my DH. Im also getting Wii Fit Plus for my bday (went to get it today but Walmart was out of it). Also, this year my company has switched insurance companies, and in order to get a 20% discount, you have to have biometric testing and consultation (YUCK) and my appt is next friday~!!! how can I quickly scrub out the cholesterol and get my blood lookin good???????

I hope we can stick together and motivate each other!!\

Wendy:cool1:

Did my workout for the day and am eating healthy (so far!). Steelers game is on at 1:00 and DH always wants a snack...so I'm making Caprese Pizza which is basically pizza dough, a little EVOO, mozzarella, tomato, basil. Super yummy and not too bad for the diet:thumbsup2

Hope everyone's hanging in there-the workout definitely gets easier...unfortunately the soreness not so much:confused3
