I normally wear contacts. Will this work out at DC? If I don't wear SOMETHING I won't be able to see much, and I can't imagine wearing glasses while snorkeling.

I have the same problem.

We are booked to DC for April and I emailed them and asked their advice. You are OK to wear glasses for the dolphin swim although they suggested securing them with a sweatband. I thought I would wear an old pair of sunglasses attached to one of those coloured straps, then if they get lost/damaged it won't be the end of the world.

For the snorkelling they have a selection of prescription masks that you can hire, so it would be an idea to take a note of your prescription with you - it would save trying all the masks on!!!

It never occured to me that they would provide Rx masks! THAT's a good piece of information. Thanks!

I can see either without glasses and I don't wear contacts normally but I went and got a pair to go to DC and just kept my goggles on the whole time (except pic. below-I made FI wear them for pic). The goggles fit tight and no water gets in.

I had no idea the had RX masks!! I am having Lasik Wed. so it won't be a problem next time I go but I should have asked about that last tiem I was there!

I visited DC Nov. 29 of this year. I too normally wear contacts or glasses. For a refundable fee of $75 you can rent a prescription mask (at the jewelery shop). What a godsend! I could actually see underwater!! I wore my mask on my head all day and would pull it down if there was something I needed to see. I felt like a real geek sometimes, but hey, I could see!

Be sure to bring your prescription from your eye doc...although I still had to try on several pair to get the right vision. Or I suppose you could just try on the whole drawer if you forget your prescript.

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie on the board and looking forward to my first trip to WDW in November 04 :Pinkbounc I too wear contacts but can't see anything without them. Is it possible to just wear them and then have goggles that don't have a prescription too? I haven't thought about this until I read this thread. Otherwise with prescription goggles, I'd have to wear them the whole day, through lunch and everything :earseek: . Would not look forward to that at all.

Hope it's not to cold in November for the dolphin swim, but we are going no matter what! :earsboy:

We're just back. We went to Discovery Cove last week. More later on what an awesome time we had!

I did end up just wearing my contacts under my mask. It worked out fine. The mask leaked a little, but not enough to affect my contacts. I didn't want to use the Rx mask because I'd only be able to see if I had it on, and I didn't want to miss anything!
