We've been to VB twice before, but I still have a couple of questions.

1. Can you get a massage there? Seems like I remember they were available, but maybe only on certain days. I'm going in Oct. Do I need to call and schedule one ahead of time?

2. We wanted two connecting OVIR's. I called a month or so ago to see what was available and I was assured I could get two connecting rooms. When I called back later to get the ressie, I was told it was only a request and they could not be for sure that I could get connecting rooms. Is it possible the first person who told me they were available knew something the person I made the ressie with didn't know?

3. If coming through Atlanta - would you go to Orlando and cut over to VB or head toward Jacksonville and down the coast to VB? We'd want to do which ever got us there quicker! When we use online mapping - different sites show different ways. Just curious which is better.

TIA

I can help you with #3. We live in North Ga and when we are doing only VB or Orlando following the beach we go thru Jacksonville. I promise you it will save you hours off your driving time!!!!

For the massages, you shouldn't need to call ahead of time... Just stop by Eb & Flo's when you check in for a list of types of massages and prices.... They are great.. :thumbsup2 The only way I would call ahead is if I was only going to be there for a day or two and wanted to make sure I got one.

As far as the connecting OVIR's go... Make sure you put that down as a request... Then... 1-2 days before check-in, contact the resort (after your ressie has downloaded from MS), and put the request in with the Room Controller AGAIN... There is still no guarantee, but at least you may have a better chance...

We did just as mbhoxsie said. We put the request on both room reservations then called a couple days before hand to see if the resort knew of the request.

I felt fairly comfortable requesting conecting rooms, but I got nervous on the day since it is just a request.

This was a the floor map on our room door. The oceanside of the inn is the upper side of the map. You can see the connecting doors. On the fourth floor there were 7 pairs of OVIRs. The laundry and elevators are on the lower left side.

We just returned from a week at VB. We live in Illinois and come down through Georgia. Last year we came by Orlando and down Florida Turnpike. This year we did the Jacksonville down the coast on 95 route. We said we much preferred the Orlando-Turnpike route. It's just a personal preference. Hope you have a great trip no matter which way you go

Thanks for the map - that helps alot (except now I'm convinced I need to get new glasses!)

Anyone know if any of the King Rooms at VB are also connecting rooms? That would be great if we had a King room connecting to a regular room. The trip would be perfect if such a thing was possible!!!!!!!

I asked the question about a connecting king room last year with the same idea in mind! From what I understand, the king rooms are unfortunately not connecting. They are both (the OV ones anyway) on the forth floor. They are on the corners of the main section of the Inn. If you look at the floor map there are three Inn rooms in the center of the the building (we were in two of these! beautiful!) and a king room on each side. Do you see the rooms I'm talking about?? They are not normal shaped rectangle.

I would love to see a floor plan of the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Inn as well. If anyone goes to VB soon take a pic of that map!

lisareniff: Thanks, I didn't figure that configuration existed, but it couldn't hurt to wish! I would love to have the rooms you had before. We stayed in one of those in 2001 and it was so nice and large. The next time we went, our room was much smaller and the roofline really affected the room. We could have reserved a 1BR or a 2BR; but I really want to face the ocean and I also like being in the Inn.

That center room is a real winner! such a nice view and balcony.

I always try to add to the OVIR threads...... that the rooms on the north and south sides are also considered OV and might not have a head on view of the ocean but include the pool to the south or the other building to the north. I always like to know these things to keep my expectations in line with reality. :teeth:
