3-Night Wonder (4/30-5/2) Traveling with young children report :)- *Completed*

Thanks so much for your report! It was great! We are going on our first cruise this November and we will have our almost-3 year old DD with us. I've been a bit anxious about that, but your report answered lots of questions and has made me even more excited! You seem like a great Mom!

I also enjoyed reading your report. I think you did a great job enjoying your vacation while including your children's needs. :flower3:

loved the report! glad that you guys such a wonderful time! this was the first time i had heard mention of the wagons on castaway cay. is there a charge to rent them?

No charge for using the wagons but I would get there fairly early as I would imagine they would be popular. They were found right when we got off the tram. It was such a help with little ones.

When we picked up Lydia she looked absolutely adorable in her princess nightgown with matching slippers. Everyone fell asleep easily however Lydee woke up a little while later fussing. At first I couldn’t figure out what the problem was but quickly figured out that she still had on her princess slippers and one had come off. She was not going to go to sleep until her slippers were in place. Now it was time for sweet dreams for everyone.

Now that's a TRUE princess...not being able to sleep until her little pink satin slippers are in place! princess: I love it!

Great trip report. I enjoyed reading it. And you're girls are just adorable. I especially loved the pictures on Castaway Cay. Thank you for sharing your trip with those of us dying to go again :)

What was the weather like for you?

Average temperature?

Were the waters calm?

I'm looking at this same weekend next year w/ my Mom who hates the heat. One of the officers suggested late April early May for calm seas & mild weather.

How was the weather for you? It looked nice?

Loved your trip report!!! You have a lovely family :goodvibes

We are thinking of doing a cruise next year, our daughter will be almost 3 years old (couple of months shy I think) and not sure about the potty training so she may still be in nappies. Do you think you would have enjoyed having another night on the ship or was 3 nights enough? Because we cannot put our daughter in any of the clubs/organised activities I think 3 nights will be enough and wonder if the extra day/night on the ship would be a bit stressful and boring for hertyp. Would love your opinion on this please!

Glad you had such a lovely time :cool1:

What a wonderful trip report!! I never got around to doing mine, but reading yours makes me want to!

I see that you guys are headed back to The World soon...lucky!! I'm jealous!

We're planning for Disneyland/Legoland for next spring, and then I think we'll head back to WDW for Christmas 2010. Of course, Scot and I are already working out the logistics of another cruise. We still daydream every few days about how wonderful it all was.

One of my favorite memories from the cruise was meeting your family! Scot still laughs how that was his "proof" that disboarders are real people! :)

Be sure to post a trip report from your Disney World trip! I'll be looking forward to hearing how it goes!

Chris

The weather for our trip was beautiful. I am embarrased to say I have no recollection of the temperature. Other than at the sail away party, I don't remember ever being too hot and I definitely wasn't ever cold. I would agree with the description of being mild. I live in Florida so it just doesn't stand out to me.

The seas I do remember! They were perfect! I would definitely sail this time of year again.

I would love to take the 4-night cruise, however the 3-night was a great first cruise for my girls. I got to see how they handled it. We definitely want to go for longer next time. Naps, as I mentioned in my TR really ate up a lot of time. I don't think the extra night would be boring for your little one. We only put our youngest in Flounders from 8-11pm each night so it isn't like she spent the day there, she actually slept there more than she played. I will say we won't be taking a 7-night until both girls can go to the clubs. Hope that made sense :)

Hi Chris!
It is good to hear from you. Glad you liked the TR! I'd love to hear your perspective on the same cruise. Yes, we still day dream often of taking another cruise. The girls, as young as they are, really keep the memories fresh by asking to see the video or the pictures often.

I still think it was so funny and fabulous that we met up by accident and that your table was almost next to ours.

I won't have a trip report for Disney World because we bought Annual Passes!!!!! In fact, we were there today. I will enjoy it so much more when summer is over. The crowds haven't been as bad as the weather. It is hard to miss an afternoon storm here in FL in the summer. I didn't enjoy my time as much I would have liked since I was watching these black clouds most of the day. We have only been 4 times but once fall and winter come, we will go more often for longer visits. Last week we only stayed for about 3 hours because of a bad storm.

Keep in touch! I can't wait to hear about your Disneyland/Legoland trip. If you ever see the "Kid's Sail Free" deal again- let me know! Maybe we can meet up on another cruise :)

Thanks for the help with the little ones. Mine are 3, 4 and 7. My sister and I are taking the 4 and 7 year old on the 3 night wonder, leaving this Thursday. Could you clarify a few things for me? First cruise for all of us.

How does room service work? I have only done it twice at hotels and all the fees add up so fast. Do you have to tip (in addition to the checkout tip) or have a delivery fee? or is it really all included? I would love to use it for quick breakfast or rest time snacks, like you did.

I think we will like our late dinner now that you explained a bit how you did it. Could I ask to switch to an early dinner on one night or if I switch does it have to be for all nights?

Are the wagons on CC free or do you rent them? Are there any free float tubes to use at the family beach? Can you bring any from home and be allowed to use them?

Do the kids have a chance to sleep, after say 9pm, at the Oceaneer's club? Mine might be wanting to rest, but I don't think I will be ready to rest yet!

THanks for your tips, Marrriedmyprince

Sorry that I was unable to respond to all your questions before your trip. Hopefully you got most of your info. from the main board and had a nice trip.

Mommy2paris! I have to thank you for your message. I haven't been on the DIS cruise board for awhile and received your comment by e-mail last night. I did not know there was a Kids Sail Free Deal going on and checked in out! It looks like we'll be sailing in April!!!!! Thanks for the heads up!

I am so glad that I wrote this report. As we start to think about our next cruise, it is so much fun to look back at the last one!
