I don't see a Meet thread started for this cruise, so I am starting one. This is our first cruise as a family. We love:love: Disney & have taken the kids (ages at time of cruise will be 12-boy, 10-girl, 7-girl) to the parks in Florida many times and California twice. We decided to 'try' a 3-night cruise to see if we like it. This is a 40th bray present for me from dh. He has no desire to go on a cruise but is happy to give it a try. He booked the shorter cruise after reading so many mixed reviews. Prior to the cruise wevare going to Universal, which is new for us. We can't wait to go to the wizarding World of Harry Potter.

I hope others introduce themselves here for our cruise meet :cool1:

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Hi! I just booked this cruise for me and dd! She'll be 7 when we cruise. We have an 11c GTY booked. This will be cruise #5 for me and #4 for dd. We were just on the 3/10 sailing of the Dream and can't wait to go back!!

We are booked! My dh, myself, and dd(10 at sail), ds(8 at sail) and ds(5 at sail). My brother is coming along for the fun too. We're hoping to book a few days at BCV after the cruise. First time cruisers. We tried for this April on the Dream and things didn't go to plan, so we're really looking forward to next year!

I am so glad to see others are joining this meet :) We have over a year to count this down....it is a surprise to our kids, so I have no one to talk to about it . My husband is tired of my obsession :rotfl2:

It looks like your daughters will be my daughters ages (7) & (10) at time of cruise. Hopefully, my son will have kids his age (12 at cruise).

We are in a category 8D...not sure how the categories work but dh was too nervous about a verandah and the kids, so I know it is ocean view without a verandah. Deck 6.

Have you all thought about what your plans are for Nassau? My older 2 would love the Atlantis waterpark, but the cost for the 5 of us is quite steep. We might spend the $ at the new Sea World water park in Orlando and then go on the Blue Lagoon Dolphin excursion.

I read posts on here at least twice a day

We had our first verandah on the 3/10 Dream and LOVED it! The railing is super high, so it's kids safe. I suppose the could always try and climb on the chairs, but that's why I always kept an eye on my dd. Fortunately, the lock on the door to get outside is REALLY high, so it would be impossible for little ones to reach it.

We probably won't do anything in Nassau this trip. We've done the aquarium in Atlantis before and there's a neat pirate museum too within walking distance of the ship. Have you considered renting a room at Comfort Suites to do Atlantis? I see people doing that all the time on here and it seems to be much cheaper.

I know our kids would be fine on the verandah, but dh is much too nervous. He worries about all scenarios ;). I have considered booking through Comfort Suites and will look more seriously once we get closer. We would need to book 2 rooms because we are a party of 5.

Did your daughter like the kids clubs on your recent cruise?

My dd enjoyed the kids clubs for the most part. I think that part of it was that she's so used to the smaller, more intimate setting on the Wonder, that the Dream's kids club was kind of intimidating. There are MANY more kids and the two clubs (Oceaneer Club and Lab) are joined, so it definitely makes it a little crazy! :lmao: I must say that while the Dream is beautiful, etc, I definitely miss the kids club on the Wonder. On the Dream it was definitely chaotic.

I think my older 2 will like the clubs, but not sure about my youngest. She gets overwhelmed by lots of crowds, chaos and likes to stick close to us. She might be OK if she has her older sister (who will be 10.5 at the cruise) with her, but then my son will be alone in the Edge (12 at cruise time). I am planning on the girls both going to the Oceaneer Lab/Club, but my daugter (10.5 at cruise time) says she wants to go with her brother. It isn't going to happen, but I'll argue that point with her later. They don't even know they are going on the cruise...they are hoping to go someday ;) Hopefully, my older daughter can find some girls her age to hang out with in the Oceaneer Lab/Club because ages 3 to 10 yrs is quite varied. I am OK with them hanging out with dh and I, after they explore the clubs and then decide. We'll find plenty of fun things to do. We'd like at least 1-2 hours kid-free on the cruise...

Since our girls will be the same age on the cruise (7), we should get them to meet and maybe they'll hit it off! :) That's what we did this last time. One of the people on our cruise had an 8 year old autistic son, and they were worried about leaving him. I told her that my dd will be friends with anyone, so we had them meet and they hung out together a lot. He wasn't in there often, so that may have been a big part of why she didn't stay a lot.

Mom2brooke....yes, I'd love for the girls to meet. She does much bettervwhen she recognizes a familiar face. She will also be friends with anyone :goodvibes

I haven't been on here for a while...wanted to check back. I can't wait until we get closer to our countdown

Hello! Just booked this cruise. We are surprising my mil for Christmas. So it will be me, my dh, and my mil. Looking forward to counting down with all of you!:goodvibes

Welcome Keira! I am excited that more people are joining our meet. I can't wait for April to get here :) Your wedding picture is beautiful. You are a great DIL to give this surprise to your MIL.

We still haven't told the kids. I don't want to surprise them the day of the cruise...we did that with our youngest for a Disney Halloween trip. I've htought about incorporating the cruise surprise in with Christmas, but I'm not sure. I might wait and include it as an Easter egg/Treasure hunt.

Anyone else getting excited for our cruise???? Any newcomers to our thread meet???

Hi all!
I have booked this cruise for my dh and dd (who will be 18 months on the cruise). We have been many many times to WDW but this is our first cruise--I am giving it to my dh for Christmas! Cant Wait!!

Mky4Life-We (DH & I) have decided to give this to the kids on Christmas. I already set up the phone call from Mickey for Christmas Day that will tell them about the cruise. At the same time as the phone call, they will be opening a large box with lots of Mickey shaped helium balloons tied to a cruise ship ornament with the date of our cruise.

We were going to wait until Easter, but we want to share this with them :) They are 6, 10, 11 & this our first family cruise. I can't wait to tell them!!!

My 6 yr old talks about 'some day' going on the Dream & watches the commercials online at least weekly. She will not believe it is really happening.:yay:

We thought about a last minute surprise, but we surprised her at the airport with a Halloween trip to Disney & she was nervous/confused. She's not the kind of kid who likes surprises.

Such a cute idea!! I saw the character phone call option on the reservation email that I got...my dd is too young to get it- but we took her to WDW in October and she had so much fun! She was an unsteady walker then so it was more challenging but she is running now so I think she will really like the cruise- more her speed!
I cant wait to hear how your surprise turns out!

I'll be on this cruise solo - my second time doing so. I take a girls trip every spring, and every once in a while, the details just don't work out like they should, and I travel alone. So, here I am on another 3 night!

Will be fun to check out the Dream - we'll be on the Fantasy in June, so it will be interesting to check out the differences between the two!
