Hi Everyone. My name is Rachel and this is my first trip report!!
**warning** Let me start by saying : I am NOT a writer!! I'm sorry if my writing makes no sense to you, but I will try my best. I am a nurse, so I'm used to writing short, sweet and to the point (not in sentence form). I will attempt to remember my English lessons from 10 yrs ago, just bear with me.**warning**
I have been to Disney World approximately 8 times in the last 7 years, but i just found the dis in may, so this is my first report! Yup, I'm a newbie at this! Obviously , I'm a Disney freak! I call my husband the "in the closet Disney Freak" because he loves disney just as much as I do, he's just not as outspoken about it. I always make the plans, reservations, arrangements and he just comes along for the ride. It's okay, i like it that way. It's better if I'm in control.
Introductions: The trip consisted of me, husband, our 3 kids, and my mom.
me: I have 3 kids, work full time as an ER nurse. I enjoy long walks on the beach, romantic dinners, and am looking for ....................... whoops, forgot what site i was on
............ jk....................... i will throw in a pic though....................... this is me........
dh: He is a great guy, but type A personality, which drives me crazy at times. He went to law school (total 7yrs), but decided he didn't really want to work as a traditional attorney because he doesn't like it.
He wants to work in real estate doing title law, but they aren't too many jobs since the housing market is a wreck! But, i digress.
He loves going to disney world , but like i said won't announce it to the world.
i guess i'll do that for him!
here's a pic......( he'll love this even more! )
ds-- My 10yr old is the most laid back kid in the world. (he's like his mama!
) He's a good kid, but does like to antagonize his sister :sad2 My dh says it's a sibling thing, but i was an only child, so i don't understand it. Anyway, lets call him happy. .................
dd-- My 8yrs old has high functioning autism and disney can be overstimulating for her at times. We do use the gac card for her at disney. I'm used to getting the "look" when we use it because she doesn't appear to have any disablility. The "look" used to bother me, but i'm over it now. I don't really care what people think. I know she needs it and that's all that matters. okay , rant over. When my dd isn't overstimulated, she is a great big sweatheart. She didn't talk unitl she was almost 5 yrs old! Everytime we went to disney, we noticed she would make great advances with her communication. This is why disney is truely magical for us!
She loves her princesses, thrill rides
confused3 i know), and she loves to watch the food network. again
. we'll call her ariel (that's her favorite, she tells me everyday she wants to dye her hair red!) here's my princess.....................................(i love this pic, if you know anything about autism, you understand!
)
this is her biggest smile i've ever seen!
ds-- My 2 yr old (he'll be 3 in november and i had to get that last free trip in there!) was also dx with high functioning autism. He wasn't talking at 2 yrs old, but now with speech and occupational therapy, he is progressing wonderfully! He can be a handful at times, but has a sweet disposition.
He is shy with new people, so we'll call him bashful.
my mom: She actually wasn't planning on going with us. She went last year with me and the kids because my dh couldn't take time from work. Well, she calls me in july and asks if she can go with us. I told her she might not be able to get a room so late. I called and got a room at all star sports (tried to abbreviate, but it didn't spell anything nice!
). I gave her instructions to call daily and try to get a room at movies. Well, the 3rd day she calls, voila, a room at movies!!
Then, I called and got her added to all my dining reservations except askershus. They had us at a table for 5 and couldn't add another person. But 5 out of 6 is not bad! here's my motha (not to be confused with "the motha" from jen (goofyluver) trip report!
The Plan: We have 7 nights / 8 days free dining 9/13 through 9/20 at all star movies. We have stayed at all star movies everytime. But, this is the last time cuz the little one will be 3 next time and we'll have to move on to moderate, or deluxe. aww shucks. hmm, where will we stay next year. nope, no spoilers here!! he, he. We are driving
headache: i know), but i'm still kinda afraid to fly with my 2 little ones. I'm not sure how they would handle flying. We're stopping in savanah, georgia overnight friday to rest, then onto the motherland on saturday morning!!!
Up next: Our journey by car, an illness, and a study on the effects of 5 redbulls in 5 hours!!!
