We are considering going to a water park on our first day but would only have time to spend about 3 hours there. I know this is subjective, but do you think it's worth going for 3 hours? Thanks!

If it is included in your ticket, sure. We often will go at opening, put everything in the locker and just go from slide to slide, float in the river and are done in a few hours. I would not pay for a day ticket for just 3 hours.

Totally agree with HopperFan! IF you already have tickets or AP that allow for waterpark entry...go for it. For me, I only enjoy specific rides, so I do those and then relax on the beach. 3 hours is great for me. But...the cost of the parks is steep and definitely not worth a 3 hour stay. Have fun! :beach:

I would say yes to Mom of Jack 2009. My family and I always go to the water parks first thing in the morning and we're done by noon. By then, we've gone on our faves multiple times since the park isn't as full. By the time we hit everything we want, we sit on the sand for a while, hit the lazy river [fave], have lunch, and head home [Caribbean Beach]. This works for us....and we're not rushing.

We have never spent more than about 3 hours at the water parks. It's a good amount of time.

We can spend the whole day at a waterpark and use it as a relaxing day

But 3 hours should be enough time to do most if not all the rides, depending on the timing

When mine were tweeners, they loved BB . Family raft ride, and time in the tween area. A few of the slides, and they were done by 3 hours.

When you arrive, it will be a bit crowded (assuming you are going relatively soon), but you will see crowds diminish. I suggest saving the biggest rides for last, as lines will diminish as it grows later.

If you are talking about a winter visit, then some days can be quite chilly in WDW.

Also, in summer, storms are most common in the afternoon. One summer visit, the pool was closed every afternoon due to lightning in the area. if you only going for 3 hours, and only in the afternoon, I'd double check the weather before entering.

It will be the last week of August. Thunderstorms will definitely be a factor!

If you can be flexible about which day you go to the water parks, that will help. If not, just be aware weather may interfere.

Here's my story: One winter visit, we had a short WDW trip, and were given special passes that expired at the end of our stay. It was go or don't go. We arrived at the gate about 90 min before park close.

It was an unseasonably warm winter day, so more crowded than a normal winter day, but less crowded than a normal summer day.

We made the mistake, sorta, of hitting Crush and Gusher first. That was by far the longest line. We went on almost everything except the shark reef, the wave pool, and the storm slides (they had no line). We didn't spend a ton of time in the lazy river, but we made it part way around. We went on one of the slides twice.

My suspicion is that many folks start on the smaller slides, and work their way UP to Crush and Gusher. If you end there, the line will be short, but if you start there, you'll hit it right at rush hour.

For us, it also helped that we didn't bring (much of) anything with us, so we didn't use chairs or lockers, we just took off our shoes. We had towels in the car, but were mostly dry by the time we got there.

To echo the bazillion posters before me, yes! :) Three hours is probably about our norm anyway.
