3 Generations! 2 Resorts! 10 Days! DxDp! 3000 Pictures! - Saying Good-Bye!

Shoot. Now I want to go to Animal Kingdom on my September trip :rotfl:

Seriously. I should be banned!!

It looks like a great morning!

Listen, Girlie...I'm referring you to the thread below...I think you need to join us and perhaps need some help!:rotfl2:

Resort Changers Thread

or maybe this one....we're in the midst of moving to another location...too many pages;)

Resort Changers 2

Enjoy....I'll expect to see you over there!

Thanks for the compliments...my dad made lots of these pictures, too. He's quite the camera bug!

I would say that returning to the CBR was a smart move, you only had to run 13 miles the next day! By the way...I'm officially registered for the Princess Half!!:woohoo: Now to decide on a resort:rolleyes:...that will take months...I'll change my mind 100 times before February.

Loved your AK update too. Congrats on signing up...you will absolutely love it. Where are you thinking of staying? I think the only deluxe host resort is poly right? I loved CBR! are you going alone or with your family? Sorry if you told me this before.

We aren't sure where we want to stay...would love to do Poly again, but I'm trying to do better with money;) That weekend is Peak Season prices:headache: It looks like they offer some kind of Resort Package for participants...did y'all do that? I know it won't be a value...probably a mod, but then it could be AKL:confused3 Who knows??!! I have a friend from Orlando that's going to run with me. DH is going for moral support, but we aren't taking the kids. We won't be doing any parks...strictly the Expo on Saturday and DTD at some point. We'll go down Friday and come back Monday. The kids won't enjoy the Expo, nor do they want to get up early and watch me run:laughing: DS10 already told me that it sounds boring:laughing: By the way...I've got your thread saved...in fact, I just went back to it the other day and looked at some of the pictures...it keeps me motivated!:thumbsup2 I'll probably have 1000 questions for you by the time it gets here!

Heather

Gorgeous photos and I loved them as if I've never seen them all before:thumbsup2

Perhaps a little pixie dust will help! And if not...just avoid those eye catching rides that she can't get on....and look at it this way...there's always another trip

Thanks for the dust. And I agree, we can (and will) always go back. I think I'm just shocked because I had no doubt last year that by our next trip she would be safely over the 40-inch mark. Especially given that my friend's younger child was already there last year!! :rotfl:
We did MNSSHP, too, and loved it!!! The Headless Horseman was very cool!!!!

:woohoo: Oh yeah, wasn't it great???? Can't wait to see it again!

Ya never know....you might just like the CR...lots of perks when staying there

It is definitely high on my list now!!!!

Loving the report on AK. But I can't believe the line for KS at 9:30 in the morning!!! :scared1: hilarious in contrast to the KRR "line"! :rotfl: We have not done that one (DD wasn't tall enough), but we will be trying it in October.

Love your FOTLK pics. How cool that all your kids got to participate. :woohoo: I can't wait to see it in October. We have seen the broadway production but never the AK show, so it will be a new treat for us.

Wow! You got some amazing safari pics. Mine all look like I was bouncing around in a vehicle or trying to shoot past a small child. Oh, wait - there's a reason for that. :rotfl:

On and off the gas the entire trip….just when you’re about to snap a photo, the driver guns it

Hmm - maybe we had the same driver. But you still managed to get better pics than I did.

Can't wait to hear about Yak and Yeti. We ended up canceling our ADR there last year. :sad1:

I have started loving AK more and more each trip, especially for it's natural beauty. You are BRAVE, Kali first off!:scared1: I am a total wimp and we wear ponchos on Kali (hate those wet panties!):lmao: Lion King is my favorite show, I can't miss it!

With regards to my 'tupperware' job (I LOL'd at the fact that you WERE a tupperware sales person, honestly, nothing compares to real tupperware!) I only get abour a 10% discount in general, but when added onto a pin code or special, it makes the deal a little sweeter! Every little bit helps when you want to go as much as we do (or should I say 'I do':rolleyes1, my DH likes Disney, not a crazy fanatic like me, but thankfully he really likes me and making me happy!!!)

Wonderful pictures of AK, I cracked up at the description of the safari driver!:rotfl2:

So it's not just my family....Kali River Rapids is NEVER crowded!

Not sure about the rest of the day, but you can always get on first thing in the morning:laughing:

:woohoo: Oh yeah, wasn't it great???? Can't wait to see it again!

I'm gonna miss the Halloween parade this year....:sad2:

You should try it...ya never know!!!

I'm telling ya....he was crazy!! No lie!!

Another one you should try;)

Bill really likes AK, but it's not my favorite...one day there is plenty for me. MK is the park I love. By the way, we were SOAKED on KR!!! I was cracking up...should have made a picture.

I still love my Tupperware! Actually, I need to go online and see what's new! Have you ever been to any of their conventions? DH and I went to one in Orlando years ago...lots of fun!...Tupperware University....

Wonderful pictures of AK, I cracked up at the description of the safari driver!:rotfl2:
A fool...not sure Disney was aware of his driving abilities.

Sounds like a nice start to the day at AK. And great pictures! We saw the FOTLK show for the first time on our last trip & we were blown away by it. All 3 of us loved it!

JMO, but I think it's one of the better shows at Disney. It really amazes me the number of cast members that it takes to make that show happen!

I was hoping to get the Yak and Yeti post done tonight but no such luck...I have a couple of TV shows that I need to catch up on:laughing:

I will be happy to answer any questions and give you as many tips and advice that I can. The weekend with just you and dh sounds great. I wanted to make it a laid back trip with my mom and then my aunt decided to come along who had never been to disney. She would have been happy to do whatever but how could I not go commando style to show her as much as I could in 4 days right.:confused3 I cant go to disney without my kids again because that just wouldnt be fair. they are begging to go back. So I am hoping that after we take our family trip in a few years I can go back for the princess again and have that relaxing wkend with my mom or maybe dh depending on how old the kids are then.

Thanks for sharing. I've stayed up WAY too late reading your TR! It's a great way to stay excited for our upcoming trip, and you've given me so many great ideas for photo ops!:woohoo:

Thanks so much for all your advice!:goodvibes So your relaxed, laid back weekend turned into a full-fledge Disney vacation:laughing: You're so right though...how could you not show your aunt the real Disney? I'm surprised you weren't exhausted for the Half:scared1: I've got to show my DH all your great photos you took on the run:thumbsup2....and if you change your mind...you're welcome to join me;)

Yak & Yeti

Day 6

After running from one side of AK to another, it was time to eat….again. In my opinion, one of AKs shortcomings is the fact that there are only 2 TS restaurants…well actually 3 if you consider The Rain Forest, but it’s not inside the park. Yak and Yeti is a must do for our family…we’ve been here several times and never had a bad meal OR bad service. We’ll see if this time holds true.

Our ressie was at 1pm, but we arrived early…had a small wait…nothing too bad. Stephen sat outside looking through his Hidden Mickey Book. Just some FYI…if you have kids that are around Stephen’s age, the search for Hidden Mickey’s is really cool. He thoroughly enjoyed looking for them…actually the entire family had a blast with this.

I’ve always found that the décor of Yak & Yeti goes along so very well with AK. Once again, Disney has done a great job with each small detail.

Once we were seated upstairs, our waitress was right on top of things. It was kinda cool being up top…not quite as loud either.

Jesse was up to his old tricks again….being a typical 4 year old that needs a nap. :sad2:

Appetizers

Since we’ve been here before, there were a couple of appetizers that we knew we had to get again! And let me go ahead and say that each of these dishes was wonderful!!!! They were all very unique, so they can’t be compared….all superb in their own way.

DSC_3913.jpg

This would be DHs favorite…he’s a big tuna fan!

Are you wondering why I have 3 pictures of 1 appetizer??!! Because this is like my all-time favorite!:thumbsup2

IMG_6155.jpg

Main Course

I think Pop had this….don’t remember what he said, but his plate was clean! …miso glazed Atlantic salmon, jasmine rice, baby bok choy and shiitake mushroom stir-fry.

IMG_6156.jpg

This was awesome!!! Mom and I both had this super tasty dish….soooo good! Chili plum sauce, coconut-ginger rice, stir fried vegetables.

DSC_3914.jpg

DH had this one…I think he said he really liked it…don’t remember. But, it was gone, too, if that is any indication. Mahi Mahi, scallops, little neck clams, mussels, shrimp, zucchini, roma tomatoes, red curry coconut broth, and jasmine rice.

DSC_3915.jpg

The children’s menu was decent…not the usual boring stuff, as my kids say. If I’m not mistaken, they allowed us to use the Dim Sum Basket as an appetizer for the kids. The burger was actually very tasty…not dried out…very juicy!

Mini Burger
Vegetable Lo Mein
Chicken Bites
Egg Roll

DSC_3916.jpg

Dessert….YUM!

Last year, I did not order dessert because I was so stuffed…but mom did…and it was delicious. So I made sure that this year, I saved room for this…..Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle. Seriously, this is to die for!! A must try!!! :woohoo:

DSC_3917.jpg

Another tasty treat!!! …. shortbread cookie crust, fresh whipped cream, raspberry sauce.

Needless to say, we have had enough lunch! And oh was it good! This is a must-do for us on each trip. Once again, the service was wonderful! Not only was our waitress attentive, but she had a cute personality that added a lot to our experience. I really liked eating upstairs, too…not quite as much hustle and bustle. We’ve yet to have a bad meal at Yak and Yeti and will certainly be back! Hopefully sooner than later!

Up next….AK afternoon, then Ohana for dinner!:dance3:

I'm glad you got to eat upstairs. I like the window seat so you can look down on all the hot and tired masses.

Was that burger extra well done? I know you mentioned it was good, but it just seems a little burnt on the outside:scratchin

Since we only go once to AK on our vacations, I booked TH because DH hasn't eaten the buffet there and DD and I thought it was fantastic this past summer. I wasn't too excited about returning to Y&Y because I thought the lunch menu seemed a little boring the last time we were there, but your review inspired me to go back:thumbsup2. I love Flame Tree, but there's nothing like a little AC when you're at the AK...

Your DD is the perfect poser in all your photos. And, I LOL'd when I saw your hand sanitizer because it seems I'm always trying to crop "goop" (as we call it) out of my restaurant photos:sad2:. You can't have too much goop, I always say...

Can't wait to hear about 'Ohana. We have it booked our first night at the Poly. The last time we were there years ago, it was starting to go down hill, so I hope you liked it so I don't have to change my ADR. But if I do, I'm OK with that, I'm not too averse to change;)

No window seat for us...wish I had thought about asking for it! Next time...because you know there will be!

:rotfl: It appears to be burnt to a crisp, but I promise it wasn't. The burgers almost looked like hand made...not frozen from a box.

To me AK always seems so hot:confused3...DH said the same thing. Last year I had the Mahi Mahi and that was really good, too. DH had the duck last year and he didn't like it...very dry.

:rotfl2: OMG! I didn't even see that!!! On top of my phone, none-the-less!

You??? Not opposed to change??! Wow! I would have never guessed that:rolleyes1

Happy Planning...because I know you are still in the process:laughing:

I have never been to the Yak N Yeti, and didn't think it would appeal to me...that is, until I saw your photos. Looks like I might have to check it out sometime.;)

I agree with you about the parades as well...Spectro is awesome. I really hope they bring it back. Soon. Like before my Oct. trip.

Y'all should try it...at least once. I could actually make a meal on some of the appetizers, and then have that fabulous dessert.

Well...ya might be out of luck with the parade:laughing: Think you're stuck with the Electrical. I still enjoyed it...just not as much;)
