3-day Wonder (3/13-16) - more info than you can possibly stand!

Thank you for sharing your experiences. The way you have described how much this trip has meant to you and your family has brought a tear to my eye. Your love for your family and your passion for Disney is clearly so important to you, and this has come across so clearly in your writing. It has been truly inspirational to read. Thank you.

What an awesome review! I can see some similarities between you and your wife and me and mine (you and I get a little more emotional and like different foods). We hope to go on our first cruise (and my first experience with Disney) this September. This review gave us a lot of good information! From one southern gentleman to another, Much Obliged!:thumbsup2

Give in to your feelings, Opie Juan. ;) And like yourself, I am American by birth, Southern by the grace of God!

Dreamfinder2: What a great trip report and I too am a fellow Delta Gamma.

Dreamfinder2-
thank you for posting a wonderful trip report! My DH and I loved reading it and enjoyed the pictures of your beautiful family very much. We sailed on the Wonder last April on a 3-day and will be on the Wonder for a 4-day next month. We are also DVC members (since 1992).
I know that you are very proud of your son, and we wish him all the best and thank him and you for your service to our country.

Thanks, TAKitty. Amy would be pleased to meet you! We're Mississippians, so as a DG you know what that means! ;)

So here I am on a dreary Sunday evening in Michigan. Kind of wandering the DIS boards (as I am want to do) and I find a link from Dreamfinder2 to click here for some pics of the Wonder.

What do I find??? An eloquent trip report written by a fellow Disney fan who 'gets it'. :wizard: (It didn't hurt that your wife spells Teresa the correct way ;) )

I really enjoyed every minute of the trip report and was bummed that you didn't go longer so you'd write more.

God bless and thanks for sharing!
Teresa

This is the 1st TR I read !! OMG!! You write so beautifully!! We go on our 1st DCL trip Sept 14...4 day Wonder. I hope we have the same magical time. But hey,,Disney hasn't failed me yet!!

Hey Tony
GREAT trip report! I had alot of pages to catch up on from the last time I "talked" to you. Yes, we're back at home, first day back at work...eating my lunch and finished reading your TR. SOrry, but it depressed me...I wanna to back there. We too are planning a western in a couple of years when DS is 4 yrs old...however, we said that last year and went this year.
I don't think we'll ever do a 3 day again...it was WAY too short. At least we can say we were on the Wonder. Again, thanks for the great report (ha ha, it was like we were there!!!) and thanks for the pictures you sent us. Printed them at Walmart over the weekend....305 pictures from our holidays!
I know as a father, you probably prefer your Amy with her natural blonde, but I thought she looked GREAT, BEAUTIFUL, STUNNING as a brunette!
Well, maybe we'll see you on the Magic (or new ship) in a couple years!!!!
s.

I just finished reading every page and every reply and I'm choked up. I loved the report.
As you mentioned, I too consider it an honor that I've been able to go to WDW as many times as I have. I swear, every time I walk into the Magic Kingdom tears stream out of my eyes. I have to stand at the end of Main Street and wait until I catch my breath.
I've been considering doing a Disney Cruise and I've been trying to decide if that's something I want to do as the price is about three times more then a regular cruise.
You may have made up my mind for me. Great report, great pictures and if you'll allow me, yes "the dream is still alive."

just read every page - what a great tr!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your beautiful family (trip and pics!) with us!

Like the pp, I am in the *considering a disney cruise* stage, and you've helped sway me to go ahead and just book... How could I possibly be disappointed?

Glad you had a wonderful time, and thank you to you and your ds for your service to our country!!!

Teresa asked me the other day, "Think we should consider another cruise line, just to be open?"

It seems like cheating on a loved one, but I guess I should consider all possibilities, huh?

I can't believe I just wrote that. :scared1:

I know since I started this thread there were several who posted here that had upcoming cruises planned.

I/we would love to hear from y'all. Piggyback on this thread, or start one of your own, OK?

I'm having to live vicariously through other folks these days. Bummer.

[QUOTE We are a middle-class family, of modest means. Early on in our marriage, we decided that we would put a high premium on “family time.” This included vacationing, and in order to keep it the priority that it should be, we have been content to be more frugal in other areas – housing, automobiles, and so forth.

I love Disney. Some people would call it an obsession. Disboard people understand. We bought into the Disney Vacation Club some years back, and that purchase has allowed us to stay places and do things that I don’t think we would do otherwise. To go to Walt Disney World – that bright, scrubbed morning place where dreams are commonplace yet no less wonderful – is a respite for me from the cares of the world.

I am aware that Disney, Inc., is a gigantic, foreboding, corporate colossus. I know that they are in business to improve their bottom line, and I am fine with that. Capitalism rocks. But in providing to me, as a guest, the finest of commodities at an admittedly premium price, they have, in the same fell swoop, given me something that money can’t buy.

I pause sometimes in the middle of Main Street, USA, and watch the people around me. This place – as familiar to me as anywhere we’ve ever lived – is a place I never take for granted. Even though we visit Disney once or twice a year, I’m aware that I am surrounded by people who have saved for years and years to experience the vacation of a lifetime, and I want their experience to be just as soul-satisfying as it has been for me over the years. QUOTE]

Okay tears of joy I cry!!! I could swear that you were talking about me in this last part. I always think (At Disneyland) because we go so often, that some, really do save their entire lives for that one trip. Modest people too, are we, but Passholders and love to go for FAMILY TIME. Disney really is a part of my life too, and it is so great to read about a fellow Disneyaholic! Yes, some may think we are crazy, but they just dont get it. I purchase my cars on the thought of, "how comfortable will this be to drive to California." And sadly, yes I am saying this, no more kids for me, It would make us have to get TWO rooms.:scared1: :rotfl2:
No really, your TR was amazing. Never too much info. Thanks for sharing.

You folks sure are gracious. I knew that here, of all places, I'd find others who "get it."

I made me cry, too. Pathetic.

Hey Dreamer! Just tonight we decided to add the Disney Cruise to our Disney plans. After researching the cruise, yours was the first trip report I read, to get a sneak peak at 4 day cruise we are planning. Surf and Turf.

Boy, was I lucky! What a wonderful introduction for a newbie! The humor (slap yo' mama) beautiful pictures, and tender words spoke to my mickey head shaped heart. :earsboy: Thank you so much for sharing your family and experiences.

Hi Dreamfinder2
I am new to the Dis boards, so excuse my newbie questions. What else besides soda is free in the dining rooms or in the drink station? My son does not drink soda nor do I. Do they have seltzer water? Did your cruise have a
seafood buffet? Thanks for sharing, I loved your report. Trying to swing a cruise for next year. I also get it. My friends think I am obsessed. Mabe they are right but I feel at home when I walk along Main Strret.

They don't have anything but regular water at the drink station. In the dining rooms, you can get sparkling water (I think it's San Pellegrino if I remember correctly) but it does have a charge. I believe it was $3 for a large bottle.

Mozart's right. In the dining rooms, they do have bottled still and sparkling water, and you can get juices, milk, tea, coffee, etc. At the drink station, I'm a little vague (we're unrepentant Cokeaholics at our house, although I've been restricted to no caffeine ... they have the proper poisons for me.) There's hot tea available at the Deck 9 station, I know. Maybe milk.

On the three day on the Wonder, they do have some seafood in both Parrot Cay and at Beach Blanket Buffet when you first board. On longer cruises, when the lunch buffets have themed offerings, I think seafood is featured once. The Palo brunch has seafood. And seafood is readily available in all the dining rooms, and since you can have as many entrees, apps, etc., as you want, you can pretend like you're at a buffet! :thumbsup2

As an aside, I've been thinking about the three day vs. four day schema. Here's my call ... if you've never been to WDW, then I'd do 4 land/3 sea days. You just can't do WDW justice in 3 days ... one of the parks is gonna be truncated. But if you've been before, or know you'll be returning to WDW in the next couple of years, then I'd do 3 land/4 sea. That sea day sure is nice just to kick back and enjoy the ship.

Again ... three days on board the Wonder is better than three days on land most anywhere. Go with what time, budget, etc., allows.

Disney Dutchie, I spent a week in NYC after 9/11 working with my denomination's disaster relief team who did feeding and doing apartment cleanup, and at the landfill on Staten Island. My love for all of y'all knows no bounds.

One question I have:
Did you see any singles on board? Was it just families?

Thanks,
