3-day Wonder (3/13-16) - more info than you can possibly stand!

Please extend my thanks to the hero who is your brave son, Jeremy. I am in awe of every military man and woman, and grateful for all of their sacrifices. May God bless every one of them and their families.

And thank you, again, for being so generous in sharing your trip report with all of us! It's a great read, and the photos are wonderful. Your DD is gorgeous - brown hair and all. I've got a 24yo son who loves Disney too... ;)

Believe me, this wasn't wasted on me! Amy is currently "called for," although that is subject to change. I actually like this guy. She dated her high school sweetie for about four years - he ended up a Marine, too, and served with honor. They mutually parted company a year ago, and it was a genial parting. They're still friends - cool when you can pull that off.

I promise I'll wrap this thing up soon.

Dreamfinder, huh?

Just curious...that name doesn't have anything to do with a once great ride over in EPCOT, does it?

I loved the original version of that ride.

Enjoyed the report so far. Looking forward to hearing your final thoughts.

Great report, Dreamfinder!

We did so many things at the same time, funny we never met. And our staterooms were even very close!

A couple of pictures from the same cruise:

Wasn't the water beautiful and the weather just perfect?

heading back to PC te last night, moving along at a good clip. Notice hair flying all around? It sure was breesy!

Ahh, this is the Life!

Oh, it can't be over already?!?! I have had a great time enjoying your trip.

I've enjoyed every minute spent reading your trip report. I can't wait for your final thoughts. Great job, thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for sharing such a wonderful report!! April 3 is fast approaching for us, and we can't wait for our three nights aboard the Wonder!! :sail:

Hmmmm .. do I see a get together in the future?? :woohoo:

Welllllllll Dreamfinder2, you'll just have to let me know if the guy doesn't work out for your daughter. ;) My DS is a good catch... very handsome, currently in law school, loves all things Disney (even did Disney's College Program) and is also a private pilot. :thumbsup2

I'm loving your TR. You are a great writer and I've enjoyed each installment thus far. I do have a question either for you or anyone else reading your TR. I noticed the wagon in your beach photo. At first I questioned if someone brought a wagon with them but then I noticed another in the distance. Is this a wagon that we can rent on Castaway Cay? I'm going on the Disney Wonder in about a month and we could really use the wagon to cart around our stuff and little girls.

I noticed those wagons, too, and I think I remember seeing several of them soon after getting off the ship along with sand wheelchairs. I don't know if they're rental of if they're just "loaners," but that would be a great way to haul kids and all their beach goodies.

I don't read many trip reports but I'm so glad I read this one. I'm a southerner as well, just east of ya. You have quite a writing style, I'm late leaving for work because I had to read it all. If you aren't a writer what a loss for the rest of us. I'm a photographer and can't write a lick, but I sure appreciate those that can. I've been on mission trips the last two summers with my church working on Katrina damaged homes in Pearlington. So many folks think of New Orleans when Katrina is spoken of, but Mississippi took the brunt of the storm. My wife and daughter are doing the 3 day cruise in three weeks and we too just made the decision a month out. This will be their first cruise and I'm trying to do some research for them and your trip report is an excellent resource. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your gift of writing..

Here's some catch-all impressions that don't really fit anywhere:

- We got a good deal on a Fossil watch for Teresa on board the Wonder, and I got a nice polo shirt with the DCL logo. It's nice to be able to utter "good deal" in the same breath as "Disney."

- Was a three-day long enough? I did miss that sea day, candidly. But three days on the Disney Wonder beats the heck out of three days in Jackson, Mississippi ... or anywhere on land, for that matter. Think of it as a long weekend, and remember that for port experiences, you're getting just as much as 4-day cruisers.

- An inside cabin was just not that much of a hardship, at least for three days. The three of us did fine, and didn't feel cramped. I did miss natural light. Oddly enough, the single bathroom worked as well as the split plan, and that was a concern going in. One person could be in the bathroom while someone else did hair/makeup at the desk/vanity. Once you're out of the stateroom, all cruisers are created equal (except, perhaps, for those who are in the highest level suites and have concierge services.)

- The food, overall, was quite good. It was much better than I recalled from our Magic cruise, years ago. Just realize that, apart from Palo, your particular dish won't get the same TLC as it might in a fine restaurant on land. But for folks who say the food was "awful" - respectfully, but, dude . Maybe it's because I'm just as comfortable with Waffle House as I am Emeril. I'll grant, too, that the servers can elevate a good enough meal experience to something really special.

- Regrets about Palo? I don't know. For Amy, especially, I wanted her to experience all three dining rooms. But ... if I had it to do over again, I think I would have had lunch in Parrot Cay one day and do Palo for dinner on that rotation. Palo is something special ... I'm still remembering a sublime portabello mushroom appetizer, melt-in-your-mouth rack of lamb, and the souflee, which might be the definitive dessert.

- I wish smoking was restricted to outside areas. I would've loved to have hung out in the Cadillac Lounge some, just to chill with a solo pianist, but my one foray in there was like sucking on the tailpipe of a Greyhound bus.

- The public restrooms were great. I may be venturing into TMI here, but the girls preferred that I leave our stateroom on occasion. :confused3 Those restrooms were impeccable. That whole ship is scrubbed down more frequently than a newborn kitten.

- We didn't run into a single unpleasant guest. Not ONE. I've been witness to some unpleasant "vacationer's tantrums" at WDW more times than I care to remember.

- This is obviously out of Disney's control, but the weather was perfect. Perfect.

- When you visit Nassau, remember - there's more to see than Bay Street. You can get a lot done in half-a-day there. For me, the stuff that's been there since the 1700's is more appealing than any glitzy resort (not that I'm not immune to the charms of a glitzy resort, mind you.) It is touristy ... what did you expect? ;)

I'll be happy to answer questions, hear comments, tolerate snide remarks, etc.

I've got one or two more thoughts. They'll have to wait.

Dont stay gone too long, we cant wait to hear your final thoughts.:goodvibes

This has been the most enjoyable trip report!

Ah - this is one for the BEST TIPS thread -- and one I need to remember for our trip next week -- the boys and I will appreciate if DH makes use of the public restrooms on occasion :rotfl2:

Thanks again for your detailed report and photos! We are so excited about our upcoming trip and having your trip report to read this week has made this last week of school and work much more bearable!

Excellent trip report, Dreamfinder, simply excellent.

As to the Cadillac Lounge/Sessions, it is DW's and my favorite place on the ship - there is something about listening to the pianist (especially Daryl Lockhart) while the ocean (and world) sails by. The smoke levels vary greatly and should not be a deterrent. We have found that going right before second seating dining is best, almost no one in there and hardly any smoke. After both early and late dining is over and that area of the ship is more populated, it can get a tad smokey, but sitting closer to the piano and farther from the actual bar helps a lot.

It is also refreshing to know that I'm not the only grown man out there who likes to hear that whistle and gets chills when I first step foot on that ship when our names are announced - even after 9 DCL cruises. The wife says those qualities are exactly why she married me. (She's probably just trying to be nice!)

Great report.

What a beautiful family! Amazing pictures.

I confess, the pic of your son choked me up. ((hugs))

My husband is freshly retired from the US Air Force after 21 years.

Thank you

I got a cute PM this morning (I'm outing you - you know who you are!!)

So, here's the whole Dreamfinder2 clan, near Missoula, Montana. The older Jeremy gets, the more he looks like Tom Hanks (and the more I look like Elmer Fudd):

And here's Amy, the way she's "supposed" to look with blonde hair. This was at Hyman's Seafood in Charleston, and that's one seafood combination plate in front of her ... we stayed at the DVC Hilton Head Resort over Thanksgiving last year an had a blast. If you're in Charleston, put this place on your must-do list:

I'm gonna finish this epistle today or bust a gut trying.

Of COURSE it does. The suits really messed up a great ride with its re-inventions. I miss Horizons, too. We old folks are set in our ways.

Wonderful story! I loved the pictures too! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for taking the time to put this trip report together for us. It was a real treat to read! :goodvibes

This is honestly one of the bext trip reports I have ever read. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
