3 Boys and 20 Hours in a Minivan,I Must Really Love this Place!*New4/22 TR LINK

Every time we take a big family vacation, we do a “10 Days to Vacation Celebration.” For 10 days before we leave, we do something special to get us excited for our trip. (not that we really need help getting excited!) I try to make the events related in some way to the trip’s itinerary. Since we are doing a cruise AND Disney this year, it was a little harder, but here are the celebrations we will be doing. Jeff and I worked on these together, so I can’t take all the credit!

Day 10—Saturday March 23rd:
Take Me Out to the Ballgame! Since we will be going to a baseball game, we thought this would be fun! We will also use this celebration to let Jonah in on the secret….he doesn’t know yet that we got tickets for the game. We will have hot dogs and baseball fare for dinner as well as do some baseball-related activities.

Day 9—Sunday March 24th: Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast! ::MickeyMo

Day 8—Monday March 25th: Watch Wreck-It Ralph and have arcade snacks. Jonah is the only one in the family who has seen this movie.

Day 7—Tuesday March 26th: Germany Day! A tribute to one of our favorite World Showcase Countries! I will make some Potato and Leek Soup, schnitzel, and Black Forest cake. I may also try to find a German game or craft to do.

Day 6—Wednesday March 27th:
Pirate Night! pirate: In honor of the Bahamas long tradition and history of buccaneering! Not sure what we’ll do yet…this one is still in the planning stages. Ideas?

Day 5—Thursday March 28th: Mexico Day! A tribute to another World Showcase country. We’ll have Churros and a Mexican dish still to be decided! We may even do a piñata!

Day 4—Friday March 29th: This is Good Friday and we will be traveling to my parents’ for the Easter holiday. I am going to make Perry the Platypus cupcakes for all the kids and take them along!

Day 3—Saturday March 30th:
Bon Voyage Night! I will make fruity blended drinks for everyone with cute umbrellas! We will also have “poppers” for all the kids that shoot confetti….a “sail-away” celebration of our very own!

Day 2—Sunday March 31st: This is Easter Sunday. The boys will have lots of trip goodies in their baskets.

Day 1—Monday April 1st: We will play Disney Scene-It and order pizza . This is a pre-vacation tradition!

Tuesday April 2nd: We leave (hopefully) by 6:00 am to begin our adventure!

Can’t wait to get started! :hyper: :hyper:

I am loving the 10 days of celebration and wishing I could steal it. Reality for us is that the last week before vacation usually gets crazy with DH and I trying to wrap things up at work so we can be out for 2 weeks:(

Maybe I will do something similiar only make it day 20-10 and leave the last ten days open for the inevitable firedrills.:rotfl::rotfl:

how fun!
we've never done anything to prepare for a Disney trip. We moved and visited family in the days leading up to our last one. The one before that DH was finishing up his bachelors. For our honeymoon, we of course had a wedding!

It would be fun to start doing something!

Being away for the weekend before we leave definitely makes it tougher. I love planning these nights as much as the family enjoys participating! Thankfully, only Jeff has to worry about wrapping up work stuff...I clean houses so no stuff to wrap up!

Your little one would love it...maybe not as much now, but once he gets older! :thumbsup2

I love the 10 days to vacation celebrations! What a neat idea! I've heard of movie nights and counting down the weeks to vacation but not a whole ten days of counting down. I may just have to steal that idea! Well, not steal but borrow.

That sounds like a plan that might work for me also. It seems like the final week is always so hectic. :scared:
Oh, who am I kidding? I'd never be awesome enough to manage ten days of celebrations. :headache:

Can't wait to hear about all your events! And have a wonderful Easter visit with your family!!

I'll be sure to post pictures! ;)

Looking forward to seeing my family. Both of my brothers and their families will be there as well. Should be a good time! :thumbsup2

Your 10 day celebration sounds fun! I could probably handle something like that if I kept some of the days simple with things like Mickey pancakes. I'll have to think about something fun like that!

Yeah...I have to keep a few of them simple in order to manage it. But the boys love it! :goodvibes

Your "10 Days to Vacation Celebration" sound fantastic! Be sure to take pictures! :)

Where will I be two weeks from today?? ON THE ROAD and headed to sunny Florida! :drive: :beach:

That deserves a TWO WEEK dance!

:tigger: :mickeyjum :simba: :stitch: :donald: :goofy: :dumbo:

It's been a little crazy around here.....that would explain the lack of updating. :rolleyes2 With only 2 weeks to go, it is truly crunch time. I am crossing off to-do list items like crazy.

I promise a full update tomorrow...with touring plans for the last 2 parks and a check on the to do list as well as some random planning tidbits. Ok.....that may take 2 updates. :upsidedow

YAY for 2 weeks!!! Can you believe how close our trips are?! I am so excited!:banana::banana:

Congrats on hitting the 2 week mark. The next two weeks will fly by and you will be on the road before you know it:)

Two weeks until you get to introduce your boys to the world of cruising! And spend family time in Walt Disney World! :cool1:
