3/5/09 - March 5, 2009 - 3 night Wonder--anyone?

Hey Dawn, I checked this morning and my room assignment was not there but checked again and :cool1: Yes my room assignment was there cat 11 kind of like I expected room 6549 which I am pretty happy with. Close to elevator but not too close. Let me know if you got it. I am sooooo excited. :cheer2:

Good luck!

Looks like we're going to be neighbors. We're in 6581. Pouting here cuz I was really hoping for a MacDaddy upgrade.:lmao: I guess Cat 12 to Cat 11 will have to do. Truthfully, I'm so grateful to even be going.

I called DCL about changing the name, 35.00 until 14 days out then 85.00 so no big deal. Actually, I am pretty sure that my husband is still coming with us. He asked his boss if he should stay back and let us go without him and his boss said no. I just hope that he doesn't have the phone stuck to his ear the entire trip. :mic: I know the man loves to work but come on now. :confused3 16 days and counting.

We are staying at the country inn & suites in port canaveral booked through priceline about 69.00 including taxes and fees. I know that I already posted this but I saw that BudgetBuster was interested. (Just in case you didn't see it earlier.)

By the way purchased my over the door shoe holder yesterday at target 7.99. Cheapest I have found. Thanks

I haven't posted lately because we were out of town and I was trying to control myself. :rotfl2:

I was wonderin' where everyone was, but I too have been ridiculously busy.

I have started packing...in fact I'm mostly done with me and the kids. Hubby hasn't started yet, but he assures me he will start soon. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

We're staying at the Radisson...free shuttle over at 10am.

6055 stateroom for me. Around the corner from the other Cat 11s. I was honestly ok with the mini upgrade because it's got me on Deck 6 and I LIKE IT THERE! :thumbsup2

SO...we're good for 3pm in the Promenade Lounge, yes???

Oh...and my kids don't know yet either...we're not telling them until we hit Cape Canaveral at which point they'll likely figure it out. They just know we're doing something 'special'.

OK so I put together a 'chart' of our little 'family'...If you want to fill in the blanks (where they are blank) or be more specific (i.e. names instead of DS/DD), feel free to respond and I'll add the info. :)

No, he came with us on our trip last October, and I just can't justify taking him out of school again. We're staying in a treehouse in August, and that seems to make him OK with it.

4 For Disney~

Did you do the Name Your Own Price on priceline for your Country Inn Room? That sounds like an awesome rate. Everything else in that Port Canaveral area looks over $100.

Dawn, can I ask what a good price for the Radisson would be? It appears you have to book a special Cruise ship price in order to park.???
I can't believe you packed already?

Sounds like perhaps we need to bring our own bandanas due to cut backs on pirate night so adding that to the list along with the shoe holder and collapsible hamper. Crud, I went to Target yesterday and forgot to check for those.

Travel docs arrived yesterday!!

Love the chart!!! DH is Robert, DS (12) is Robert and DD(6) is Annsley

Oh..and only write our cabin number in light pencil cuz I'm still pretty certain that MacDaddy upgrade is still in the works:lmao:

Kelly

Yes, I used name your own price. I bid 55.00, you might be able to bid 50.00 and work your way up each day because I got it on the first bid. I chose Port Canaveral area only and 2.5 and 3 star. If you are going to do this I would check the regular websites for the radisson and country inn and suites to make sure they still have rooms with two beds. More than likely one of these will be the property that you receive. After you book with priceline call the hotel right away and ask for two beds. I figured even if I got a hotel with one bed I could always do it again and get a second room. 2 rooms would only cost 136.00 including taxes, which is probably close to the price you would pay at another hotel.

I can't guarentee what hotel you will get but I have used priceline many times and think it is worth the risk.

Let me know if you have any questions. 15 Days :thumbsup2

Thanks Stacy!

We got into Country Inn also. WooHoo! I used Priceline's NYOP and was rejected with my $50.00 bid but they "allowed" me to up my bid  by $14 and that was a go. Glad to have that behind me!

Now to catch up with Dawn and start packing!

Gotcha...yeah, I feel kind of weird taking the kids out for two days, but it's kindergarten for pete's sake! They're only there for 2 1/2 hours so it's not like they're missing a TON! It was so much easier before they started school. :lmao:

We are Deidra, husband Kent, Megan & Andrew. Room 7064

GREAT! I've updated the chart (below)

Radisson...I think we paid just over $100 if memory serves, but it typically includes free breakfast the next morning and the shuttle over to the port. They do have a rate that allows you to part. It's cheaper than parking in the lot by the port.

Bandanas--REALLY...where did you see/hear that? We have them and I told Kyle not to pack them...guess we should?!

NEW CHART below.

Room... :) GOOD LUCK with that. I wouldn't hold my breath though. ;)

Oh, and I'm in a stall for packing. Don't really have that much to do, but just haven't had a chance to do any more. This weekend, I'll likely finish it up.

Current chart...

Budget buster- I am sure that you already did this but I just wanted to make sure that you called the hotel directly and "reserved" two beds if you need them. Also, I think that there is a shuttle that you can sign up for I am thinking that it was around $6 per person round trip but don't quote me on that. I think that they have free hot breakfast in the mornings also. We will be getting to the hotel just after supper and am sure that we will be going to the pool if the weather permits.

Dawn, what in the world have you been doing with all of your free time while I wasn't annoying you with crazy questions for five days. :rotfl2:

Crud, I guess since I don't have a high post count, I can't link to the thread about the bandanas. I have been reading trip reports though that claim the economy is taking it's toll. If you search bandanas pirate night, the posts will show up.

Cut backs...Bandanas being one of them and the elimination of live music and live performers. In lieu of those, they have added more movies including the 3-D ones.

I need to stop reading these negative trip reports.:sad1: With this being our first cruise, I don't need to hear what they're not doing. I'll be thrilled with it. Period.

After all is said and done though, I'll be interested in hearing Dawn's perspective since she's our veteran cruiser.

Stacy, we'll be crawling into our Country Inn and Suites room late late late on Wednesday night so don't be looking for us. Thanks for the tip on calling the hotel and getting two beds. It's on my list for today's fun.

Two weeks from today!! That calls for another banana dance if you ask me!

Free time? I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what exactly that is. :rotfl2:

And there's NEVER a problem with any questions you may have. :)

I'll take a look in a little bit. Hubby went out tonight so I have just a few minutes before the kids start calling, "MMMOOOOMMM" :lmao:

I'll go look for the thread on the bandana thing. Don't fret about what they 'won't' have...TRUST ME...you'll never be able to do everything even if there were 60 hours in a day. It'll still be a blast. Make sure you are there for the sail away party. It is a lot of fun!

I had to go through Google to find this thread - I figured that somebody else had to be on this cruise! :)

We're Kelly (40), DH Patrick (44) and DS Cameron (3 1/2). This is our first Disney cruise and Cameron's first cruise and and his first trip to Disney. We are so excited. DS keeps asking when we're leaving for the airport. LOL

I'm really looking forward to this trip!

Hi Kelly!
Welcome to this cozy group! We are also first time cruisers but Dawn is showing us the way. Sounds like you made the dreaded error of telling Cameron about the trip. My two still don't know. You'd think they'd be suspicious of the Halloween costume paraphernalia (pirate stuff) but they obviously think it's typical clutter that resides here permanently. Looking forward to seeing you on the boat in 12 days!!!:yay:

Kelly

Hi new Kelly! I am glad that you found us, our link is still not working. :confused3 My kids ask me every day "How many more days until we leave?" I finally made them those paper chains that you take one off each day. I don't think that it helped, they still keep asking. Are you flying in the day before the cruise or the day of?

I am finishing up my classes and will be done on wednesday. After a GIANT margarita I will have to really get after my vacation items like call and confirm all of our reservations, continue packing, and take my fear of flying class online.

By the way 12 more days!!!!!!!!!
