3/5/09 - March 5, 2009 - 3 night Wonder--anyone?

See now, even though it's 'technically' 12 days, I'm counting is as 11 since we're going down the day before. It counts, DANGIT. Secret still in tact over here although it's getting harder to keep it from them. You just want to scream it to the world!

Dawn

We're going to DW for 4 days before, so we leave in exactly 1 week......next Sunday at this time, we'll be boarding our plane.:banana:

Made our dollar store trip...got bubbles for the sail-away party and other little odds and ends. Starting to make a pile of things to pack. Can't wait!!!!!!

Hey Dawn, we have been counting down the days till the day we leave for the airport also. Because that is when our vacation starts. So let me be the first today to say 10 MORE DAYS!!!!!:thumbsup2
How are you packing without the kids knowing that you are going on a disney cruise? Haven't they seen the over the door shoe organizer? Or are you hiding your luggage somewhere?:confused3 I do wish that I hadn't told the kids that we were going, but too late now.

Luggage is in plain sight in our guest room. But honestly we go away a lot so that's probably why they're not overly suspicious. Of course, if they see me put the beach stuff in, I'm probably sunk. :) They are enjoying the countdown. We have a calendar where we're marking off the days to the 'special trip'. At this point, we're probably about 98% done packing. Just some minor stuff at this point. We did have to upgrade from one big suitcase though. We were dangerously close to the 50 pounds and since we weren't done, we went to a big suitcase and a suit bag.

Single digits starting tomorrow (for me anyway). :) :dance3:

Another quick question Dawn. Since we are driving and poundage won't be an issue, would you suggest we attempt to use our MacDaddy largest suitcase? Trying to imagine the small cabins and wonder if that would be the best plan or 4 smaller ones? Oh my....all the decisions. sigh. :)

I'm seriously getting jazzed now!:banana:

Kelly

Even if you are driving, I would be mindful of the 50 pounds. Luggage porters will still have to lift the bags. You can usually store the suitcase in the closet or under the bed (although you may need to lift the bed (it isn't heavy) to get it under.)

I'd also recommend a small empty bag too. You usually leave with more than you came with (although they do have some nice ones on board).

Only 8 more days till we fly to orlando:banana: Well, I only have one final left and then I can start my trip items. To a certain degree I am happy that I am in school and have been very busy the last three months. The time flew by! But something tells me the next eight days will feel like a lifetime. :eek:

Dawn, do you always go to Palo when you cruise? At first I thought that I wouldn't need to because the ships food was probably great already. Then I decided I wanted to make a reservation and there were no reservations available. Is it possible to get a reservation at Palo still? If so when and where do I go to make the reservation? I may just be out of luck and I can deal with that. :sad2:

Also, does anyone know if they have a wine, beer or martini tasting on the 3 day cruise and if so what do you need to do to sign up. As you can tell I just need a drink!!!:rotfl2:

On the four night, we did dinner. On the seven night we did dinner, brunch AND I also did tea time. Whether or not to go is tough because the food in the restaurants IS good. It's just that the food at Palo is REALLY good. If you get on the ship early enough, you should be able to get a reservation. You would go on Deck 3 toward the back and there are folks back there for Palo, spa, etc. The next challenge is when. The second day is pirate day so I wouldn't go then. You also want to try to avoid going on the night you're in Animator's Palate. It is a good show. You'll know your rotation when u get your KTTW card. There is a charge and u tip on top of the charge, but it is worth it.

They had beer tasting on the 4 night -- don't know about the 3 because there is no sea day

Finally--if you are even remotely thinking about rebooking--do it while onboard. There is usually a 10% discount and a shipboard credit involved.

See ya

Vicki--I think you're heading down first. Safe travels!

We are getting so close!!

If anyone as ts to meet prior to our 3pm promenade meet, we will be at the port around 10:30. Send me a PM and I'll give u my cell #. I anticipate getting a decent boarding # and being on the ship by noon!

Well, I think that things are getting in order around here. I am finished with finals. :cool1: My husband thinks that our bedroom needs to be painted this weekend because we are getting new carpet when we get back. I guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow. (Not in my plans) :mad: I will do it anyway because it is his birthday this weekend and he shouldn't have to paint on his birthday. I still haven't finished my packing because I need to do the laundry and I still have a few days left, 6 to be exact but whose counting:rotfl2:

We will also be arriving at the port around 10:30 so we may see you there.
I have read some reviews from people who arrived before the parking lot was open, will we have this problem at 10:30?

I better squeeze in some time for my fear of flying class. :scared1: If I don't there is always zanax. (May have to do both)

Congrats on finishing finals...It's been a while, but Lord knows I've been there!

I think you'll be fine arriving at that time at the parking lot. We've never used it so I'm not 100% certain.

I'm going to be continuing to monitor the weather. So far, it's only like mid-70s so I may be packing an extra pair of pants/sweatshirt. Of course, 74 is MUCH better than 44. :)

We're going to be wearing name shirts...mine is blue, Kyle's is red, Kendall's is lavender and Gavin's is blue...oughta make us easier to find! :)

Getting REAL REAL excited!

Dawn

Still not packed.....3 pairs of shorts thrown on top of a suitcase. I'm also afraid to fly. We leave at 6am Sunday.

I'm also disenchanted with the weather forecast.....that's probably the holdup. Hoping for better weather early in the week so I don't have to pack pants.

I thought I was packed, but now I think I am going to have to add some warmer clothes. We were hoping to get away with just carry-on bags but I don't know now. I ended up cancelling the Radisson. I got the Hyatt at the airport for $74 on Hotwire. This way we don't have to rent the car until Thurs. morning and can get the $10 a day with Alamo.

My husbands birthday is Friday the 6th. Does anyone know if I have to call in advance to get a cake for him or can I just ask the servers?

Hi Vickie, if you are very afraid to fly like I am there is a great website fearofflyinghelp.com and it has a free class online that you can take from your computer. It really does wonders. I knew that I really had a problem when I wouldn't get on a plane to go to Las Vegas with my husband last march. I was very upset and frustrated with myself. I took the class and in October I flew by myself to texas to go on a girls trip.

ps there is also a great spot on there where you can check the flight turbulence for the flight that you are going on. It is nice when you hit turbulence and know that there is a reason for it (not that the plane is having mechanical problems or something):worship:

I wasn't planning on packing any pants besides the one's we are going to wear on the plane but I will have to rethink that.

See you soon!

5 MORE DAYS until we fly out of here. :dance3: I know that I am exciting when I am replying to my own messages on the dis board. Well, it looks like we won't be painting this weekend after all. My son has had a dry cough for about 4 weeks now. :sick: ( I know that sounds rediculous but he was so healthy and we were going on vacation so I didn't want to take him to the doctors office and infect him with a bunch of other stuff) Broke down yesterday and took him to the doctor to make sure he didn't have pnemonia or something. Turns out he has asthma. That was a shock he is seven years old. Didn't see that coming. So they put him on a nebulizer (sp?) and he is having breathing treatments 4 times a day. So I figure we shouldn't irritate his lungs with paint fumes. I am sure that this was probably set off by the fact that we have been doing extensive renovations on our home.

Is there anyone as excited as I am, I have so much housework that I have been putting off because I can't seem to focus on anything except VACATION:banana: I told my son this morning that he only has five more days and he freaked out. I also went to his school today to try to see if the teacher would send home some of his homework this weekend so that we can get a head start on it. I am sure my son will freak out in a totally different way when he finds out how much he has to do when he misses 5 1/2 days of school.:scared1:

I started packing my bags and I have purchased everything that I think I will need for our vacation.

We have a busy weekend planned (two birthday's) so I am sure that the time will start to fly by now. :cool1:

By the way we will be easy to spot I will be with the tall beefy freckle faced hunk. :laughing: See you soon.

There are a couple things you can do.

1) I would call DCL -- (800) 951-3532 and have them note it on your account. Probably not a bad idea to remind the server the first day too. If you're working with a travel agent, ask them to have it done.

2) You can also order a cake/banner for your stateroom. Cost is $39 and includes.... You can call Call (800) 601-8455 to order.

* 1 Complimentary Celebration Cake*
* 1 Cascade
* 1 Banner
* 1 Centerpiece
* 1 Door magnet

and yes...starting to get very excited!!! :)

When my son was younger he had the same thing happen and they said he had asthma. Once that winter was over he never had another problem. We haven't given him a breathing treatment in years. Hopefully the same thing will happen to your son.

Just out of curiosity how many days of treatments did it take before he stopped coughing? I just don't want people to think that he is contagious.

I am hoping after the weekend is over maybe his coughing will subside and he will be back to normal. We live near Kansas City and our weather varies from 32 degrees to 68 degrees depending on the day. Very unpridictible.

The travel channel is showing disney cruise line and disney world shows so I have been watching those today and can't believe we will be leaving in 5 days.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I can't wait to see all of you next week. (I love saying that) :banana: :banana: :banana:

The cough did linger for a few weeks. Don't worry about people thinking he's contagious, just have a good time. This time of year I'm sure there will be alot of kids coughing. My daughter came home from school today with 101 fever. If she still has it tomorrow I'll be taking her to the Dr. Hopefully no one else will get it.

I missed the shows on the travel channel. They won't be back on again until after we get back.

6 more days!

We leave for the airport in under 24 hours.:cool1:

Has anyone looked at the weather forecast? Hate to be the party pooper, but highs in Nassau are only around 75.:scared1:

Still not close to being packed. I think the weather uncertainty is the reason. I really didn't want to have to pack pants for anything other than dinner, but it looks like I'll be re-thinking the wardrobe.
