3/24/07 Western Magic

We'll definitely stop by at the beaches but most likely won't do any big adventures. The only thing I'd want to do is swim with the dolphins but I enjoyed that on our New Year's Eve cruise last year.

Also, I had late seating last time and it worked out wonderfully. Since I'm from California, having early seating would mean eating as early as 2 in the afternoon!

It was great not having to rush to get back on the ship on port days to shower and get ready.

Pclaire, sorry to hear about your daughter . . . to look on the bright side, at least she didn't come down with this about March 23rd, right?

Thanks for the encouragement about later dinner seating, auroo. I'm glad to hear that you won't forego the beautiful beaches on this trip. By just getting off the ship and going to a beach on your own, you give yourself and your boyfriend the freedom to enjoy the ship as much as you want on those days, too. Swimming with the dolphins is a really special experience, isn't it? I believe Pclaire and her daughter plan to do it on this cruise. My daughters and I did it at Discovery Cove last August right before our cruise, and it was an experience I will never forget.

Hey There Everyone!!

Our group will be on the 3/24/07 Magic, consisting of 2 families. This is our groups second "tour of duty" with Disney!!

dh,me,ds-13,ds-10
and
dh,dw,ds-12,dd-11

Anyone with teens? My 13-1/2 year old is looking forward to the Stack, so I hope there will be others in his age group. His friend will turn 13 4 weeks after the cruise...will he be able to get into the Stack??

We are in the cheap seats, :rotfl2:, the cat. 11 on deck 7.

We are doing the dolphins! its the one thing I've already booked (haven't paid for the actual cruise yet . . . ) Re dining, the one thing I'd like to do this cruise is maybe eat at topsiders or even room service for dinner sometimes and not feel like we have to go to the dining room every night. Just feel more free to make our own schedule. we'll see . . . . Thank goodness its friday. What a week, mono, ex-husband troubles, nanny troubles (because of ex-husband), bad rulings from federal court of appeals - I need a cruise now!

Sorry you've had such a tough week, pclaire . . . you are right about not having to go to the dining room every night. In particular, if you stay in a port a little later and don't make it to early seating, you can easily eat in your room or somewhere else.

Hi everyone!

I beleive there were 3 threads about this cruise, so I sent a PM to one of the mods and all 3 threads should merge together soon. I beleive the new thread will be called '3/24/07 Westen Magic'.

Hey everyone!

Sorry I haven't been on here for awhile..:(

Here's the ages of the kids, at time of sailing, in our group so everyone knows:

Girl: 15
Girl: 14 turning 15 on pirate night (thats me!) pirate:
Boy: 13 (yep T&Tmom, he'll be in the stack!)
Girl: 10
Boy:10

Like Bellelinus said, if anyone has any questions about anything about this cruise feel free to ask me! I was on the 3/25/2006 cruise this year, which was also a western, and had a blast!
I guess I am strange though because unlike many teens who really liked the Stack, I felt out of place and did not like it. I'm hoping this time it will be different though, because my cousins will be in it too!

Hi - hope everyone had a good weekend. not so fun at our house, dealing with my dd's mono. If you can think of a way to keep an active 8 yr old on the couch for more than an hour at a time, let me know. She's going crazy, therefore, so am I.
There have been some pretty negative reviews about the dolphin discovery in cozumel - I hope its ok, even if overpriced, cause we've both gotten really excited about it!

I'm sorry your daughter is still fighting mono . . . when my girls have been sick, I have allowed vast quantities of TV (mostly age appropriate DVDs) and since they normally are restricted, it seemed to work. However, I have never had one sick for as long as this, so you have quite a challenge.

Have you thought of posting a question on the main DCL forum (or even on cruise critic's Cozumel forum) asking if there are positive experiences with the dolphin discovery? Sometimes it seems that only the disgruntled people post about an excursion, so there might be lots of happy people out there undetected.

thats a good idea -it seems like when someone has a less than perfect experience, they have to tell everyone!

Yeah, it's much easier to find negative reviews on anything than positive ones. This is always evident on Tripadvisor -- those who loved their hotels are much less likely to post reviews than those who had a bad experience. It's hard to believe that you wouldn't enjoy your dolphin encounter, since they are such amazing creatures.

I'm booked. It's me (Grammie), my daughter and two grandsons: 1 will be almost 13 and the other almost 10. Hope some other cruisers will sign on. It's our first.

well, another week down. 3 more to go before my daughter can get back to her normal activities (contact sports!). What are your kids doing for halloween? my dd is an indian - we have a party at my office this afternoon and then one of the high schools (where she would go) does a haunted house- the kids take a bunch of classrooms and decorate them each differently - sometimes incredibly elaborate - then the little kids trick or treat. Its very fun and really a microcosm of all things high school. There is a popular girl room, decorated in pink with balloons of course, where the girls dress up like princesses so they can wear prom dresses and sit around and talk and ignore everyone else, a goth room, some really creative and/or scary themed rooms put together by obviously talented kids, some sports rooms, etc. some of the high-schoolers are really nice to the little ones, and some are just too cool to be bothered . . .

Hi everyone, :wave2:
We just got off the DVC member cruise and had a great time on the Wonder. We booked the March 24th cruise on the Magic. :woohoo: It will be DH, me, and DS 6.We will be on deck 7 and we have late seating.

For Halloween my sister and I are both being PIRATES so we can wear them on Pirate Night (my b-day!!) My sister is being the 'Arrgg Matie' type of pirate, and I'm being a pirate wench type..my goal is to look like they do on the ship! pirate:

Good for you, Minnie -- my girls and I all have pirate costumes that we wore on our last Wonder cruise and we will definitely be wearing them again on the Magic! What about anyone else -- does anyone else plan to dress for pirate night?

Welcome beaker!

Hi everyone! Just saying hello again! The real world has definitely been keeping me on my toes...the only thing keeping me sane is daydreaming about the cruise! :wizard:

Hi all! Skibum asked if I could merge all three of the threads together so I have. Hopefully this will keep you all in one place. Enjoy your cruise!
