3/24/07 Western Magic

Good for you, Minnie -- my girls and I all have pirate costumes that we wore on our last Wonder cruise and we will definitely be wearing them again on the Magic! What about anyone else -- does anyone else plan to dress for pirate night?

Welcome beaker!

We bought our Pirate attire at the Halloween sale!!!!! Nothing like planning ahead :cool1:

Did anyone else get a trip planning kit for this cruise today? I did -- there's not really that much information there, but it's exciting to get something about the cruise! It really makes it seem closer to have official information about it.

I received mine also - I did notice that the excursions in the trip planning kit did not match what is offered on-line - I am going to assume what is on-line is most current since the mailing also talks about passports still being required which we know has changed (I have aready gotten one for my daughter and renewed mine though).

I know . . . the information in the kit is really sparse, and dated. I'm sure that whatever they have online for actual booking is the real info. All complaints aside, it is fun to get a reminder that the cruise is getting closer and closer, though!

I see Mary has stopped by and merge all our threads. I hope that helps other find us. Thanks Mary.
My DS loves pirates so we are looking forward to Key West and doing Pirate Soul. We may do the scavenger hunt. If you are not interested in Key West I suggest staying on board the ship. When we did the Eastern 7 day cruise DS was 3 and at St. Thomas I stayed on the ship with him. We had a great time and part of the time we were the only ones in the pool.
Yes we are dressing up like pirates tonight and on the cruise.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I see the moderators merged our threads...thanks!! It took me awhile to find us again. What is the official thread name so i can have the proper subscribed thread in my userCP?

Anyhoo, I have a pre-tee/teen question about the Stack, and the rules between the Stack age group and the Ocean Quest age group, as the ages overlap by 2 years. I also posted this in the regular cruise forum, but wanted to talk to those travelling with a spring break crowd.

I have been mulling this issue over for many months. If anyone has done this, your advice will be most appreciated!

1. My DS will be 13-1/2 when we sail over Spring Break, '07. He is looking forward to the Stack.

2. DS has a good (and mature) friend who will be almost 13 at the time of sailing. His birthday is about 30 days after we return. Will he be able to go into the Stack with my DS? If they don't check ID's, or scan the KTTW card, can he just 'walk in', as long as he is not registered with Ocean Quest?

3. If ths Stack doesn't work out, will we be able to register the boys on-board, after sailing commences, to go into the
10-14 group?

4. Is it true that once they register in the 10-14 group, that they will not be allowed back into the Stack? Also, do they still use the wristband when registering for kids clubs? Are they removable.....because I heard that going into the Stack with a kids club wristband is considered a social 'no-no' by their peers.

5. If the Stack turns out to be much older kids (15-18-which I suspect will be the case over Spring Break) then the boys will want to drop down. Why does Disney not offer flexibility with this age group?

I didn't get the planning kit - have you guys paid in full yet? I hope to do that soon . . .

Hi pclaire -- how is your daughter? I haven't paid in full yet . . . don't intend to until right before the 90 day mark so that I can make reservations online on Dec. 24. From what I have seen on the main board, some people claim that they never get the planning kit, although I received one before my first cruise and then got this one yesterday. Same with the shoreside survival kit after a cruise -- many say they never got one, but I am happy to say that I did. Who knows what Disney is thinking?

ISCRK, I don't have the answers to your questions about the Stack and Quest, but my understanding was that those who overlap the Lab or Stack with Quest, could go to either/both at any point. Probably someone on the main board will answer with recent information.

Cruising with my daughter and two DGS 13/10. I've done a survey of this post and come up with the following list of boys about the same age: Phychodisney 13/11; Skibum 13/10; T&Tmom 14/7; ISCRK 13/10 and another 12 with the group. That's a bunch of boys. ISCRK, I've got pretty much the same list of questions about the Stack that you do. I'm sure DGS 13 will want to be with the big kids, but I'm not sure I want him hanging out with 15/17 year olds (like they would want to hang out with the 13 group). But I'm confused about how the Stack, the kids club and Oceanquest interract. I thought Oceanquest was a hangout place for the 10-14 year olds with no organized activities, but not linked with the kids clubs, which I understand are 8-12 and split up 8/9 and 10/12. So I don't think you can sign them up with a 10-14 year old club because I don't think there is one. From what I can tell from other posts on this subject, they are pretty strict with the 12 year olds getting into the Stack, but will allow just-13's to drop back into the 10-12 club if there's a friend in there. So it's a dilemma. I also would like to know if they can drop back if you haven't registered them in the 10-12 club to begin with.

DCL really needs to create an club with an age group from 12-14, but right now I don't think it exists. It's a dilemma.

Is anyone else having problems with the new search format. I have entered 3/24/07 Western Magic as key words and looked in the Cruise Meets forum, but come up with no results. I have also searched by pclaire as a user name and looked in the Cruise Meets forum, and come up with the old posts before they are merged, but not the 3/24/07. I'm afraid if no one posts for a few days, I will lose this again.

I see we have two folks here who have Colorado connections. Skibum, how much time do you spend in Vail? pclaire, where in Denver are you? My daughter (who is cruising with me) lived in Vail for 12 years ago for Vail Resorts and the company just relocated to Louisville. pclaire, are you anywhere near there?

Thanks for the 13 year old boy round-up!! Maybe we should decide as a group what we will do with the boys, and then they will at least be with other kids their age...do you think they would agree to that? I think not!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyways, I will be doing more investigating on the main boards, along with calling DCL for specifics. I will keep you posted! And, if you use the thread tools and subscribe to this thread you will easily find us again. Just go to the usercp tab at the top of the cruise line boards, click, and you will find your list of subscribed threads!!

Well, it's nice to see that there is some activity here - Finally! I hope the three merged threads are acceptable to everybody. That was really DD14's doings. She is our DCL expert, and she truly is an expert on the whole DCL thing.
We have enjoyed our DCL experiences, and are looking forward to this spring breaks cruise. Grandma and Grandpa are going with the whole family to celebrate their 50th Anniversary.
Before the cruise though, there is a whole lot of skiing to be done. Vail is home, we just live in the Chicago area. I get out to Vail 4-5-6 times a year (before kids it was once a month). Bringing a group of about 40 skiers the first week of December.
30 years ago (don't know how that can be), I used to live there - getting paid to ski. What a deal! Still ski locally 2-3 days a week at the small hills in Wisconsin to stay in shape for the mountains.
Too bad Vail Resorts moved out of the mountains!
I forgot, this is a cruise forum. Really looking forward to it! :cool1:

There is a great thread on the main board titled, "Help! Pre-teen wants to enjoy teen activities." The OP is TerryCRZ. Lots of useful and current information!! :woohoo: Those with teens in the 12-14 age group may want to subscribe!

hi everyone! Grammiemame, I'm in lakewood, which is one of the western suberbs of Denver, right by the foothills. I'm very familiar with Vail resorts through my work.

Hello again everyone! Looks like we have more that 10 people cruising now! Glad to see the activity.

GrammieMame: Thanks for the synopsis of boys cruising this week!

ISCRK: I had not really thought about the younger teens being 'mixed in' with the older teens. That could be a bit overwhelming for the younger teens. I am going to go check out that thread you mentioned. And who knows, maybe all of our boys will hang out together!

Hi everyone, My family will be sailing 3/24/07 Magic for our first cruise. Have been lurking on DIS since spring and just saw this thread.

We booked our excursion for Cozumel directly for the Royal Dophin Swim - this is reported to be better than the one offered by Disney in that you actually get to swim with the dolphins not just stand in the water with them. We will see.

Since they have merged the two threads: Anyone new going to be at the Radisson the Friday before departure? We arrive in Orlando at 12:00 noon and I hope to be poolside at the Radisson with an umbrella drink by 3:00 :beach:

Hi Everyone....I'm still here, just couldn't log into DIS for a few days. The darn laundry and cleaning fairy did not show up again, so I had to clean my own house!! :rotfl:
Anyways, for those of you with boys 10-14 years old (or even girls for that matter :cloud9: ) let us know who you are! I am making my 13-yr. old DS attend the Stack 411 session. It's on the first night, at about 10 pm. The more young-teen kids that attend, the more fun the cruise will be!! This is the best place for them to meet up.

Hi everyone. We still dont have our reservations, so not sure what time we'll get to the Raddison. Southwest still hasn't opened their bookings past March 9th, and frontier is over $500, so we'll just wait for southwest. We did go ahead and book the dolphin royal Swim in cozumel - did it directly rather than going through DCL I'm ignoring all the negative posts about the dolphin encounterd because my dd thinks its the coolest thing in the world.
