I'll be at POR in Dec., so I decided to do something different this time. And my past ASMu experience was so bad, I just couldn't seriously consider ASSp. :

Can I ask you about your bad experience at ASMu? That is where we will be staying so I am very curious. On a side note, we stayed at POFQ earlier this year and absolutely LOVED it!!! If this trip wasn't such a short, as inexpensive as possible trip we'd be there again.

Also, I see you are from Largo, I grew up in St. Pete. OT I know but just wanted to share

That's a great idea. I never thought about what women do when they go to WDW alone with kids. There should be a section on here where women can link up with another parent!

All of this to say... POFQ it is for one extra night in the World! Given that, here is my new and improved schedule of events:

9/8 check in POFQ, play in pool
Dinner at POFQ food court

Just today, I called and made reservations for Boatwrights at 5:20p. Just in case we're tired when we check in and would rather have a sit-down meal insted of going to the food court. So by chance if we do not go to Boatwrights, then perhaps I'll see you in the food court on our DAY 1!!!!

WOO-HOO! Not long to go!

Sing it with me now... It's a Small World After All... I'm originally from Buffalo, NY, but I've been in Pinellas for over 10 years now - I think that makes me an official Floridian, right?!

Okay, I'll share my ASMu expereience, but know that I've talked to many people who had delightful stays there, so it was probably bad luck for me. It started out fine - check in was easy, room was clean. We were only there our first night before heading to WL, so there weren't any Mousekeeping problems. It all came down to a lack of much-needed-first-night-sleep. I found the beds to be incredibly uncomfortable; I sleep on a faux feather bed and ASMu's mattresses were way too firm for me. Every time I did start dozing off, I was awakened by the sonic-boom like sound of toilets flushing above us, to the right, to the left, I swear we were surrounded! Assuming I could tune those out, there was no tuning out the family above us. Judging by the variety of voices, I'd say there were at least 4, all yelling, jumping on beds, watching TV and showering until 3 IN THE MORNING!!! In retrospect, I should have gotten dressed, marched up there and asked for some quiet time, but I was exhausted and not willing to risk a rumble, KWIM?

Really, nothing about my bad experience could have been prevented by WDW, and the CM's we dealt with were all very nice. It just left a bad taste in my mouth - I guess it's forever tainted for me! But, like I said, I've heard many more good things about ASMu than bad, so no worries - go and have a fabulous time!

OMG, that's so funny - as I was drifting off to sleep last night, I was thinking I should make a reservation at Boatwright's, just in case I don't want to navigate the food court with DS in tow. And I always make our ADR's around 5:30! We must be thinking in sync...

DO IT! You never know! Sometimes when I travel, I can hit the ground running. But just in case I couldn't, I wanted to KNOW that I had a table and CM waiting to take my order!
