i have also posted this on DIBB but in case anyone here can also give me any ideas??

Now Dh has suggested it, little Miss Holiday Planner here has to put her thinking cap on.

He was quite agreeable about a long weekend in New York or Boston, but as we will be going around our wedding anniversary - 27th Feb, it may be quite cold.

Don't even think about suggesting Florida - we're already budgeting for that for next November.

We don't really want to go for longer than 5 days as we're going to have to rely on GPs for childcare, and DH is keen on visiting anywhere in the states - he has been bitten by the long-distance bug.

I quite fancy ski-ing but as he is blind - that is ruled out, as is going to a dude ranch - another want from me as he hates horses - scaredy cat.

So where would you go for a shortish break - inspire me??

please??

Firstly, I nearly share your wedding anniversary - mine's 28th February.

Secondly, Paris is a very romantic place to go to - even if it's not long-haul, but if you only have 5 days, you can make the most of it.

Thirdly, I believe there's a nice park or two just outside Paris? Called something like Disneyland Paris, and Walt Disney Studios Paris?

Just my thoughts...

Sandra

Seriously, we had a really romantic week-end in Paris some years ago. There's just something in the air there!

Let us know what you decide, won't you?

I have a few ideas for romantic getaways.

I know it's in the UK, but I took a girlfriend to Stratford Upon Avon for a long weekend a few years ago. That's a great place to enjoy quiet time in, and there are some fantastic restaurants there too.

New York is a great idea. It's a favourite destination of mine and it's full or romantic ' hidden ' corners.

Niagara Falls or Toronto are great too. Duid you say your partner's blind ? Well, even though he can't see, he will totally be able to 'experience' the Falls .. they are AWESOME !

Finally, I totally recommend either Monaco ( I suggest staying at the Le Meridien ) or Nice in the South of France.

They are both great places with lots of stuff to do, great restaurants, a laid back attitude, and a string of waterfront bars to peoplewatch .. and just let the time drift by while you spent time with the one you love.

Hope those suggestions help.

:)

LOL at Stratford - Loftus - sorry:D don't mean to laugh, but live just down the road in Warwick. Agree tho it is lovely if a bit crowded with tourists.

It's got to be an english speaking country tho as Je ne parle pas francais - blah blah

Hong kong is also great, but a bit too hectic for a relaxing weekend.

Has anyone ever seen that amazing hotel in Dubai?? The one shaped like a sail - If I win the lottery i'm going there. They even have a mini sub to take you to the underwater restaurant - Kooool.

Hi Elise,

I don't if you know but me and DH had a valentines weekend in Boston this year. The weather wasn't too bad at all, yes it was cold but not as bad as I thought. I just wish I'd bought a hat to keep my ears warm.

We've also been to New York twice once at Christmas (truly magical!) and again in June. If I had my choice I'd go for either a pre Christmas break it's a lovely city to see with all the christmas lights and decorations or failing that just after Xmas when all the sales are on. You'll get some brilliant bargains.

New York wins hands down for me afraid it's one of my favorite cities of all time. If you haven't been before give it a whirl.......???

Another winner is Las Vegas so much so that we got married there - but I'm not sure I'd go for just a weekend as the flights are quite lengthy.

When we were going for Valentines I also looked into Venice but it was working out too expensive than going to Boston......

Good luck

Lisa x
