2nd cruise cancels - would I get FCC?

Hi,

I have a question about FCC.

I had a cruise paid off in Nov that was canceled. I received a FCC and moved it to a Dec 2021 cruise.

I have a second cruise booked in March 2021 that will soon be due for final payment. I fully expect this cruise to be canceled. If I were to pay this cruise in full...before they cancel it....would I earn a FCC for this cruise? Note this second cruise would be paid fully with cash and not with the first cruise FCC.

I have conflicting answers here so would love to hear what others have experienced.

Thanks!

The fine print in the email I got saying that my first cruise was cancelled included this language: Guests who previously received a FCC are not eligible for an additional FCC.

Yes you should receive the 125% FCC as these were 2 different original cruises. I had a b2b that got cancelled and got the extra credit on both. Now if one of your rebooked cruises get canceled you do not receive an additional credit on top of the already issued credit.

The real variable here is whether they cancel it before the PIF date or after. We also have a March cruise (on Wonder) almost fully paid off.

If they cancel it after the PIF date, you will probably get the normal options: 125% FCC or a full refund.

If they cancel it before the PIF date, it's really up to them how they want to handle it. You are entitled to a full refund, and that's what it might just end up being.

But, it's a fluid situation. Our December Celebrity cruise was cancelled in September, and we got the normal 125% FCC/full refund option. Cruise lines have since raised more capital and are in a better position to issue refunds. NCL, for example, is now refunding money in full plus giving a 10% discount on future cruises without any 125% FCC option.

If you paid cash, you get FCC.

If you paid in FCC, it doesn't multiply out (ie, you're not getting 125% of your 125% voucher.)

Yes, you would definitely get FCC on the March 2021. If Dec 2021 gets cancelled and you are PIF, then the next cruise you move it to will not get FCC since it already had FCC from your Nov cruise. And PIF date does not matter. As long as you have paid in full when disney cancels, you will get FCC if the cruise was booked without a previous FCC.

I currently have had 5 cancellations and 4 FCCs applied to 4 future cruises.
1. Sep 2020 cancelled, got first FCC, moved to Oct 2020;
2. Oct 2020 cancelled, moved first FCC to Oct 2021;
3. First Jan 2021 got cancelled, got 2nd FCC, moved to Apr 2021;
4. 2nd Jan cruise got cancelled, got 3rd FCC, moved to Apr 2021;
5. 3rd Jan cruise got cancelled, got 4th FCC, moved to Apr 2021 (Yes, this is a B2B2B cruise).
= 5 cancellations with 4 FCCs

I hope this helps.

If I'm not mistaken, all your cruises were cancelled inside the PIF date. It would be interesting to hear from someone who had a late February booking cancelled by Disney and what options they were offered.

As long as your cruise is Paid in Full, even if it is before Disney's PIF date, then you will get the FCC. If you have not Paid in Full when Disney cancels then you will only get a refund.

We had a last week of feb cruise. We had PIF because we wanted to sign up for activities (and I was willing to play chicken for a possible FCC). But we were told we could get the FCC or a full refund. If we had not paid in full we would have gotten a refund of what we had paid and no option for FCC according to my TA.

Very good. We just might pay off our March cruise in full now.

The only downside of a full payment is that if you want to move funds to a different booking, you have to cancel the fully paid cruise first - and potentially lose any benefits attached to it.

What benefits did you have that may be lost? Just curious.

Right now, even if you are paid in full, advance of Disney's date (60 days out [not including concierge]), you are free to move the full amount to another cruise. I checked with Disney last month on this one prior to having all of my April cruises being paid in full.

If you booked with an onboard booking discount, that will follow you to the new booking, provided it is within the valid booking window for the OBB which I think Disney has extended out to early 2022. I had an OBB that expired Fall of 2021 and Disney has honored it and extended it out to May 2022. This was one of the last OBBs that still came with $100 onboard credit which Disney is honoring on my March 2022 cruise.

If you have a benefit from a travel agent, then you'll have to check with the travel agent with what happens to that benefit.

If it is the FCC, that will also follow you to the new booking as long as it is before May 2022. My March 2022 has both my OBB and FCC and it has been through 2 cancellations and one transfer (i.e. I placed it on a dummy cruise in Oct 2021 after my first 2 cancellations so that I could wait for Disney to release their early 2022 sail dates.

I suggest doing the cancellation and the re-booking to a new cruise at the same time with the same agent. This might reduce the possibility that some benefit might get lost in the shuffle.

I am sure whatever you decide to do, the pixie dust from Tinker Bell will keep everything magical and exciting for you and your family dreaming about that next Disney cruise. :earboy2:

I know, it's a bit more granular than that. The OBB discount is a good example. It's attached to a specific booking. If the booking is cancelled, the discount is gone. (Disney, of course, will honor it and extend it under the current circumstances.)

The problem comes up when you want to move funds around.

Suppose you have a full paid August 2021 cruise (like we do). If I want to pull funds out of that cruise to book another cruise or make a payment towards an existing one, I can't do it while keeping the August cruise alive. That's because the TA commissions on the August cruise have been paid out, and pulling funds out of the cruise now will create a major accounting headache.

Disney will ask you to cancel the cruise, take your funds, and use them again into your new combination of cruises (with new prices). This has been confirmed a number of times by both Disney and our TA. And that's why we typically don't pay off cruises in full until we are sure we won't need the funds held in them for another sailing.

That IS an interesting twist. I've never explored the option of pulling partial funds out of a PIFed cruise to make payment on another cruise. Very interesting. I hope it works out for you in the end.

I think that may only be if the second try for the first cruise was also cancelled. But I don’t see why they wouldn’t get credit for two original cruises booked before the pandemic.

We had a Sep cruise cancelled- moved that FCC to May. Booked a Jan cruise then moved that FCC credit to Nov.

That is correct. Any cruise that you already applied FCC to will not get additional FCC if cancelled. If you had another 2 or 3 cruises booked and they get cancelled, as long as there was no previous FCC applied, you would get FCC for each of those cruises.
