2nd Bun

There was a family sitting behind my daughter and I just happened to glance over and the son (10-12-ish) was eating just a bun with cheese, and reaching for his mom's bun with just the cheese as well.
We do this all the time, but it is usually McDonald's. Since we are vegetarians and sometimes it is just easier to go to McDonald's to get cheesebuns and yogart then other vegetarian options (ie sit down restaurant).

and you can just order the sandwich if you want. save yourself the 2 bucks.

They give you $2 off when you didn't get the fries? Geesh, they only gave us .79 off LOL. As far as the bun goes, I have no problem getting my hubby's cheese on the cheesburger on the side (since he doesn't eat cheese), as well as that extra bun (we paid .99 at Beaches for it) and I'll have me a cheese sandwich..much better than having to eat the meat LOL.

We have also ordered the meatless cheeseburger from McDonald's. My DS7 went through a stage where he did not want meat. I was never embarrassed, but going through the drive thru, I was usually frustrated. The person taking the order just could never figure out what I wanted. I remember one time when we had no choice but to go to the drive thru I told my son there was no way I was ordering his cheese sandwich he would have to have the chicken. I just couldn't deal with the "You want what?" question and then the " oh so you just want meat." and then me saying "No I just want cheese and bun." We go back and forth like this for a few minutes and then of course finally they say "Huh?" :crazy2:

Anyway sorry about that little vent! LOL! I would say face to face no problem, drive-thru no way. Lucky for us no drive thru at Disney. Oh wait I think there is at the McDonald's. But I won't be going there. :teeth:

Sorry never answered the OP's question. I don't think it's a big deal at all to order just the bun. They probably get all sorts of requests and don't think a thing about it.

My extra bun in November at Pecos Bills was .85 plus .04 tax =.89c. No problems, questions or funny looks. My son and I like totally different toppings on our burgers. :wave2:

Okay, so they are going to charge anywhere from 25¢ - $1.00 for an extra bun, how much do they charge for a bun with just cheese? Anyone know? I remember the burgers @ Beaches N'Cream being big and I thought DH & I could split a double cheeseburger. Do they put 2 slices of cheese on a double or would I need to order it?

And to answer the OP's question, no, I would have no problem ordering just a bun.

We did this twice during our trip in Jan. Once at Beaches and once at Backlot Express. We were using a voucher at Beaches and they didn't charge us at all for the extra bun and were charged less than a dollar at Backlot. I didn't feel wierd at all! The lady taking our order at Backlot said that they sell alot of buns.

We did this for our trip last year and it was about .80. The first time, I felt a little weird until the lady working the register told me how smart I was to do that and that people did it all the time. We never had any problems.

When we ordered a "cheesebun" it was a couple of bucks cheaper then buying the burger combo. I never bought it w/o the fries so I am not sure what it would be if you got just the "cheesebun"

How much is a double burger?

And how much is a single burger?

Is it cost effective to buy a double burger and extra bun?

Here is the price from allearsnet.com:

"Burger Heaven - juicy beef patty topped with your choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickle served on a fresh baked bun single $6.99; double $8.99; cheese $0.40"

So if they charge you $1 for the bun it would cost $9.99 for a double & extra bun. This would be $5 each. So there would be $2 savings.

Not sure where you are thinking about purchasing a double burger...but according to Allears, at both Pecos Bills and Cosmic Rays in the MK the double burgers (with bacon) and fries are $7.29. If you add $.85 for the cost of the extra bun, it's $8.14. Divide by 2 people, and it's $4.07, not including tax. A single burger with bacon (for comparison) is $5.29 plus $.79 for the bacon, total $6.08. Saves roughly $2 per person assuming each would purchase the singles otherwise...

Just FYI, I did some further calculating and found the savings are less (only a little over $1) if you are splitting with a child who would otherwise have a kids' meal for $3.99.
