2nd Anniversary + 2nd Chances = Our 2nd Cruise! 7/20 NEWS!!

Thanks for posting pics of Cornado. We've thought of staying here, but being from the Southwest always wondered if it would be, as you say, "to close to home".

It is gorgeous though, and no where in Phoenix do we have any type of lush green area :)

Hi! Beautiful pictures! I am an RN. The ginger ale thing is for real. Use it:thumbsup2 Ginger is a natural anti nauseal and it really works. Cool washcloths are handy too. Can't wait to hear more about your trip.

Glad to hear such positive things about CoronadoSprings Resort!!! We are staying there in September!:woohoo: The decision was based on the queen size beds, and we loved the pics of the pool. Also, we were initially going to take an all inclusive trip to Mexico, but after all of the trouble that's been going on there, we chose, yes, Disney World, with the theme of Mexico. I never thought that we'd be back, but here we go again.......

Thanks again! Oh, and get on that dining report so I can see how many TS and snack credits you had left in the end!:rotfl2:

Great trip report so far! You asked awhile back about our anniversary on the 23rd of May when I commented on yours..It was our 12 year wedding anniversary with 14 years together:thumbsup2

A morning sickeness tip: ginger ale sip it:) go to Walgreens and buy some Sea Bands. It puts pressure on a point in your wrist. I don't know why it works but it does.. and last but not least keep some saltines by your bed and chew on some before you get up it will help!
For me smells set me off! I could not smell Johnsonville Brats without getting sick lol!

12 years!! Congrats!!

Thanks for the tips! Without giving anything away, you'll see I quickly become a Ginger Ale addict  I also was advised by my Dr to buy Seabands before we left so I had those with me too.

Overall, I've been lucky, there have only been 4-5 occasions (counting that one) where I've felt really nauseas....

I hear ya about the lush green area ... it's what I miss most from home (originally from KS but moved to NM 9 years ago) ;)

How exciting for the September trip. I've now been in May, June, July and September and I have to say that so far September has been my favorite time of year to be at WDW :goodvibes

BABY UPDATE!!!

I had my first ultrasound yesterday :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

We found out that I am actually a week "less pregnant" than my Dr originally predicted, but I don't care, I am just so happy to be blessed with a baby!!

I had the most awesome ultrasound technician ... she had this very thick New York accent and then she was training a student who had a very thick Midwest twang. The experience was absolutely hysterical and made for a great memory!

When I got there she advised me that since we weren't certain how far along I was the baby might not be visible abdominally and they may have to do the ultrasound "the other" way  Luckily, as soon as she set the ultrasound probe on my belly you could see the little girl/guy immediately! She had to do several images and measurements for the Dr to get my due date figured out. Well, the baby cooperated for all the measurements, but every time she would get ready to snap the picture the baby would "jump" out of the shot :rotfl: Candi goes "Oh no! Exactly like Mama, always on the go!" :lmao:

We did finally get all the images needed and discovered that I was 9 weeks exactly. That gives me a due date of January 31!

The baby is very healthy and had a good, solid heartbeat of 170 beats per minute! When I heard the heartbeat I cried so hard that I started laughing and got the hiccups all at the same time  Candi was so amazed with how fast it was that he was completely speechless.

It was truly one of the most amazing days of our lives!

Hey we Midwesterners don't have accents so I have no idea what you are talking about lol:confused3 I cried the first time I saw both my girls on the monitor. What a neat experience:) Well I am off to see the midnight showing of "Eclipse." Can't wait to hear more from your trip:worship:

:thumbsup2 Such an AMAZING moment! I just stumbled upon your report and am loving it! Can't wait to read more.

Midwesterners don't have accents-everyone else does!:rotfl2: I have felt the same way when I have lived in other places!
How exciting to see and hear the baby for the first time. It becomes very real doesn't it? Being pregnant is really amazing.

Hey now, hey now, I'm from Kansas - born and raised - so don't worry, I adore the Midwest twang  It was weird, but having a tech, even a student, from the Midwest actually made me feel more relaxed :goodvibes

Thanks for joining along :goodvibes

Don't worry, growing up in Kansas I used to agree with you about everyone else having an accent

So, the plan for the night was to catch the first bus that pulled up between Downtown and Magic Kingdom so that we could hop another bus or the monorail to the Polynesian. We had dinner reservations at O'hanas for 9:45 p.m. and we had originally planned to get a Lapu Lapu and Backscratcher from the Poly lounge and then head out to the beach to watch the Wishes fireworks before checking in for dinner.

Here's what really happened :rotfl:

I realized the only outfit I had packed in my carry on required me to need to shave and, of course, I couldn't pack a razor in my carry on. So, we headed down to the gift shop to purchased a razor. When looking for the room key I discovered this in our check-in packet

DSC_0278.jpg

We both thought it was such a sweet gesture. In case it's too hard to read it basically said "thank you for joining us for your celebration, please enjoy a free champagne toast at the Laguna Bar."

After coming across the room key we headed down to the gift shop in search of a razor. I was hoping I could find something relatively inexpensive since my nice one was packed away in our luggage. I came across a 2 pack of disposables and declared them good enough. We then headed back to the room to get ready and I realized we were running quite a bit behind in order for our plan to work out.

When we got to the room guess what was waiting for us? Yep, the rest of our luggage from Magical Express :lmao: Oh well, we scurried around to get ready and then headed out to the bus stop. I contemplated taking my camera, it generally never leaves my hand at Disney , but decided I wanted to just enjoy our first night together. I didn't want to be "distracted" from my time with Candi taking pictures. And, if we made it in time for Wishes I wanted to just sit back in the sand and watch them.

Last year, we watched Wishes the first time on that trip from the balcony at Narcoossees and Candi had said we both should make a wish. I am being completely honest when I say that I had wished to be pregnant by the end of 2010 :goodvibes

We were talking about that night on the way to the bus stop and I asked Candi what he wished for. He said he watched me standing there with my eyes closed making a wish and he stopped and prayed that whatever I was wishing for would come true :lovestruc

The walk to the bus stop was a short one and we stood waiting for the bus. It seemed like it was about 20 minutes before a bus pulled around and instead of being lit up with a stop it said in training or something like that. The next bus that came around was for Hollywood Studios so we decided to get on that bus and transfer to a Poly bus from there. I'm not going to lie I was pretty agitated that it took over 30 minutes for a bus to come along and I had to remind myself to just relax and "go with the flow."

After we arrived at Hollywood Studios it only took about 10 minutes for a bus to the Polynesian to pull up. But, at that point we knew there was no way we were going to make it in time for Wishes. It was only a couple minutes before Wishes was starting. I knew there were two options at that point I could either be upset that plans didn't work out or I could put a smile on my face and enjoy whatever took place instead.

Once we arrived to the Poly we decided to go ahead and just check in for our meal, if all else failed maybe we would get seated a little early. After getting our buzzer we relaxed in the Tambu lounge and watched part of the NBA finals. Of course, I wouldn't be getting a Lapu Lapu now, but I told Candi he should still get his backscratcher. He said he felt mean getting a drink when I couldn't even though I told him several times it wasn't a big deal. In the end, he passed and we just enjoyed the game while we waited to be seated.

We were seated pretty close to our ADR time, but it was definitely worth the wait. Our table was next to a window front and center with an amazing view of the castle all lit up :goodvibes Our server wasn't the best, but he definitely wasn't the worst either. To be honest, it didn't matter because between the view and the food it was one of the best meals we've ever had at Disney. It was more food than we could ever try to finish but it was all delicious. Out of the appetizers our absolute favorite was the salad with honey lime dressing ... oh my goodness, out of this world. And the pork dumplings .... DELICIOUS ... I honestly could have made a meal out of them. The noodles were good, but not great and the vegetables were, well, vegetables  For the meats my favorite was definitely the BBQ pork loin, but Candi's was hands down the peel and eat shrimp.

We left O'hanas overly happy, overly stuffed and overly tired. Even though we left Albuquerque later than usual, it had still been a long day and I was more than ready to call it a night. The Magic Kingdom had been closed for a couple hours now as it was already nearly midnight so we figured the only way back was to take a bus to Downtown and then transfer from there. We got to the bus stop and waited .... and waited .... and waited ... and waited ... and waited some more. It was now 12:35 and I was getting worried that there wouldn't be a bus coming, when a huge group on students on Senior trip came over and said they had been ensured a bus would be around. And, about 5 minutes later a bus did pull up. Well, the huge group of students were joined by a huge group of more students who all came running up as the bus was pulling up. I kid you not, a group of about 5 of the boys seriously pushed me over to get to the doors, as in, I literally fell to the ground because it happened so fast I couldn't catch my balance. It didn't hurt, but it scared me so bad I started crying and tried to keep Candi from reacting at the same time. Now, I thought the entire incident was rude but I couldn't believe it when one of their "girlfriends" told them what happened and one of the boys turned around looked at me, laughed and called me a "loser."

I just stood there for a moment stunned and crying ... the bus driver yelled at us to get on the bus, which at this point was standing room only. We loaded up and guess who I get to stand in front of .... yep, rude boy. Candi told him "I think you were a jerk for what you did back there, how about you make it up by letting my wife sit in your spot since she's pregnant and tired and now hurting from getting knocked over." You know what the kid said "not my fault she couldn't run fast enough." I whispered to Candi to just drop it and we rode the rest of the way to downtown in silence.

After what seemed like the longest bus ride ever to downtown, we unloaded and walked up to the bus stop for CSR just as a bus was pulling up. It was so funny, we were the only ones on the bus, but our bus driver noticed our Anniversary pins and played the recording that asks everyone to wish us a Happy Anniversary. He then proceeded to clap really loud and tell us Happy Anniversary in this loud "singy" type voice.

By the time we got back to our room and ready for bed it was nearly 2 in the morning and I was downright pooped. I crawled into bed, turned on ESPN for Candi and was out before I could give it a second thought ......

Lessons Learned on Arrival Day:

1. It DOES help to be overly prepared (i.e. printing all documents to carry with you)

2. Don't always believe what you hear or read .... even on the Dis ;)

3. Putting down the camera is sometimes a good thing

4. Even at Disney there are rude people

5. At Disney there are ALWAYS extra nice people who go out of their way to make you feel important

Money Spent on Arrival Day:

Breakfast in ABQ airport (yogurt parfait and bottle of orange juice) - $9.50

Food at Wolfgang in KC airport (grape/cheese tray, bottled water and sandwich) - $17.17

Two nights at Coronado Springs - $398

2 pack of disposable razors - $3.15

Dinner for 2 at O'hanas - $76.01

that rotten little so and so:mad::mad::mad:
I don't think that my DH would have shown the restraint and that little so and so would have been walking, instaed of riding the bus and NOT comfortably. Of course he may have also gone to jail for beating on a thoughtless little jerk too:scared:
I'm so sorry that you had to go thru that!

I, too, give Candi kudos for his self-restraint. I do not think I would have responded/reacted so well had it been my DW. Glad you did not let it ruin your night!

First, I want to say that Candi's wish for your wish to come true is one of the sweetest and most romantic things that I've ever heard!:goodvibes

Second, I am sooo glad to hear such positive things about 'Ohana. We have an ADR there too, and I've been reading some questionable things about it. But like you said, I just can't believe everything I read!

Third, I am sooooo sorry that you had such a horrible experience with that rude boy! It's a shame that things like that happen! Teenagers should come with a license plate that says.....How's my behavior? Call 1-800-.........!

How exciting to hear your baby's heartbeat for the first time! :cloud9:

I'm sorry to hear about those ignorant kids that pushed you down. Kudos for Candi for restraint. I wouldn't have been able to do that and probably would have gotten myself in trouble or just waited for another bus. I hope that was the only bad experience on this trip

Can't wait to hear more! :goodvibes

I've so enjoyed your TR and pictures!! Thanks for letting us in on the fun - your enthusiasm for Disney is SO fun to share. Congrats on your little one and every mama in the world will tell you to soak up all the special moments slowly along the way because life moves FAST when you have kiddos. :goodvibes

One tip - those ultrasound prints will fade with time so scan them into your computer or take pictures of them to save. Someone I knew even had downsized the pic to fit in a silver photo necklace.

Looking forward to the rest of your TR and hope your queasies are over or easier soon! Another tip - stay rested and hydrated but busy - it makes it so much better.

Trust me a million versions of screaming "you bleep bleep ...." but I knew that it wouldn't make me feel better and I just wanted to get to the hotel and go to bed.

The ONLY reason Candi restrained himself is because he knew I meant it when I told him to drop it. In the end, he had to deal with me  and I just didn't want to make it a bigger scene than it already had been.

Thank you for the comments :goodvibes I, too, was worried about O'hanas but knew it was the type of restaurant we would normally like so we tried it. Not all the meats were great, but we both loved a least one. Same thing with the appetizers neither of us were big fans of the noodles but we both loved the salad and dumplings. Overall we were still thrilled because we just got more of what we loved and asked them to take away what we didn't like :thumbsup2

The thought of waiting for another bus definitely crossed my mind, but I was so tired I decided to just deal with it.

After a great night's sleep (man, those beds are SOOOOO comfortable!) I got up and showered and balanced out our bank account. By the time I finished that up Candi was up and getting around.

The original plan for the day was to eat at Cape May Cafe for breakfast, hang out at Stormalong Bay most of the day, lunch at Beaches 'n Cream, free afternoon for whatever, roam around the Boardwalk that evening, dinner at Fultons and dessert at Goofy's Candy Co.

Well, with the change in resort came, of course, a change in plans. So, what did we do instead .....

That morning did not actually start in the morning, so much as it did in the early afternoon :rotfl: By the time we got ready and headed out the door it was almost 11:30! Candi was beyond thrilled, as all other vacations to Disney I was pulling him out the door most days at around 8:00 am!

We headed down to the bus stop discussing what we wanted to do and decided to head to Downtown for lunch. Although we still could have ate at Beaches 'n Cream without staying at Beach Club my belly was feeling "heavy" and I just wasn't feeling a big 'ol greasy burger or .... gasp! .... giant sized ice cream treats :scared1:

When we got to the bus stop there were TONS of people waiting to board a bus so we grabbed a bench in the corner of the stop to wait for the downtown bus.

DSC_0287.jpg

It again, took almost half an hour before the bus we needed came around but by that point the bus stop was pretty empty and we enjoyed the quiet and alone time :thumbsup2

DSC_0286.jpg

And, as proof of how much I was "taking it easy" this trip

DSC_0288.jpg
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We got to downtown fairly quickly and decided to hop off at whichever downtown stop was first.

DSC_0290.jpg

We had decided on the bus that we wanted to eat at Earl of Sandwich. We had tried the one in Las Vegas earlier this year and were in love! As we got off the bus we checked out the map and saw that we were relatively close so we headed in what we (thought) was the right direction. I had commented to Candi that even after the amazing view of the castle the night before, it wasn't until we got to Downtown that I really felt like I was in Disney. On all previous trips we had always headed to Downtown the first night, and I realized I liked that "tradition."

We roamed around for a while taking it all in before we stopped for lunch

DSC_0292.jpg

DSC_0293.jpg

I then remembered that I had made a back-up reservation at T-Rex in case Beaches 'n Cream was too full. But after verifying the reservation time (not until 2:30) we decided to go ahead with the plan of EOS.

Keep in mind that we had never been there in Disney before .... we were SHOCKED at how packed that place was! Oh my goodness, they had people directing you were to stand in line, when to move forward, when to wrap around the line. It was pure and utter craziness I tell ya!

However, all the directing worked, because we were ordering our sandwiches and looking for seats in about 10 minutes! There weren't any seats inside so I dashed outside to look while Candi filled up our drinks. I found a seat with 2 chairs secluded in a shaded corner - perfect :goodvibes

DSC_0295.jpg

DSC_0296.jpg

Pretty much as soon as Candi found me and brought over our drinks, the buzzer went off to collect our sandwiches. Candi had the Original with salt and vinegar chips and I had the Earl Club with potato salad. Candi was in love and declared it his favorite sandwich ... ever! I absolutely loved the club but wasn't really a big fan of the potato salad, wish I would have gone with the macaroni salad like I originally grabbed ... oh well.

After finishing our yummy and inexpensive lunch, we headed out in search of some shopping fun! We had a list of people to buy souvenirs for and although we wanted to look for most of them on the ship, we had promised Candi's Goddaughter a gift from Disney World AND the Mickey boat .... just seeing how much he spoils her I am scared to know how spoiled our baby will be

After a completely satisfying meal at Earl of Sandwich we decided to hit the shops for a mini shopping spree. I was worried about buying too much because we had to pack up, load the ship, buy stuff there , pack up, go back to Disney, buy stuff there ;), and pack up one last time to head home. PHEW, I'm tired just typing all that :lmao:

It was obvious that the extra sleep that morning had put Candi in high spirits when he said since we had no evening plans we could shop as long as I wanted ... SAY WHAT??? However, I wasn't sure how long I was going to make it, as the humidity was in full force

DSC_0305.jpg

Clearly, not the greatest picture of me, but you can see what the humidity did to my hair .... and my hair isn't even curly

The first shop we stumbled upon on our adventure was TrenD

DSC_0308.jpg

They had tons and tons of Alice in Wonderland stuff and it was so hard not to buy everything for my sister's upcoming bridal shower (it is a Wonderland tea party theme). However, I restrained myself and continued looking. At some point in the store a nice gentleman stopped me to ask me about the camera I was using. He said he was debating between mine, Nikon D5000 and a D90. The price difference was huge and wanted my feedback on the D5000. We talked for quite a while because my Dad has the D90 so I am slightly familiar with it. I told him his best bet would be to go to a Sams Club or Costco and get one of their bundle packages and he seemed thrilled with the suggestion. I love how in Disney everyone is so pleasant :goodvibes

As we were about to make our way out of the shop to head on the heavens opened and the rains poured

DSC_0311.jpg

So, we took advantage of the time to spend more time looking around. TrenD is a pretty nifty store and they have a lot of stuff. We debated getting his Mom one of the Mickey Dooneys, but in the end left the store empty handed.

Our next stop was Candi's choice ... the ESPN store. This ended up working out well as I already knew what gift I wanted to get his Goddaughter's brother. He is the BIGGEST Texas Longhorns fan and I had seen a Texas shirt with Mickey Mouse on it on somebody else's TR before we left. I knew this would be the most perfect souvenir for Matthew :thumbsup2 Candi also fell in love with an Atlanta Braves baseball cap .... until he realized it wasn't adjustable. He has such a small head for an adult that none of the pre-sized hats fit him. The size smalls are always too small but the mediums are always too big :sad2: We were about to check out when I heard Candi yell ahead to me that he found an awesome souvenir that we just had to get. I turned around and nearly cried when I realized what he had

DSC_0312.jpg

If you remember from our introductions, Candi is the biggest sports fan ever! We have every ESPN channel possible and if it's a sports game, sports news or sports highlights he is more than happy to sit and watch it :rotfl: He was genuinely excited to find this for the baby ... how could I say no! And yes, even if it's a girl we will put her in it ... just add some cute bows to her hair to "girlify" it ;)

After leaving the ESPN store we just roamed around Downtown for a while.

DSC_0319.jpg

DSC_0321.jpg

At one point I started to feel dehydrated so we stopped at a cart for water. It also happened to be a churro cart so we added one of those and a sprite to the order. Well, as we went to pay the machine went down and wouldn't take credit cards. We asked where the closest ATM machine was and went to hand the items back to the CM. He said to just take them with us and bring the money on our way back through. We asked him if he was sure and he insisted! This, of course, would never ever happen in the "real world" and we were shocked at how trusting he was about it. We made sure to go straight to the ATM machine and straight back so we didn't forget about it later :thumbsup2

After we paid the super nice CM we decided to check out the new gift shop where you can make your own remote control cars.

DSC_0323.jpg

This place was super cool and we knew it had to be a huge hit .... especially with all the boys (big or little )

From there we roamed around a while longer talking about the excitement of our upcoming cruise. We had really put behind us the negative experience of last time and we anxious to see what was in store the next 5 days.

We made a couple of stops along the way, one at the World of Disney. I needed to buy my Mom her birthday present and have it mailed to her house. I ended up getting her a popcorn bucket set, sadly I don't have a picture and got her several different flavors of Disney popcorn to go with it. My Mom loves to watch movies at home and believes the only proper way to watch a movie is to eat popcorn while doing it! I knew this was the perfect gift for her! I also tried to throw in some salt water taffy, but they refused to mail that due to possibility of it melting .... just an FYI for anyone who wants to mail gifts or packages home :goodvibes Candi also decided we should buy some Pirate ears for Pirate night on the cruise. I found a super cute pink set that said "Pirate Princess" in pink rhinestones on it, but Candi couldn't find any that he liked. So, we ended up buying a couple of T-shirts instead!

While waiting in line to check out I noticed super cute pin the CM had that I wanted Candi to trade for. As a side note, we had never traded before and had bought a bunch of pins on Ebay before our trip last year but forgot them when we were packing. So, Candi made sure they were one of the first things we threw in the suitcase this time! I had him trade a Snow White pin (not a fan ... sorry) and scored myself

DSC_0339.jpg

After completing our shopping at World of Disney we headed over to the create your own T-shirt shop to see about making his Goddaughter a shirt. We didn't end up really falling in love with anything, though we think the idea is great. So, we headed over to the leather stand to buy her a leather braided bracelet we had seen earlier in the day. She is a little cowgirl type, does barrel racing and all and we thought she would really like it. Candi said we had to make one last detour and stopped at the Pick a Pearl station to offer to buy me something. I looked around but didn't like any of the settings so I kindly declined.

I had pretty much had all I could handle at the moment with the heat and walking so we headed to the bus stop to head back to the hotel. Of course, not without making a stop at

DSC_0340.jpg

Not sure where we are at?

DSC_0341.jpg

How about now?

Last year we had done the create your own snacks at Goofys Candy Co and I fell in love with them. I had made the same creation as the previous year, 3 pretzel rods dipped in milk chocolate, coated with peanut butter chips and drizzled with more milk chocolate - YUM! Candi had a caramel apple - boring!

As we were walking out with our goodies Candi noticed something out of the corner of his eye and said he would be right back. What had he noticed?

DSC_0358.jpg

I had recently become obsessed with ICEEs and when he saw this sign

DSC_0359.jpg

he said he couldn't resist grabbing one for me. My favorite thing ever is banana and they just so happened to have banana glaciers so that is what he chose. It was so cold and refreshing and I enjoyed every last ounce of it!

With yummy chocolate goodness and nice icy banana glacier we headed back to the hotel for a nap before we decided what to do for the rest of the night ....
