And yes, Jason - I know this is a long post..:rotfl:

I'll answer you later.

;)

Yes, I'm a major procrastiantor! No, I haven't really found a good way of changing. :( I feel your pain, though. If I didn't have either DH or sometimes my parents to push me into action, there's a lot I wouldn't do because of just not getting around to it. :(

C.Ann... I do feel your pain. I procrastinate a lot as well. I wish I knew how to get over it but I am really truly awful and have almost gotten "in trouble" due to my procrastination. SO I feel your pain and wish I had some good advice for you {{hugs}} Don't second guess yourself though on your resume, and best of luck job hunting!

I could have written that post word for word! Are you a virgo? I would be WAY better off financially if I weren't a procrastinator. I've been out of school for 29 months and have only worked for 16 of those! I just can't commit to a job that isn't perfect (until I get desperate). Then there is the $10,000 out-of-state fee I could have saved if I had applied for in-state a year earlier. Then the $1,000 rabies treatment that the dean said would be covered by the school but wound up on my bill and I never got "around to" confronting it. Then there are all the stupid things I've signed up for and never cancelled that I'm still paying for (like the credit insurance which is totally useless and I've had on my "to do" list for about 6 months). The list goes on. I even have the donation pile that's been sitting here for at least 3 months. I can never get ahead, and it's not like I haven't had the time.

As for the "all or nothing" perfection, I've got lots of half-finished scrapbooks that are up to 10 years old. I also have lots of blank sketch pads and journals that I just can't "ruin" because I don't feel like anything I would put on/in them would be good enough. Then there is the messy house, the exercise equipment that I rarely use, etc... This post is so depressing that I WOULD be inspired to get off my butt and do something if it weren't for the fact that I actually worked 11 hours today and am POOPED.

My get up and go got up and went enough said.:D

National Procrastination Week is postponed until next month. :teeth:

C.Ann you sound like you need a ((((((((HUG)))))))))so here you go...First off....it sounds like I could have written that post! so you are not alone....and I bet your resume is just fine!

You know, I was thinking that most of us probably have other things we should be doing with our time than DISing. So maybe we should have a "DIS daily challenge" that gives us a small goal to reach during our habitual DISing hours. (I mean, the DIS isn't going to suffer if we are online 2.5 hours a day rather than 3, right?) Part of my problem is that I have no one to answer to. Even if I only had a roommate, I would be inspired to keep the house more neat or to get off my rump more often. So, we could "answer" to each other here... we would sign in when we met the challenge (something simple like "wash the dishes" would do wonders for me  ). Of course, I can't commit to anything. I think my aversion to committment is closely-related to the perfectionist / procrastinator / avoidance disorder. (Did you know there is acutally an avoidance personality disorder? -- not sure of the actual name of it though)

I am EXACTLY the same way. I'm still working on my scrapbook from our 2000 trip because it HAS to be PERFECT. Scrapbooking is NOT a good hobby for people like us. I decided not to scrapbook any trips after this. LOL

I find myself able to accomplish less & less at work lately too. It's driving me crazy.

By the way, I'm a Libra too. Wonder if that means anything.

Hi C.Ann,
I do not stuggle with procrastination, but married a man that does, so I have alot of empathy and understanding of the problem. Although the problem is bigger than this, I just want to give you one tip that he says has helped him so much, and you already mentioned it. Make a daily list for yourself of what you want to accomplish. Sounds like you did that today, good for you, but here is the secret...do it again tomorrow. If you do it every day, in one month you won't believe what you have accomplished. The secret is doing a little something EVERY day. It all adds up, (just like weight loss, but that's another story, lol). All the best to you, and by the way, mail that resume!

*sigh* I wish I was not a procrastinator but I so am. :( I hate it too. Even today I was trying to get caught up on some things that I've been putting off every day for months. I did get 2 out of 8 things on my list done.

Oh boy - do I hear you! I just started scrapbooking (like I should be spending my time doing that - right?) and it's turning into a NIGHTMARE!!! I'm doing a scrapbook of the tragedy of 9/11 with all of the ZILLIONS of newspaper and magazine articles I saved and not only does it take me forever to DO a page, but I'm determined to put EVERY single clipping in there and I'm up to over 300 pages now - 600 if you count both sides!!!!!!!! I've actually had to break it up into two volumes and I'm not even halfway done!!

Geez - I wish they had a pill for this! :(

That doesn't sound normal. I wouldn't even dream of attempting something like that! Of course, my most current scrapbook is from my senior year of high school -- 1991! When all this fancy scrapbooking became popular, my attempts just looked lame in comparison to the stuff I've seen, so I put it off until I could come up with something spectacular. Well I guess that one will be sitting on the shelf unfinished for another decade.

Can't help you since I'm looking at a container of Easter stuff still waiting to go to the attic:eek:
