Well here's my 1st PTR ever! Well, maybe more of like a plead for mercy.

Yesterday I hopped up on my facebook account (I just signed up earlier this week) and saw my wonderful wife's cousin had posted some new pictures from her recent Disney Trip. Of course I melted as I daydreamed of the day we go back. Tina came over and we went through the pictures together and one thing led to another within a few minutes and now we're going! No, I don't have a job that pays enough that we can do this whenever we want, nor does she. This is how it went down.

Me: "I don't know. Yea, we can do it on a budget but even that is expensive"

Tina: "Well we still have our tax return money"

Me: "Right but that's not till March or April usually"

Tina: "No, you were worried about your job earlier this year and you told me not to spend it"

Me:  :scared1:  :woohoo:  :dancer:

So, in a few minutes I'm going to head out to a travel agent and see if they can't beat the deals I'm comming up with online. Usually we go using DVC points but this time it's all out of pocket. The weirdest thing though, as soon as it became a reality, I went Disney stupid. I've been able to help other people plan their vacation with no problem within an hr. I now have 26 days and I'm freaking out!

Dates: Jan 1, 2010 til Jan 6.

Why would we make a plan for such short notice? This is absolutely the only doable week for us until November. In November we'll be going home to the Beach Club, but for now it's Value Hunting Time! I'm heading out but will be updating this with pics and info soon. Chime in at any time, don't be shy!

How fun! You can do it. We went with just five days notice over Thanksgiving! Of course, my parents stayed at Wilderness with their DVC membership and we went with them, so it wasn't difficult for me to do on short notice. We winged it - no ADR's, no plans to be in a certain park on a certain day. It was nice not having a plan and just going with whatever.

I'm sure the crowds will be great for a January trip. Can't wait to see it all play out.

I visited your thread from your previous TR. Cute boys!!!!

My sister and I did something similar over the summer. I think we booked about 21 days in advance. We didn't make ADRs. We're not into being locked into something, but did look into some using the online system and places were available. Jan. is a great time to go.

Just popping in to say hi and to good luck with planning your trip. Going on such short notice will probably be stressful---but also exciting---and hey, you're going back to Disney! I'm guessing you are going to cram like crazy since you'll be bringing the new camera, right? :thumbsup2

Heck yea!!!! You know I'm not afraid to take it! We came up with the idea last night. About an hour later I looked at my camera settings and thought "I don't have a clue!" I'm going to talk to a few people this week to see if I can bum a tripod on short notice. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time!

This is going to be a weird trip but it's opening my eyes up a little to different things. For one, we aren't doing park hoppers. A little while ago, Tina said we really need to plan our parks around which one is doing extra magic hrs which nights. With 10,000 things going on I hadn't even thought of that. Usually we wake up and decide what park we feel like doing that morning. In the evening we end up wherever we have ADR's that day.

That's the other different thing. We're just doing the Quick Service meal plan this yr, so no ADR's. I guess with less than a month to plan, it's a good thing. I'd rather go to placed we WANT rather than whatever is left over. In all honesty, it's going to be a great trip. This is the very first time we all took a vacation together with just the four of us. Usually we have someone from her side or my side going everywhere we go, which isn't a bad thing at all since we all get along so well, but this time it's just us. Well, time to go start a list on what to pack!

Your trip WILL be awesome! And hey, since it's such short notice, you won't have long to wait.

I'm jealous you are going during low crowd times. You'll be able to get so much done.

I am so excited for you:banana: I hope you gave your wife a GREAT BIG hug when she told you about the saved $$! My DH and I did a last minute trip to the world just the 2 of us just before my son's 1st birthday...we booked at about 20 days....it was the longest 20 days of our life we were so excited...our last trip was planned for over a year and we couldn't believe how fast the time went by...same with this trip...every time I look I keep thinking it's under 50 days and I haven't even made the t-shirts, or pulled out the suitcases to make sure they are in good condition or if they need replaced:sad2: We always go in january and love the low wait times...being from Canada, we are are not too concerned about the cooler temps...just happy not to have to bundle up every time we open the door!

Looking forward to hearing more about your plans!

I've given her plenty since than! :lmao: My head is still spinning around the idea as we've never done a vacation where it was just us let alone this short of notice:banana: DISNEY HERE WE COME:woohoo:
