There is major confusion concerning what happened next. The four of us are sure of one thing. We saw the parade. We positively know where we watched it. We have pictures to prove it. Did we watch it before meeting Sharon from Canada or after? Who knows?
But we indeed saw the parade.
See
I have very detailed trip report notes. Very, very meticulous notes. No where in the notes does it say we saw the parade. Oh, well. Just know we did.
We all are aware that I had done a lot of planning and a lot of changes had already occurred. The plan was to head back to the hotel, change and go to Cali Grill tonight and see Wishes from the deck and just relax.
That didnt happen.
Grampy hadnt been feeling well all day and he was really starting to not look all that well either. Mucho discussion took place. The new plan Grampy and R were heading back to the rooms. They would grab something to eat from the food court and rest. Jkay and I would stay at the Magic Kingdom and meet back at the room later. I would call Cali Grill and cancel and just pay the cancellation fee. Jkay would actually turn on her cell phone so we could all be in contact. Everybody got that. Jkay, I say again, you have your cell ON right? WRONG.
We high tailed it to the front of the park, with explicit directions to call my cell when they were back to the room. Grampy assured me he was OK and would be in contact. Check and double check. Jkay phone on? Nope!
Woooo Hoooty - girls night out. We can handle this. Jkay broke out the list. She wanted to climb to the top of the tree house. No problem but we may need some energy. I wanted pineapple with breakfast, that didnt happen, so it was Dole Whip time. I get the DIS board favorite snack all the time, before I even knew it was a favorite, because I love pineapple. I think it was the float, with the juice. Yeah, it was good and I mustered the energy to make the big climb. About half way up Jkay asked whose idea this was. Duh! Told her there was not an elevator.
We hit the Jungle Cruise, Pirates and the Tiki Room, did some shopping and pulled up a curb to watch Spectro Magic. The exact same curb we had sat at earlier today to watch the 1st parade, right outside of the Sleepy Hollow snack shop where they happen to sell funnel cakes, perfect for snacking on while waiting. We did, snack on one, while we waited. Spectro was wonderful as always.
We made our way through the masses to watch wishes with the crowd and Jkay actually saw Tink fly. Kid in a candy shop screaming! Really the couple behind us looked at her like she was nuts. Oh well, she is one of my best friends so she probably is. We are mixed nuts in a can, yep that is us.
We werent quite ready to give up our new found freedom so we shopped some more, took lots of pictures and just soaked up the atmosphere of Main Street at night. The Magic Kingdom takes on a whole new life after dark and Jkay was beside herself giddy that she was truly seeing it all.
Finally we started up Main Street to head out. I remembered one more place we needed to stop. Abrupt left into the bakery for coffee, tea and a cookie. We plopped ourselves in a seat and just sat and talked for awhile which we hadnt done in ages.
Jkay and I used to have a standing date, every other Tuesday. Shopping and dinner, just the 2 of us. Mainly it was gossip and food and lots of laughing. She was also my walking partner, 3 times a week, which now seems like an eternity ago. Since Grampys stroke, my girlfriend time has been limited at best and it was great just to spend time with her. It was wonderful to have this, just me and my buddy, enjoying a trip we had both been planning for.
I wanted to make sure that Jkay saw the CMs waving the big Mickey hands as we left and then we jumped on a bus with about 10 other people to head home. Quick check on the men folk, who were sound asleep, and us girls hit the food court for one more mini meal. We split a hotdog and fries and chit chatted with the cutest CM from Texas, Ryan. He told us all about the week before with the Pop Warner kids and that a Basketball tournament was starting tomorrow and a bunch of teams had arrived earlier. The food court would be busy in the AM. Ummmm, breakfast would for sure, be elsewhere.
It was pretty late when we made our way back to the rooms. The day had been really great even with all the changes. Not as I had planned, but still darn good.
If yall think we forgot about Grampy and R when we were out and about, well we didnt.
1st and foremost, R is the most anal person I have ever met, but one of the only I would totally trust to watch out for Grampy.
Plus, Grampy had called when they got to the hotel. He called when they grabbed something to eat. He called when he got in the shower and when he got out of the shower. He called when he got into bed. R called me twice to tell me what Grampy was doing, because Jkay did not answer her phone, as usual. Grampy called to tell me he was going to sleep, so dont call him. R called to find out if I had anything for a sore throat, since I was a walking drug store and he had a sore throat. R called to say he was leaving the connecting door open so he could keep an eye on Grampy but he was going to sleep too. There was more than enough phone contact. Trust me. Verizon wireless loves me.
Up next Please dont tell me all these people are waiting to be seated
