With all of the renovations being done on Cinderella's Castle for the "Greatest Celebration", alot has been said about the Birthday cake look of the castle for WDW's 25th Anniversary. It seems, at least on this board, to have been universally disliked by all. After being a fan of WDW since I was a kid and been there upward of 100 times, I personally loved the look of the castle. It was fun to walk in for a change and see that WDW did something out of the ordinary to one of the parks icons. Is there anyone out there that agrees? Bueller...Bueller...Bueller? (cue lonesome wind blowing through forum) :D No really, anyone else who enjoyed the temporary change?

I did, too. I felt bad that everyone else hated it, because I thought it was nice. However, I saw pictures of what the castle will look like in May of 2005, and think that will be beautiful. More elegant than the cake!

We were there during the time and my son (who was 2 1/2 at the time) absolutely loved it! DH and I thought that it was cute too. We knew that it was just a temporary change, so weren't concerned about it's slightly tacky look- we thought that it was just fun.

Now the castle is going to look gorgeous and elegant for this upcoming celebration! The plans look great! (Even though we are going in a few weeks and will have to look at the green wall mentioned in another thread! )

Can't wait to see the finished look!

I thought it was fun too. I even bought the Ian Frazer statue figurine of the pink castle. It sits next to the regular one to remind me of both times. I'm hoping he does another one of the castle during this celebration to add to my collection! I loved it, but again I go often and have see the castle many times. It would have been sad for someone going their first time or (gulp) one and only time and seeing a pink castle.

I loved the Castle when they did that. I also got a kick when they toilet papered the castle to celebrate Stitch.

I have pictures of the 25th anniv. in my photo album listed below.

I liked the cake look. The only problem I had was that it was my honeymoon and I would have rather had a picture in front of the castle. It just seems more romantic.

I agree, my husband and I LOVED it! We have been to Disney several times and it was neat to see it look different. Although I do see other's point that if it were my first time seeing the castle I might be dissapointed that it didn't look the "right" way.
Can't wait to see the Celebration decorations for the castle! The markup pictures look amazing!

I enjoyed the cake, too.

I also really liked the look of the "birthday cake" castle. I thought it was very fun and symbolic of the events going on in WDW. :flower1:

I also loved the cake castle, especially since my husband and I were there that year celebrating my 25th birthday. I told him when we saw the castle that Disney's customer service was unbelivable, they even turned Cinderella's castle into a birthday cake for my 25th :earboy2:

I loved the cake castle, too. I still have my t-shirt with the castle on one side and the cake castle on the other.

I have that t-shirt too! I collected alot of merchandise from the 25th anniversary and plan to do it for DL's 50th anniversary too! I'm obsessed.

I loved it!!!
I had let 8 years go by without visiting. That was the first thing I saw when we went back in 97. I thought it was a very fitting tribute to the 25th anniversay. It looked like you could go right up and take a bite! princess:

We hated it with a passion. The reason we hated it was because for our very first trip to WDW, the Castle was covered in scaffolding for the preparations for the Cake,, then the next year, of course, the Castle was still a Cake. It wasn't until our third trip, that we got to see the proper Castle. It just really was a bummer not to have seen the MK symbol properly until the third visit. I personaly don't think the Castle should be messed with. Many people save for years, and years for their Dream Trip to DisneyWorld, and want pictures of the Castle. They may not get to have the repeat trips many of us are fortunate to get to have. Let them have their Castle, without Cake.

I think it depends on your circumstances. I didn't mind it (didn't love it though) but my folks were a bit disappointed, because it was their first (and probably only) trip to WDW.
