I have a question how did you get to ride in the wheel house of the Mark Twain Riverboat?

When you get on the boat, head straight up to the very top....the pilot is usually hanging out the window & just ask. We actually asked when we went thru the turnstile. They said it was up to the pilot. They already had someone, so the CM we were talking to said he'd be piloting in a bit & to come back after our lunch. They usually let one family up there per trip, so if they have someone already, just ask if you can do the next trip & hang out. It really was quite a view up there & blowing the horn was fun!!!

Loved reading your TR! :goodvibes Great pictures. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. ;) We were there also on the 13th, but only for a few hours. It was pretty crowded. :crowded: We didn't stay for the fireworks. Had a good meal at Wine Country and rode a few rides.

Wow, that was by far the quickest yet most complete TR I've read.:thumbsup2 Wow, you had a ton of great dining experiences. (And they say DL guests aren't as interested in dining.);) Thanks for the review on Pat-E-Cake, it was VERY helpful. You are right, we will not being doing that one. DD's birthday will probably be our only character dinner. I'm leaning towards Ariel's Grotto but looking forward to hearing more about Celebration Roundup. Thanks for sharing your trip w/ us. Looking forward to seeing more photopass pictures.:goodvibes

Thank you for sharing your trip with us. I really have enjoy it and the conversation.:goodvibes

Great trip report!!

I had to write down where that delicious looking fruit plate came from. We may need to eat breakfast there next Sunday after our Magic Morning. (DH even gave me the a-ok for the sausage, eggs, biscuit meal.)

Thanks for the pics and great descriptions!!

We definately noticed the crowd level had picked up drastically by Friday afternoon, & by the looks of the crowds going in on Saturday.....we planned correctly on our dates!!

Thank you very much. I kept daily notes on things, so it really helped with the report. We also uploaded pictures nightly into seperate folders by day....so that sped the process up as well.
The Pat E. Cake things really irritated me & I'm tempted to write Disneyland & give them my thoughts...nicely but still they need the feedback in my opinion.

Ariel's would be a lovely place for a birthday. You can order at check-in the princess jewelry box (that comes with a personal cake & some goodies) or/and the goodie bags. They have a bag for only $4.99 but not sure what it is you don't get from the deluxe one's we got. They'll also bring her a special celebration dessert complete with candle & singing!! Maybe one of the Princesses would sing to her as well!!!

The Round-Up is still a huge mystery. When we were on the tour, they did tell us they were putting in BBQ restaurant & the round-up would be held there. It sounds like the characters will host, but not be going to tables. (I read that in some threads, but did not hear that from the tour guide). I'm thinking you would get more attention at Ariel's.

PhotoPass pictures......I guess I better get that CD ordered!!! Also have some other pictures that I can scan in & share from the character meals...but our new printer/scanner is not cooperating so haven't gotten the scanner part to work yet!! ugh!

Thank you for sticking with this report!!! It was great having some loyal readers!

I believe you're referring to the River Belle Terrace. You know that was Walt's favorite breakfast place. He loved to sit on the patio & watch the people going by. Have a wonderful trip!!!!!

Kody couldn't figure out why she wasn't feel very good and she just realized that she hasn't taken her pain meds today. Gosh I wonder why huh?

I am okay. My hubby Scotty had a bicycle race today and it was so chilly and nasty in Sacramento this morning. And he is sick so he didn't do well. Poor guy.

Whoops!!! You think she would have realized that!!

Bummer about your hubby being sick....then to be out in the elements...ewwww
We got back to rain, rain, rain. The sun came out on Wednesday & everyone in the household is stuffed up & sneezing.....thank you sun for bringing on the allergens!!!!

It was wonderful!!! The only thing that would have made it perfect was if the twins were there & even my oldest son!!!!!

So as promised earlier, the recipes for the Monte Cristo Sandwich & Gumbo!!!

I decided to give you the links as to not confuse people on who's recipe it belonged to. It is not ours, but we did make both of them this past week.

The Monte Cristo Sandwich doesn't get as "big" or as crisp as it did from Cafe Orleans, but the flavors were spot on. We also didn't do the current jelly sauce & compote listed on the recipe. We were given blackberry jam at the restaurant & that's what we used.

The gumbo was to die for & great for a cold evening. The thing we found hard to find was the andouille. We also didn't worry about the file powder...but the flavors were fantastic!!!

Hope all those that were looking & ready to take on a challenge......will enjoy these....we sure did!!

I have totally enjoyed following this trip report...and thank you so much for the recipes, cant wait to try them!

Well thank you for staying with me!! Have fun with the recipes....they are so worth it!! Made us feel like we were still there....the smells, the flavors....yum!

So as I mentioned earlier in the TR, this would end up being a neverending report. I haven't even ordered our PhotoPass CD yet...so will have lots of pics when that comes in. I also took over 1750 pictures this trip & I only shared just over 400 in the report. So now I'm going thru the pics & adding random shots from each day to share. Some came out good & others could have been better. Hopefully you'll find some enjoyment in them.

I also am working on listing out all the restaurants & snack areas we hit (as you have already drooled on the food pics) & giving you maybe a more detailed review & cost. I figure that could be helpful for someone trying to budget in certain places.

I also am tallying our rides. I was surprised by going land to land & using the official brochure (you get at the gates) on how much we accomplished & also which areas got almost ignored.....so in the days to come I'll have this as well.

These are the random shots from Day One:
