$25. to get a voucher from Song ...

The airfare for our November trip dropped $24. per ticket so since I have 5 tickets I thought I should get vouchers for a future trip next spring.

I have now been told by a representative of Song Airlines that there is now a $25. charge per voucher as of August 4th. 2004.
(I didn't believe the person on the phone and asked to speak to a manager and was told the same thing)

So to get the 5 vouchers for $24. each, ($120. worth of vouchers)
it would cost me $125. I would be losing money!

I guess they want to discourage people from asking for vouchers. Price of airfare now would have to drop by over $25. per ticket to make it worth it. And then, you had better use it or you lose big time!

I was told on the phone that most of the airlines were doing this now, not just Song.

Anyone know if Southwest charges for vouchers now?

Airlines don't have to give vouchers for this purpose, but in recent years airlines have wanted the advance bookings badly enough to offer such vouchers if they lowered the fares later.

Now that airlines are charging a change fee to "downgrade" to a lower fare, you might as well go back to the time tested advice of waiting for a fare sale as opposed to buying now at their everyday low price. (Not recommended for popular dates).

I was in the same boat, I purchased 6 round trip tickets for 10/1 for 155.00 each then 4 days later they went down to 115.00 so i called up song and they gave me vouchers for the difference. I unlike you was lucky and got the whole refund. I guess it was before the deadline. Still it is unbelievable. 1st they should give you the money back-not vouchers and now they want 25 to give you your money back-

Oh my goodness! We just made that deadline by 2 days! I booked our airfare many months ago (our flight is in 2 weeks), and twice the airfare went down, so twice I called and got vouchers issued to us. The last one was recently, but when I just checked, the date was August 2nd! Thats terrible that are now charging you to issue a voucher!

I hope they're not going to charge to USE the vouchers, are they???
