25 movies to see before Oscar night -- which ones have you seen?

17. Star Trek -- Best film of the year (maybe number two behind Iron Man)

Iron Man was 2008, so I guess that makes Star Trek #1, which I completely agree with (although I still think District 9 is a very very close 2nd).

By jove, it was, wasn't it? Well that puts Star Trek (and a dreamy Zachary Quinto) up to numero uno! :cloud9:

An Education- massive crush on the female lead, was good.

So you've not only seen it, but you liked it? I was so creeped out by it that I couldn't even watch the whole thing.

Since posting the list, I've seen District 9 and The Blind Side. I had a very difficult time following D9, but overall I liked it. Really enjoyed TBS and thought Sandra Bullock was incredible.

Star Trek - Loved it (own it)
District 9 - I actually enjoyed this

Julie and Julia - Have had it going on 2 weeks from Netflix and haven't watched it yet.

Went to see the Fantastic Mr. Fox after reading this thread and loved it! It was so--'frigging funny....The Lovely Bones comes out today here and I'm gonna go see it today-- don't care what the critics say, I loved the book and it couldn't all be bad with Peter Jackson directing, Susan Sarandon, Rachel Weis sp? Just wanted to say thaks again for nudging me to see Mr. Fox--it was a gem. Also 2012 is at the cheap theater here now so will see that this weekend too--think only a big screen would do it justice.

I have seen Up, Avatar and The Lovely Bones. All great movies.

Someone else mentioned The Road. This movie is great. My husband cried in it and I have never seen him cry in a movie before.

We went to see Avatar, really we all kind of hated it. I hope it doesn't win best picture this year although I don't know what should...It was ok looking--but honestly I thought Pans Labyrinth was much better visually or even Lord of the Rings....It was sort of Barbie land pretty or something. What everyone says about the plot...doesn the plot just mean nothing these days? I was expecting bad---but not that predictable and simplistic. (and stupid)
On the brighter side went to see The Men Who Stare at Goats at the cheap theater and loved it! Jeff Bridges was great..I'm sure everyone else was good too but I'm sort of fixated on him right now. :lovestruc

I can't believe I've only seen 4!
The Lovely Bones is not on my radar, the previews freaked me out. I couldn't imagine going through that and don't need a movie to put any crazy, horrible situations in my mind.

I wanted to Up In the Air but we never made it. DH chose to watch Sherlock Holmes the only time we had a chance.

I'm waiting on a LOT of these to go to our local Redbox. I can't wait to see (500) Days of Summer

My dd is an actress and got alot of the films this year on DVD so she could vote on the SAG awards. Didnt like up in the air, Precious and inglorius *******s. So glad we didnt pay money to see them!

OK,ok. Went to see Avatar in 3-d and will admit-- an entirely different animal. It should not be allowed in theaters otherwise however. Also saw It's complicated and loved it! With Alec and Martin hosting the awards this year decided it was a must see. Will probably rent the Hurt Locker. Crazy Heart is actually going to show at our local art theater! It was listed in the coming soon column I saw today, and it's finally in Portland so that's a good sign. I'm so glad to be able to see it on the big screen. :::fans self:::::worship:
