They are still working out the bugs, but as far as I could tell, the show went off without a hitch.

It is pretty clear that they took inspiration from The Lion King. Iago is a puppet held by an actor much like Zazu in The Lion King on stage.

No Abu and no Rajah in the show.

During the Prince Ali entrance, Alladin rides on a elephant through the audience, similar to the entrance of animals in the stage version of The Lion King.

There is a new song sung by Jasmine where she sings about her life being like a bird in a guilded cage.

The "Whole New World" sequence includes Alladin and Jasmine flying on the carpet over the orchestra part of the seating. On stage, there is an attempt to show the wonders of the ancient world. While the carpet flying above the audience was cool, the action on the stage didn't work that well for me.

The singing was excellent and the staging was otherwise very good. The show certainly compares and even surpasses some of the shows at WDW.

Here are some pictures of the show.

The entrance to "The Cave of Wonders"

Jasmine makes her appearance. But rather than Alladin saving her from having her hand cut off....she reveals her identity as the Princess in the market. Alladin is to be taken by the guards for stealing.

Jafar, dressed as the old man, pays Alladin's fine to free him and gets him to the Cave of Wonders

Alladin gets hold of the lamp and meets the Magic Carpet which is played with pantomine by an actor.

Genie appears.

Genie dressed as a waiter. It is just a little freaky with his "head" on the platter. Reminds me too much of John the Baptist.... (and I don't mean the DISer ;) )

Working towards the big finale with multiple genies on stage.

Jafar with his staff.

Alladin arriving as Prince Ali on the elephant in the audience aisle.

Genie as the Master of Ceremonies introducing "Prince Ali" to Jasmine. She doesn't seem too impressed.

allad17.jpg

Jasmine sings a song not used in the original animated feature lamenting how her life is like a bird in a guilded cage.

allad18.jpg

Jafar gets a hold of the lamp and makes himself Sultan.

allad19.jpg

And wizard, turning himself into a snake that rises from the front of the audience.

allad20.jpg

But Jafar is tricked into wishing himself to be a genie and is vanquished. The Sultan and Jasmine are relieved that Jafar is no longer in power.

Genie and The carpet are pleased with the results.

Alladin's true identity is no problem for Jasmine and the wedding is announced.

The cast takes their well deserved applause....

<font color=navy>Dave, we haven't seen it yet -- where do you recommend for good seating?

And do you need to get tickets ahead of time, like we did for Blast?

Great pictures - looks like another great Disney show - thanks Dave

Mary Jo, if you remember the theater, I sat in the back of the front section of the orchestra, which was nice for seeing the stage and the "parade" was all around me. The flying carpet flew pretty much above my head.

The front row of the mezzanine must be very nice to watch the show. That would be the next place I would try to sit in.

I got there 45 minutes before the scheduled time and was near the front of the orchestra group.

I don't think they are handing out fast passes yet since it is not "officially" open.

Looks like that is a great show to see! Great pictures Dave! Thanks :)

<font color=navy>Now that I could see all the pics ;)

Great pics, Dave. It really looks like it's going to be a great show to watch. Impressive sets

<font color=navy>Sounds like where I sat the first time I saw Blast - in front of the wheelchair section.

Think I'll try for mezzanine when I/we go. :)

More great pictures, Dave, thanks. 24 pictures? Was that on one of those single use Kodaks or Fujis? ;) Really nice shots there, as always, thanks.

I was able to see a show there with MJ back in '01, great theater it is.

That must be an incredible show! The pictures are amazing! Thanks for sharing.....:D

<font color=navy>Remember how crowded the theater was then, Dan? :teeth:

Okay, I won't hijack your thread, Dave. :p

Thanks for your review in pictures, Dave :)
Amazing photos :)

I really want to see that show, but I have no idea when I'll be able to get back to California.

Very very nice... The costuming/casting look great... I wish I could hear sound though...

Looks very good though

You got some wonderful photos, Dave.

cool thanks dave

Awesome pics! Thanks!

When I was there on 1/1, they were handing out Fast Passes where the Blast FPs used to be handed out, near the Golden Gate bridge in the entry area. I was a little surprised since it wasn't supposed to be officially opened yet. Unfortunately, we couldn't see it due to other plans for the afternoon. :(

Wow! That looks like such a cool show! Your pictures are great TheLionKing! Thanks for sharing them with us! They really made my morning. :)
