What's the difference?

I have to go fall shopping for my daughter. She is 2. I don't know if I should get 24 months or 2T. Is 2T bigger? She is 34 inches tall and 28 pounds.

TIA for your help.

I found 24 months to be cut fuller, for rounder shapes. 2T is longer, so I went from 18 months to 2T for my DDs because the needed then length.

2T tends to be a bit longer, but not by much. I would look at the tags, most places have a height/weight chart on their clothes.

I think 2T's might be a little longer, and they don't normally have the quick change snappies the 24 months usually have.

Oh, the snaps were another reason I was glad to move to 2T. I got tired of finding my girls walking around having unsnapped themselves!

Well call me silly. I never knew there was a difference

Pop Daddy, you crack me up.

Piglet Too - I haven't seen the height/weight tags on 2T clothes, that's why I wondered.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably go with 2T as she is tall.

I think 2T's are longer and slimmer, more for an older or potty trained child. Whereas the 24mos are cut shorter and fuller, more for a younger baby.

My DD will be two next month and is only in 12mos. It is VERY frustrating finding clothes for her. Everything looks like it's for an infant, especially now that she's going potty. Almost everything has snaps at the crotch or is very short with a matching diaper cover. She can almost wear some 2T's while 24mos are WAY too big around the waist.

I used to work in a children's clothing store. 2T is only slightly bigger than 24 Months if you want it to last you may want to consider a 3T. They grow so fast at this age. Is she a "big" two? I'd try on one 2t first and see how it fits. I hate returning things. Every manufacturer varies a little too. I find some brands run smaller than others even though they may be marked the same size.

I agree with the above posters, 2T is usually a longer cut, without as much accomodation for a diaper as 24 months. When DS6 was a baby, I used to go to big consignment sales and store sales where it was difficult to impossible to try things on him or return if they were wrong. I also found that I could never could trust tags that gave weight or height measurements.. After a few mistakes, I started to carry a tape measure in my purse all the time, always keeping updated on his inseam, and neck to foot measures..I still carry a small recoiling one that comes in handy a lot.

And whenever I was invited to a baby shower, I always gave a tape measure with explanation as part of my gift.;)
