24 hours party confimred

It's cool for someone, like myself, who can take the day off to drive up there for it, but for most, the announcement's kind of a dud. A friend and I are going to try to do some coast-to-coast coverage of it but I don't know how it's going to go. I'm certainly underwhemled by it but my friend (John for those who read the site) just posted this news post on the site.

Not sure what to do. Was going to be at WDW for SWW. Not sure if we should go to MK the morning of 5/24 or not.
Happened to be there the evening of "one more Disney day" and it wasn't a great experience (with 4 kids.)

Well, I'm crazy, young, single, and local so it sounds great to me ;) By the time I found out about OMDD (my pre-DIS days), it was too late to plan properly for it so I missed it and was very bummed. I'm really excited to have another chance to attempt an all-nighter at MK!

I understand how it could mess with your vacation plans, though. Best of luck to anyone trying to rearrange ADRs...or just preparing to deal with a lot more crowds...

Does anyone know exactly how this works with the tickets. Can you go to one park during the day on the 24th then at midnight go to the MK and use the ticket for the day of the 25th, or do you have to have a park hopper. For example go to Epcot on the 24th then after midnight on the 25th go to MK. I will not have park hopper tickets and would like to attend this but do not know the exact details.

A day on a Disney ticket includes the hours from park open to park close and doesn't follow the regular clock. MK sometimes doesn't close until 1 AM or later. So your ticket will still get you into another park on the 25th, no problem :)

Changing our itinerary around now. I think this event is going to draw a lot of crowds since that is the Friday before Memorial Day. Fri 5/24 was going to be our second planned day at MK since it was a recommended day and we plan to be at MK on Wed 5/22 since we have Pirate's League reservations that day. Guess we are going to have to go to MK on our arrival day now since that is the only other recommended day and maybe just do some of the low key attractions that typically have short wait times.

I'm in the same boat. It was our 2nd MK day too and my DD5 will not like the wall to wall crowds at all. Switching things around including ADRS. 8 months worth of planning and to need to change things last minute like this stinks!

Agreed. I had heard a lot of hype about this press event, and was hoping for something better. If you aren't a local, or can't be there that day, it is not that exciting. I am happy for those who can go to enjoy it though. I do like how they announced it though

You will need a hopper, a "day" at Disney lasts from when the first park opens until the last park closes, so because the MK will be open starting on the 24th, it still counts as the 24th even after midnight.

Dont know why they cant have all 4 WDW parks open for 24 hours. Its not like they dont have the man-power.

I hear ya! It is our departure day and a CRT breakfast ressie already made. I guess we will stick to our original plan, but just not happy about this.

Oh well.

With 3 of the 4 parks being open 24 hours hopefully MK won't be as over run as it was last time. I'm not going at that time but I bet I could sure get my money's worth out of a Park Hopper Ticket.

Edited:

Misread what parks would be open.

I'm so excited for this! May 24th just happens to be my birthday, so this will really make the day special.

A few logistical questions for those who went last year:
--DH and I have APs...do we need separate tickets for this "event"
--We have dinner reservations at Il Mulino that night. Is there a cutoff time for getting into the park or will the turnstiles literally be open nonstop until 6am on 5/25?
--Will this affect the opening hours on 5/25?
--What kind of merchandise was available last year?

TIA!!!

Dang. This is our first day of vacation and of course we wanted to spend our first day at MK. I don't know whether to stick with the plan or not. So, Magic Kingdom is supposed to open at 6am on the 24th and stay open 24 hours. Am I reading right?

:thumbsup2 We are arriving on the 24th. My son will graduate from high school on the 23rd. We are so excited!!:goodvibes Don't know how it will work. Don't know how we'll manage. :confused3 We have an adr at the Crystal Palace on the 25th at 8:00 am. But, we will figure something out. GOING TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM FOR AN ALL-NIGHTER!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

But the other two parks are in California! How would that help cut down on crowds in the MK in Florida?
