24 hour event?

Will Magic Kingdom be opened for 24 hours straight this year? I will be there over Memorial Day and keep hoping they will make an announcement that it will be opened for 24 hours on that day. Do they normally make that announcement by now?

Last year it was announced on March 11.

In the past, how does the event affect crowds for the day? Do people generally come later? Is it packed in the early and late evening hours?

Also, how can it be open for just 24 hours? Assuming it opens at 8am, it can't close at 8am the following day, or does it just close for an hour or something?

6:00am to 6:00am. I did it in 2014, there was a big crowd at the opening and close. We did opening, left in the middle of the day and returned late night (1:30am?) to close. They had a show with all the characters at the train station at 5:45am, which was convenient for everyone to then exit. Reopened at 9:00am.

I saw a blog that said it was 6 AM to 6 AM. gives them 2-3 hours to turn the park over.

We are hoping too!! We have went twice now and love it! Morning for the kick off to the party is best and you can get a lot done! Around Wishes it is jam packed on Mainstreet! A mad house! Last time I booked dinner at BOG during all that mess.
It was still pretty full last year even at 2am...So much fun though! We can't wait! If it happens we plan to try and hit all 4 theme parks within that 24 hour period. Last year Epcot was open till midnight so it should be doable! We can always sleep later!! LOL Hope they announce something soon!!

I finally have vacation time around this event I am really hoping that they have it again this year. I had heard talk of them changing the extra magic hours to that Friday May 27th which discouraged me to think that they weren't having it. I guess we just have to wait and see.
