24 Desserts and 124 Food Pics!! A June 2011 Dining Report**Pics Back & Complete 8/17

So sorry to hear your US plans for the day did not pan out as planed. Your breakfast at POP looked good in the picture too bad it did not taste so well. We usually do a TS breakfast since DH is a big breakfast type of guy.

Have never tried WGPE but everything I have seen pics of from there looked delish.

Can not wait to read about the Dessert Party, I am waiting now to book that for our October trip, if they ever open up the bookings.

I've heard some good things about WGPE. Your meal looked pretty good, I think with the dining plan it would be a good deal though I can see how it's pretty pricey for a quick service meal without the DP.

Oh no on your Dec trip being cancelled :sad2:

I'm also sorry to hear you didn't think much of the breakfast at Pop.

Am glad you enjoyed WPE and the Creme Brulee :goodvibes

Hi.:goodvibes Great reviews. I love your honesty in your reviews. It is what helps me decide on upcoming places to eat. I can't wait to see pictures and hear about the Wishes dessert party!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

Now, I could go for that breakfast, however, the mac & cheese...not so much. I hope you can work something out for your vacation this year, Rachel. It's too bad that everything had to be cancelled. Sometimes doing the right thing hurts.

AHHHH!!!!!! I loved your report (and will go back and read more since I randomly started on page 6) but where is the dessert party??? I ran a search for posts on the Desert Party, trying to find a review with lots of pics that I can send to my mother in the hopes of selling her on the idea. Love your stuff so far. I know you won't let me down! :thumbsup2

Glad you've updated!! I must say that I have never really enjoyed breakfast at Pop, but LOVE their food selections for lunch & dinner.

Now onto the thing I was anticipating the most- The Wishes Dessert Party! I bought this event for our entire group for my sister's graduation gift. She loves sweets and so do I so I knew I wanted to do this for her. I had a lot of trouble booking the party though. Originally we were going to do it the night of Hollywood Studios but that would mean we would all need park hoppers and my mom could not afford park hoppers and I figured I should cut costs too, so I switched it to the night of Universal Studios.

That new night didn't have 5 available together. Instead they had two parties of three available. They didn't have a party of two available only three which I thought was weird. So I had to book a party of 6 and then they were able to cancel the one person on the phone once I booked so I got a refund of the one extra.

After my alone day at MK- which wasn't too bad, I headed to the Tomorrowland Terrace to snoop around. I saw them setting up and they put out the chocolate covered strawberries first-long before the party started. I thought that was weird because those are chocolate and they melt...I don't know what they were thinking.

After the rest of my family showed up we waited with a half hour to spare before they let people in. I knew it didn't make a difference what time we arrived but we had nothing else to do and we wanted to be first! As I mentioned before we had two parties of 3 and 2 but they both had the same name on them. The workers at the party figured out that we were together and got us a bigger table without knowing if we really were the same party! That was great for us because I was worried that our tables would be far apart.

I was about to pee my pants I was so excited. I have no idea why I was so excited about this! It was probabaly because of the desserts.

Here they are!

These are the only two buffet pics I got because of the swarms of people heading in. I was the guilty one who ran to get my dessert..lol.

The beverage station was really nice. I had about 7 glasses of water and it was very cold!!

Here are my plates.

The last picture I used my fork to show the size comparison. I knew the desserts were tiny but I didn't realize they were bite size. The mini cups were smaller than the fork tongs. The little key lime pie tart was like the size of a half dollar. That was a big shock- with the pictures you can't really tell they are that small. It wasn't a bad thing though! I will go through everything I tried from favorite to least favorite.

Favs..
Pistachio Creme Brulee--OMG Good!! I had four of these!!
Tiramisu--Very Good and Light. If you don't normally like the strong taste of Tiramisu you would probabaly like this.
Cannoli--Very Very good cannoli!!! I was pretty shocked that I liked these so much.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries- Standard but oh so good!! They were huge, juicy, and delish!
Chocolate Cheesecake in a Cup- Pretty good, it is that fluffy fake cheesecake but was still good.
Berry Tart- Okay--realyl all the tarts were just okay.
Banana Tart- the filling was good but everything else ok.
Cantaloupe- good flavor
Honeydew Melon-absolutely no flavor!! Honeydew is such a hit or miss!
Chocolate Truffles- good but way too rich
Mango Shooters- I was expecting to like these but I didn't care for them. They were good if you premixed the whipped cream in with them but it was too much like thick juice I was drinking.
Plain Cheesecake in a Cup-Absolutely horrendous! It was sour and gross.
I did not waste time/room on any brownies, cookies, or cupcakes! Too plain for me!

All in all I was pleased with the desserts. They were good and the ones that weren't good I didn't care because I filled up on the other desserts. They will come and take your plate if you get up. They are crazy on bussing those tables. There were multiple times they took my food and drink, which wasn't a big deal because it was unlimited but it was still a little weird.

Our seat was pretty good. It was in the left side of the room- so not the great view of Tink that everyone talks about but a better view of the castle and fireworks. Also a pole was blocking our way so we couldn't see some fireworks.

Here is the view from our table.
DisneyJune2011487.jpg

This is a very short video of some of Wishes from our table.

We prepurchased the PhotoPass CD so we took advantage of the PhotoPass photog that was right at the party. He was horrible..Lol!! Funny but the poses he put us were stupid. I guess they made me laugh when I saw them but I would have liked some nice pics too without me laughing..

All in all it was a good experience! I don't think I would do it again but Im sure you wouldn't have to twist my arm hard to get me to go!;) It was a good time and the desserts were good but it wasn't extraordinary.

One tip--if you are going to MK multiple days and booked the Dessert Party make sure to watch Wishes one night right in front of the castle back a little ways. It was nice to sit and watch the fireworks but it wasn't a good view. I don't like when you can see how far back the fireworks shoot off from and you could tell at the party. We watched Wishes a different night so I wasn't too concerned with standing up to get the best rail spot for the show.

Our prices for the party were I think $26 with tax which is cheaper than what it was when I checked for last December- I think it was $34-$35 then!! Def not worth it at that price. Oh yeah I counted this as one dessert even thought I had like 21..haha So this is Dessert #22!

Hope you enjoyed this Dessert Party report! I have been having lots of fun typing this up.

Thank you soo much for your detailed review of Wishes Dessert Party! I loved the detail you went into and how you described each dessert :thumbsup2 I can't believe how tiny they actually were but like you said you could go to the buffet as many times as you want.

It's the same for our dates - no 2 parties available but plenty of parties of 3. However, we are eating at Artist Point the night it is available and think the desserts will be too much after our meal.

Love the PP poses!

Oh, how those photos brought back some yummy memories. :cloud9: It's heaven for sugar-hounds such as myself. If only they would open up October so I can book that again..... thanks so much for sharing!!!

It is very good there! We had one of those restaurants in Ohio and we would go often because the food is so fresh and yummy!

Oh no on your Dec trip being cancelled :sad2:

I'm also sorry to hear you didn't think much of the breakfast at Pop.

Am glad you enjoyed WPE and the Creme Brulee :goodvibes

I know, I am sad my trip is cancelled! =( Very very sad. I don't know when the next time we will go is either.

Hi.:goodvibes Great reviews. I love your honesty in your reviews. It is what helps me decide on upcoming places to eat. I can't wait to see pictures and hear about the Wishes dessert party!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

Thanks for reading!! I am glad you are liking these! It really is so much fun to write these out. I love reliving my food adventures.

Now, I could go for that breakfast, however, the mac & cheese...not so much. I hope you can work something out for your vacation this year, Rachel. It's too bad that everything had to be cancelled. Sometimes doing the right thing hurts.

I hope so too! I have a feeling we probabaly won't go though because of money situations. Maybe we can shedule a trip next year sometime

Same here!!! I love love some of their dinner selections. It probably is one of my favorite places to eat for counter service.

We have a dessert party booked for our upcoming trip and I cannot WAIT to see how we like it. :goodvibes

I am sure you will love it!! It was fun to do something different!!

Thank you very much!! I think the desserts will be too much as well. I ate an early dinner around 3 that day and I was still really full from dinner at the party. If you were to schedule it eat a dinner around 3 or somewhere around there.

Onto Snacks! Im going to do like three a post.
Create Your Own Pretzels at Goofys in Downtown Disney Dessert #8
I am sorry; I have no picture for this. They were really pretty though! I got three pretzels all dipped in white chocolate and all drizzled in milk chocolate. The three were dipped in butterfinger, peanut butter chips, and cinnamon sugar. The cinnamon sugar one was SOOOO good. That was by the far the best. Then butterfinger, then peanut butter chips. These were sooo expensive. For three pretzel rods, they were $9.54!! For some reason I thought they were a snack credit. I came all the way to Downtown Disney by myself just to get these so I wasn't going to not get these. It took an hour and a half just to go to DTD and get pretzels and come back.

Dole Pinneaple Bar at Animal Kingdom Dessert #9
Yummy! This is my new favorite snack. So refreshing, and to me, much better than the pineapple dole whip.

Snacks at Starring Rolls Dessert #10
Rachel got a very messy brownie covered in M&Ms
DisneyJune2011288.jpg

Jessica got tiramisu
DisneyJune2011289.jpg

I had the very delectable Banana Split!! This was heavenly. The bottom is like a thick pie crust(only part I didn't like; it was very hard), the middle is a banana flavored mousse with actual chunks of banana in it! The top had whipped cream and chocolate. I used a snack credit but believe it was about $3.99.
Here is a picture before with the plastic wrap around the sides
DisneyJune2011286.jpg

Here is a pic after I took the plastic wrap off. It was very hard to do this. It is taped on the side and the tape wouldn't come off and since the dessert is soft you can't put pressure on the sides.
DisneyJune2011287.jpg

Here is a during so you can see what the inside looks like. Once again, SO good.

Fantasmic Snacks
After I got back from Pizza Planet they had food waiting for me =) Haha, just kidding, it was their food. They had popcorn, which actually I ended up eating most of it. That was my first experience with Disney popcorn and it was perfect.
DisneyJune2011306.jpg

My mom got this Fantasmic platter with bread, brie, grapes, apples, and three chocolate covered strawberries. That looks so good!!! I want to say it was about $14 but I am not entirely sure. This would be the perfect late night dinner and this is exactly what it was for her.
DisneyJune2011304.jpg

Close up of butterfinger covered strawberry. Yummy.
DisneyJune2011305.jpg

where and how did you find that yummy looking cheese platter to enjoy during Fantasmic? is it at the Hollywood Hills counter? can you use DDP to obtain?

I think you are the first person to mention how small the desserts were. I always wondered how people fit in a second plate! :)

That's too bad about your next trip. Hopefully they will offer free dining, so you could go!

The Wishes Dessert Party looks marvelous! I would definitely like to try this someday.

I just booked my dessert party for September! I'm definitely excited about it, the food looks and sounds pretty delicious from your description :goodvibes

Very good review of the Dessert Party. The desserts looked good even if they are small. I am hopeing we are seated where we might have a decent view from our table.

Did you happen to notice where the 2 party tables were located?

At least there is a wall to lean on if I do have to stand, with my back it is hard to stand for any length of time unless I have something to lean on.
Last time we watched Illuminations we picked our spot about and hour and a half so we could lean againt a wall near the water.

I figure booking the dessert party would be great if we did not have to stake out a spot so early plus DH is a big sweet fan.

Everything looks soooo good! I definitely would have tried those brownies and probably more than once. You can't tell but I'm actually drooling! I'm glad your family was able to all sit together.

I have to keep coming back here to look at those brownies from the dessert party and the butter finger strawberry. :lovestruc Looking forward to your next installment. :thumbsup2

On a side note....we are not going to Disney World any more this December =(
I wanted to but my boyfriend said "No" because we really can't afford it..well we CAN but we would have to put other things aside such as paying off my stupid cards from college! UGH! I am super super sad. I keep crying knowing that all of my plans are useless and I am going to have to delete all of my dinner reservations. I am still holding out that just in case we get a sweet free dining offer because there may be a slight possibility we could still go then. I know this is the right thing to do but it honestly breaks my heart. We haven't gone on a vacation together this year and we won't be able to go on any if we don't go to Disney. And we will have to tell Corey's sister we won't be joining them which makes me sad as well.

I feel bad you have to cancel the plans for Dec. I just wanted to tell you I planned my next trip a year & 1/2 in advance. Disney lets you put $200 down one year in advance. IDK if u know this, but it was very helpful considering I was pregnant & knew it would be sometime until we could go. So it will be 2 years since our last trip. [btw, I got prego in WDW...tmi?:confused3 lol!!!:lmao: All the kids made us want to have one. So we did.] Anyways the nice things about this is it will have been a while so we'll enjoy it more.& of course, making our payments along the way has been easier. Lastly planning has been longer but still fun & we only have 3 months til we take my son for his 1st trip!!!! Wooohoo!! My husband is "the voice of travel reason" in my life too. I still squeezed 4 weekend local trips out of him in that year & a 1/2. Just to make it through. :woohoo: I hope you get to go!
